"M-Mommy...? Something doesn't feel right..." Sora nervously told her, holding her hand tightly. As a Kitsune boy, he had a closer connection to magic than most Humans, and he could feel it in the air; it felt heavy, dark, and just plain wrong. Also... what was that coppery scent in the air?

"Don't bother screaming for help."

From behind a tree stepped the official Sora had mooned earlier. He carried a large knife in one hand.

"That little tail of yours, you're a half-kitsune." He said, smiling in a way that was anything but reassuring as Izayi pulled Sora behind her.

The man opened his robes, and let them drop, exposing his upper body. Scars covered his torso and arms.

"Your blood will provide a rich source of magic for me."

Sora felt his eyes widen in fear as this blood mage revealed himself. "M-Mommy, what do we do?!" He thought about trying to summon illusions and distractions with his magic, but he was so frightened that he dared not move without his mother's say-so.

Izayi called the air kami to her, creating a thick fog around herself and Sora.

"Run, now!" she ordered him as the blood sorcerer slashed his chest, his aura glowing a bright red and starting to burn away the fog.

Sora held his mother's hand in a vice-like grip, turning and bolting into the fog. Calling upon illusion magic, he summoned mirages of himself and mother running different directions, even creating footprints to confuse their pursuer.
