Charlie Brooks sat peacefully in his favourite armchair late one night, readin a book as the sound of the howling wind and clashing thunder continued to rage outside.

Charlie had spent a good day relaxing as his office had given him some time off in order to relax and unwind, so naturally he was enjoying his time of freedom.

Carefully sipping his cup of tea, the 23 year old rubbed his head and continued to read as, focusing entirely on the contents of the pages.

This focus however was broken by a strange sound coming from outside, like a small animal desperatley calling out to something.

Curious, he got up from his chair and walked over to the door, opening it up and looking out into the night to see what had been causing the noise.

Lucy ran through the dark streets lost and scared, the alley cats were all out at this time of night and she was scared stiff. She came to a nearby house running away from some very hungry ginger cat and scratched wildly at the door.

"Let me in, let me in, oh please let me in!" she squeaked helplessly.

Charlie opened the door, and looked around for where the noise was coming from.

Due to the little mouse girl begin very small, he did not see her standing in front of him, quivering from the cold of the night.

The Little mouse girl looked up and squeaked.

"Oh sir please let me in, the cat's are trying to eat me!"

Charlie looked down, and spotted the little mouse girl, looking up at him with big blue eyes.

He was suprisingly moved by the furry little child and so smiled sympathetically, reaching down to lift her into his arms.

"It's ok" he said, walking inside with her.

"You're safe now".

"Oh thank you sir, c-can I live here?" she asked softly.

Charlie was suprised by the mouse's request, as he had not been prepared for something that quick.

"Wait a minute" he said sitting down and sitting her in his lap, giving her bottom a few gentle pats.

"What about your Mummy and Daddy?".

"The Cat's got my parents...and I'm an orphan now..." she stated sadly.
