"Yeah, I do play. I'm self-taught though...but I'm not any good. At least, in my opinion. Haha, but I digress, it would help to play in front of an audience for once!" Truthfully, Daniel had only played in front of a few friends. "Maybe I'll let you hear a few songs later." Danny winked at his niece as he put an affectionate arm over her shoulder, guiding her into the supermarket with him. "I always hate how whenever I come into the supermarket, I always seem to want to buy more than what I planned. I came in here for sauce, but I might as well pick up a few other things while I'm here."

Removing his arm from Aidan's shoulder to grab a cart, Daniel began to scan the different aisles. "Oh! That reminds me, I planned an awesome dessert for you tonight didn't I? Oh geez..that means I should probably grab a few baking items too." What problem Daniel had was definitely a bit of OCD. Things had to be put in place and perfect, neat and tidy! If it wasn't, well it wasn't so bad that he'd have a nervous break down...

But he did have something far close to one!

"Did you have anything you wanted in particular to snack on Aidan?"

Aidan smiled more, now actually smiled instead of only half grinning, she felt like if her uncle would do something great, even if he didn't played like any professional guitarist she did want to listen to him playing.

She looked around as she followed, not really understanding his comment but just nodding once to it and then twice, more heartfelt, when he mentioned the dessert, he saw him kind of thoughtful so she shrugged.

"It could be for other day" The little one suggested, taking a toy sword out of a shelve as they passed them and swinging it about, she had wanted to be a knight when she was a little girl, or a pirate, and she would pick up sticks and swing them around, and fight with the boys with them, scaring the other girls, she smiled a bit at the memory.

As he mentioned something to snack she shrugged, she was not really a picky eater, whenever she rejected something most of the times it was because that something was bad or passed and would make her sick, her parents had learned that the hard way.

Danny once again went back to pondering, only half-listening to his niece. Not on purpose though, he was just planning ahead is all! "No, no..another day won't do..maybe I'll just grab a quick cake at the bakery. Yes, a quick cake at the bakery! Chocolate or vanilla, Aidan?" The male pushed the cart, glancing behind him as his niece began playing with a toy sword. It was adorable. The girl wasn't different...she were unique. Continuing down the aisle, Danny started his mental shopping list.

As Aidan toyed with the sword, a young girl moved past her, stopping only to double take. It was Courtney, brushing her dark hair behind her ears. Coincidentally, her mother had also arrived at the supermarket, and the brunette had curiously wandered over towards the toy section as she normally did.

The dark haired girl smiled a little, tilting her head to the side. "Um..hey! You're that girl, Aidan." Courtney neared the girl curiously, her smile never leaving her face.

"I'm Courtney, I don't think we've met. We go to the same school."

Danny were about to turn to ask a question when he noticed Aidan was being approached by a girl her age. A proud smile formed on his lips as he went on with his shopping, letting his niece socialize.

"It would be ok" Aiden muttered, not wanting to see him in a hurry, not wanting to be a bother. As he mentioned getting a cake of the bakery she wondered if they had banana and chocolate or cheese or something like that, if not she would go for whatever there was, as mentioned she was not a picky eater.

She kept playing with the sword, mentally slaying zombies with it, smiling a bit to herself as she thought how fun that would probably be in real life and becoming distracted enough as to not to notice the girl that passed at her side, just toying with the plastic sword as she "decapitated" more zombies off her way.

She stopped as she was called, tensing up pretty badly, thinking that she was one of the girls who mocked her everyday at school. She got quiet and nodded at the other girl's name, not having quite caught it before, her game died and all the imaginary zombies went running off to the exit, scared, as her, at the possibility of more bullying coming now, her sword went back to being a toy sword, but she really thought of putting it in front of herself for protection.

But she didn't do such a thing, instead just looking at the other girl, not knowing what to expect.

Courtney tilted her head to the side, putting two and two together. Aidan was clearly playing a game by herself, an imaginary game at that. It made the girl giggle, but not in a sense of poking fun. She honestly felt it were cute. "Were you playing a game?" Courtney asked innocently, moving towards the girl. She knew Aidan probably had zero trust in her, especially since the girls at school often teased the poor thing! But Courtney was different. At one point, she were the girl they always teased. But she stuck up for herself. It was in that moment that her peers seemed drawn to her.

But she knew what it felt like. So how could she bring herself to do it to another?

Courtney stared at the short haired girl for a few seconds, blue eyes taking in her appearance. And suddenly, she reached a hand over to grab a toy sword of her own.

"Might if I join ya? My mom takes years to shop, and I'm bored out of my wits!"

It was Courtney's way of trying to make peace with the girl, and what better opportunity than to have some fun?

As she heard the giggle Aidan looked down, not liking to be teased and thinking that the other girl was poking fun at her, after all she couldn't read minds and she didn't know the other girl's story.

She sighed, feeling rather stupid for being caught playing with a toy by one of the girls of her school, sure the new would go all around it the next day and she would be teased for being a kiddy instead of "almost a teenager" as she should be... but she didn't see why, she still liked to play, the boys still liked to play too, they didn't stop playing until they were 14... or more... or never, so why should she stop? Why the girls tried to stop playing to become young ladies? She didn't get it. She wouldn't get it.

The eyes of the other girl examined her and she shifted uncomfortably, really wanting to escape, mostly hide, yeah, hide would be a good idea.

