Zack said plating the food and giving the boy two warm muffins to start with, he fixed himself a plate too carrying them to the table, setting Cray's in front of him before sitting, "You can always have seconds, no going hungry here, espically because I love to cook." Zack gave a smile and picked up his silverware,

"The park is an open invition, one I would be happy if you came, you are always welcome around here. Being around will help me not talk to myself so." The man winked playfully and took a bite of breakfast, "What do you like to do outdoors Crey?" The man ventured to ask.

Crey shrugged.

"I just like spending time out there, enjoying the outdoors. And I like animals, of all kinds. I'd love to have a bunch of animals, but I know that won't happen because no one will ever let me."

He ate his breakfast hungrily.

"This is good. I like it."

He scarfed down the food, enjoying it all.

Zack nodding understanding the boy, as long as you were outside it was enjoyable. He listened to Crey eating his own breakfast, "I have a soft spot for most animals too, but dogs have to be my favorite, actually canines I like so wolves, foxes, all those guys, and I don't know about a 'bunch' but this house is big enough for a dog or cat, in the near future ya know." Zack smiled warmly giving a little wink to the boy as a hint on what he was saying.

The blonde man ate more of his breakfast watching Crey eat it all up, "Careful now, don't choke on me."

Crey looked at Jason.

"Really? Could there be a dog AND cat? I'd like one of each. And wolves and foxes are cool. Like I said, I really love animals."

He chuckled at the choking comment.

"I ain't gonna choke. I'm not eating that fast."

Crey burped, and he didn't excuse himself, not really thinking about that at this moment.

Zack tapped his chin thinking, before his face going a bit serious, "Well...you know we have to find a dog and cat that like each other enough to co-exist, and taking care of both is a lot of work and is a big responiblity." Zack cautioned not unkindly though, he just wanted the boy to know what he was in for, with a cat and dog, Crey would have to feed them, clean up after their waste and give both the animals lots of attention and love. Of course, Zack would help, somewhat and it would foster some good values in the kid,

"Tell you what, I think animals are awesome, and one day when your older you can work with all the animals and have a bunch, maybe live out in the country have some cows, chickens, pigs, and horses," Zack paused knowing to sounded a bit like he was denying Crey yet he finish, "But as for now, a cat and a dog may just worrk." Zack grinned lightly before finishing up his meal,

"Mmmm-hmm, famous last words," Zack hummed to the choking comment before saying, "Excuse you." Zack picked up the boys empty plate, "Full enough?"

Crey shook his head.

"Can I have seconds?"

It was interesting, Jason was talking like this would be Crey's home from now on, but Crey didn't want to get his hopes up. And he'd noticed Jason hadn't said a word about being dad to him or anything.

"I'm sure we can find a cat and dog that will be fine together. I know we can."

He sighed some and waited for Jason to give him the seconds.

"Why are you being so nice to me? I'm not really worth it."

"Yeah, sure thing, " Zack went to the food like he promised and dishing out the food only half the portion he had given the first time. Wondering over, the man set it down before frowning at the question, than deeper at the added words,

"Hey now, no talking like that." Zack knelt down in a squat by the boys chair, "Its a silly question, but I will answer, I care about you because your a good kid that handed a hand full cards, some rotten cards, but there is still great ones in there, my purpose is to help you find them," Zack reached up and rubbed the boys knee, "And your a cool dude, quite the joy to be around." Smiling he patted Crey's knee. It was unsure on what the courts were going to do with Crey, the poor fellow had been bounced around so much....Zack just wanted to give him stability.

Crey took the food.

"Thanks."

Crey sighed.

"Am I a good kid? No one else has seemed to think I am. You know I've gotten into trouble before? People say I have a poor attitude. Maybe I do. It doesn't matter. I'm used to no one worrying or caring about me."

He looked around.

"You're nice and this is nice, but I know better than to think I'll be here very long. Pretty soon I'll get moved around again."

Crey munched the food, lapsing into silence.

"Crey...." Zack trailed his name as the words came from the boys lips. Empathy for that way of thinking pulsed breifly through Zack. He moved his hands up to the boy's shoulders, "You ARE a good kid, getting in trouble and making mistakes is apart of life. Its not that pleasant, but apart of life, its how we learn. Those people who don't think you are "good" or have a "poor attitude" have no idea what those words really mean, plus they made just as many mistakes...some people forget what being a kid is, they think a kid has to be a little adult, its really foolish thinking."

Zack squeezed the boys shoulder a bit gently, "When your with me, I will expect things from you, but not perfection, not near it because I am not, and I won't just expect you to know things, I'll explain, and I know its a lot to get used too, but your going to have to get used to be caring about, because you are." giving a warm smile and nodding in assurance, the man got up to refill the cup with milk and his too.

Crey kept his head down and tears threatened to run down his face and he didn't want Zack seeing them. He was putting on a front of toughness, but this whole conversation wasn't easy. And he loved the feeling of being cared about, but it was hard to get used to, as no one really had before.

He took the cup once refilled.

"Thanks."

Crey sipped the milk then sighed.

"We'll see the first time I get in trouble. Not that I plan to, but you know. Bet you'll get rid of me."
