A brunette girl was looking up to the ceiling as she lied on her back on the sofa, focusing on the nearly hypnotizing circling movement of the fan above her as the clock that stood on the wall behind her served to both remind her that the time had not stopped and to annoy her further.
This girl, whose name was Jesse, was very well aware that getting annoyed at a clock for ticking was rather illogical and even childish for a 14 years old girl, but, well, it had been an hour by now, an hour she had been waiting for her brother to come home. Her dad; Mister Davis for many and just “pa” for her and her brother, had requested her to stay home afterschool, even if just this once, to eat with the family’s prodigal son.
For that the man had done quite a banquet; steak, mashed potatoes, pasta and he had even brought a cake from the young man’s favorite store, sadly, as often, the elder Davis wouldn’t arrive until hours after Jesse’s brother arrived. That’s when she came into play, welcoming him and keeping him company so he wouldn’t feel lonely on his first day home.
All that was ok for the youngster girl, but her brother was taking far too long in coming home, and she was getting hungry, bored and lonely. Yawning, the girl stretched on the couch, for a moment filling her oversized white shirt (one that had once belonged to her brother) and turned herself to the tv at her side, grabbing the remote control she turned it on and began to change the channels.
Really, if her bro didn’t come home soon she was going to throw a party with her pals and eat that cake.