What the other girl did next literally blew logic away. The dark haired grabbed another toy sword and asked to be invited to play. The little brunette frowned slightly, but kept a hold on her sword, and after many moments she contacted her sword to Courtney's, slightly, like a cat that pats another just to see how things are, wanting to see how she would react. Testing the water.

Courtney had three elder brothers. All off to college now, but she grew up around video games, just as she grown up around dolls. Though she wasn't necessarily a tomboy, she were tough, and quite athletic. In fact, she were one of the star players on the softball team. Court twirled her sword idly as she waited for a respond from Aidan, actually becoming nervous now. Why? Well, the poor girl probably still felt as though she were being made fun of. Courtney would feel quite upset if the other rejected her, yet at the same time she wouldn't get angry.

Just sad.

Just as Courtney was beginning to grow concern over Aidan's despondency, the girl comically allowed her sword to hit hers. It was like a pat, doing nothing more than making a soft noise as it contacted. Courtney breathed a sigh of relief...

And then she hit her sword back, with a bit more vigor. The dark haired girl could be quite rough!

"En Guarde!" The girl laughed, genuinely enjoying herself. "Is that all you got? Show me your best moves Aidan!"

Daniel watched as the two girls began to play around, chuckling softly to himself. With Aidan distracted, he could get his shopping done faster without worry for boring her. With that, he continued to the bakery to get their dessert.

Aidan's time slowed completely, really not knowing what to expect and really preferring to face a thousand zombies come right out of her Resident Evil videogames, or the Koopas from Mario bros, or anything instead of this moment, whatever happened next would either be extremely bad, like the girl claiming that she had attacked her, or... or.

Seemenly, it was that "or" for the next thing she knew was that her pat was sparred with swift movement that made her get better grip on the toy and give a step back surprised, only boys had that vigor, or so she thought.

Courtney then got into a fighting stance, a wide smile on her face, laughing even, as the soft teasing came a decisive look crossed Aidan's amber eyes and she smiled a bit, was this for real?

Probably not, but well, she was willing to enjoy it as long as it lasted.Taking her toy sword with both hands she "attacked" the other girl, harder this time, their swords contacting noisily as Aidan tried to make the girl step back. The separated and re-collided several times in a kind of sword dance.

Courtney brought her own sword up as Aidan's collided with it, her legs slipping back just slightly. The girl blinked, but her surprise at how quickly the short haired girl responded dissipated quickly. "Now that's more like it!" With that, Courtney and Aidan continued their little 'swordplay', and both girls easily ignored the curious stares of passerbys as the two girls played. Before long, a woman that looked quite a bit like Courtney glanced in the aisle, shaking her head with a laugh. "Courtney dear, we have to leave now! Say goodbye to your friend alright?" The woman headed out of the aisle, and Courtney responded with a quick, "Kay mom!"

Turning to Aidan, she sighed as if sad they couldn't continue. "Sorry..gotta go. But I had fun! We need to play around more often, don't be afraid to talk to me in school. I got your back." With a smile, Courtney seemingly went to follow her mom, only to playfully and gently swat Aidan's backside as she passed her. "By the way, we'll just call it a draw!" Winking, Courtney placed the toy sword back, trotting back to her mother's side.

A few moments later, Danny appeared in the aisle, cart stocked with items. "Ah, there you are! Sorry I left, and I hope I didn't take too long! The lines were crazy. I got quite a bit of items...the only cake the bakery had left was vanilla. I'm sorry if its not what you wanted darling." Daniel began to head for the car with his paid for items. "By the way, who was your friend? You two seemed to be having a grand old time!"

Aidan was sure that this was not for real, after all what girl invited her to play with swords? So convinced of that she decided to enjoy it the most she could before it turned ugly one way or another, this was the most fun she had had in a very good while and the other girl was not a crying weak girly, she was tough! And she sure could compete in this game, it was all great.

She was half smiling as they played, their swords contacting and then separating only to contact again in a "fierce" battle, Aidan trying to imitate all the characters with sword she knew to get the upper hand, from Lion-O of the thundercats to Finn the human boy but this girl was GOOD at this, she wondered how she had gotten this good at a game like this.

As a woman, evidently Courtney's mom, peeked over the corner to them Aidan was sure that they were in trouble, thinking that all girl's moms were more or less like her own and that she was now going to scold them for playing something so stupid, as her mom would have.

But instead the woman laughed and called her daughter over with a loving tone, surprising the younger girl. However as she stared at the mom in confusion the other girl turned, calling her attention back with a sigh, and then apologized that she had to go, and even invited her to talk to her at school. This made Aidan frown slightly, was this for real??

She was quite confused but at the end she gave up on over thinking it and just nodded.

"K..." She whispered. "See you" She called as the girl passed her, picking up a "see you" instead of a "Goodbye" for now. The playful spank came as the most unexpected thing in the world, making her jump slightly and blush a bit, blush that deepened at the other girl's words and wink, finding it strange to say the least, but not entirely unwelcomed.

No long later her uncle came and she placed her sword back, over Courney's one before going to him. "it's ok" She whispered, to the fact that he had left. "Thanks uncle" She smiled at him, her parents would have never bought her a cake nor cooked for her. She was still confused by all that had happened, but guessed that it would solve itself at one moment or another.

At the question of who was her friend she had to think much, was Courtney her friend now? Or was it a trap?

However she decided to ignore what logic told her in shouts about it being a trap and nodded.

"Her name is Courtney" She told him instead of telling him that the girl was not her friend.
