Padawan Raven
The third resulted in more vigorous hopping, jumping and begging which was met with scolding and another swat. Raven was not the sharpest tool in the shed, but neither was she stupid. She let out a loud yelp at the forth, but did her best to limit the jumping around. Once the pain had receded to bearable she looked back and shot him a watery expression. “I’m sorry, Master, it, it won’t happen again,” was sniffled out.

Master Eeth Koth
"Apology accepted," Eeth said calmly, releasing her arm. "You would do well not to let it happen again because I will not have any of it. Now hurry. I do not want you to be late for school."

Padawan Raven
“Yes Master,” Raven was quick to reply and darted out the door just as fast, both hands rubbing vigorously at her seat. Fuck, he could pack a wallop. Why she thought throwing a fit was going to be acceptable was beyond her, yet her emotions had won out. Well, there were a couple of ways to deal with that, Eeth had opted for the quicker method this time given she was indeed almost late for her class.
She wasn’t, though, and walked in just as the teacher was about to begin. She sat, gingerly, her glassy eyes and wince a dead give away, but hell, it had hurt and she couldn’t help it. Raven didn’t resent Eeth for providing discipline, not exactly, she was just finding it increasingly difficult to stick to the program lately.

Master Eeth Koth
Eeth made several comm calls that morning with the result that he came to pick up Raven after class, carrying a bag of sandwiches.
"We have an appointment at the healers' wing in half an hour," he told her. "We can have a quick lunch in the large garden in front of it. Since it is a Friday, we might go into town for dinner."

After the embarrassment of that first class dissipated, Raven's day improved, it wasn't hard considering how it had started after all.
"The healers? What for? And, no disrespect, but are you ever going to tell me what is going on?"

Master Eeth Koth
"Yes," said Eeth calmly. "Now that I actually know for certain, I will. The healers are offering you an internship during term break. They only give that opportunity to a small number of padawans since they rarely have time to spare to look after interns. However, padawans who have a talent for Force-aided healing, show an interest in the subject and some aptitude and have taken advanced classes are sometimes accepted. They had a lot of trouble with contagious diseases lately, and had to make sure that you are immune first. They also had told me to check with them this morning and see when would be a good time for someone to welcome you and explain things to you. It turned out that time is this afternoon."
If this had not worked out, the alternative for Raven would have been to spend much of her term break doing school work in some subjects she was struggling with. In fact, this was what Eeth had previously told her she would have to do. Thus, he had not wanted to raise her hopes of being offered a more interesting way to spend her time; not before he was actually sure it was going to happen!

Padawan Raven
Raven’s brows rose high. “An internship, the healers, me?” It came out staggered but her surprise and delight at this news were warring with one and other. After a moment had passed and the reality sunk in, she managed to look at him. “I can’t believe you didn’t tell me this morning, this is the best news ever!” That Eeth planned to make her study math and astrophysics all break had gone down like a lead balloon, she had moped for a solid day until Eeth finally had enough of it.
Lunch was eaten distractedly, Raven was wholy focused on their up and coming meeting with the healers and it showed in the way she picked at her food. She ate it though, and soon they were on their way to the healers wing. Raven was noticeably excited about this and not trying to hide it, at least not from Eeth, there wasn’t much point in that.

Master Eeth Koth/ Healer Ithin
In the lobby of the healers' wing, Healer Ithin, a middle-aged female Iktotchi, was waiting for them. She was an experienced healer specialised on working with children and contagious diseases, and since that was where currently most help was needed, it had been decided that she should be Raven's main supervisor.
"Padawan Trebeck," she said formally, bowing in greeting. "I am Healer Ithin and I will be in charge of you during your internship. Master Koth, do you have any questions or issues that you wish to address? If not, you will not be needed."
Eeth raised his eyebrows, but had to acknowledge that this was how he spoke to others frequently, so there was no reason why the healer should not do it as well.
"How long will my padawan be working today?" he asked. "When will she be home?"
"Depends a bit on what's happening this afternoon and how much work there is to do, but no later than eight, I think," replied Ithin.
Eeth nodded. "Alright," he said. "I will see you tonight, then, padawan."

The exchange between the two had Raven fighting to supress a grin; it wasn’t often she saw Eeth get a taste of his own personality, and apparently the same was true for him. That thought lead to another, what if this Ithin person was like Eeth in more ways than one? She gave the healer a formal bow in any case, then offered the same to her master. “Around eight,” she confirmed, thinking it fantastic that there was nothing set in stone.
When he left she turned to the healer and said: “I’ve completed all the medical classes they’ll let me take, I know a lots about anatomy and last class I took we learned all about suturing, like how to do each type and which stitch is needed for different types of injury,” Raven said proudly, thinking herself very knowledgeable and eager to help. “Master said you wanted to see if I’m immune to the disease? How do we do that?”

Master Ithin
"Yes, I have seen your record and I know your qualifications," Healer Ithin said crisply. "We have already ascertained your immunity to the diseases we are presently dealing with. Of course, we might receive new cases any day and have to re-evaluate then, but we can deal with that if and when it happens. So, before I start showing you around, here are a few rules. You don't do anything without explicit permission. Usually, you will only receive that permission when a healer's there to watch. It might happen that none of us has time to supervise you, for example when there's an emergency. We'll try our best to give you a chance to make yourself useful, but when we can't, we will tell you and you will just have to accept that. In general, anything a healer tells you, you obey immediately. Obey first, questions later. I'm sure none of this is news to you, but since we're dealing with sick people, there's no margin for error. Any questions?"
