A lot had changed in Republic City in the twelve years since Kuvira's defeat at the hands of Avatar Korra. Technology was progressing quickly, humans and spirits continued to coexist within the city, and most importantly, there were no major conflicts among the four Nations. Korra and Asami were now entering the eleventh year of their marriage. Nine years ago, Korra had given birth to their daughter, who was conceived through powers granted to the Avatar by the spirits.

The small nine year-old Zoe resembled both of her parents as she had long dark black hair and blue eyes that resembled Korra. She also had lean muscles throughout her body like both of her parents. Howeve, she was rather short at 4’7. However, her personality had terrifying attributes as she had Asami’s brains and Korra’s manipulation. It made her less reckless than her mother, but scary because she could get away with a lot.

"You realize she gets her proclivity for mischief from you... at least primarily," Asami sighed to Korra one night as she washed the dishes after dinner. "I'll admit that I had my share of dangerous stunts when I was a kid, but most of them were with you. It still amazes me how mischievous you could be with a mother like Lin. You got yourself punished nearly every day."

“I wasn’t that bad, “Korra said with a sigh. “I did get into a lot of trouble with mom indeed. She was pretty strict too and her palm always hurt, so bad. However, she didn’t always catch me, just most of the time. The worst was when I was a teenager and started to drink some and mom always seemed to catch me,” Korra said.

"I know," Asami sighed again. "I was there for the first time, remember? And possibly the second, third, fourth... you get the picture." Having finished the dishes, the young CEO shut the water off and leaned back against the kitchen counter. Absentmindedly, she reached out to brush Korra's face with her fingertips. "Where is Zoe, now that I think about it? She headed straight for her room after dinner, and I was so distracted by the amount of dishes this recipe made that I didn't catch what she said she was doing."

Korra looked at Asami with a small smile as she felt the fingertips and the jokes they made. “Yeah, the two of us together. My mom wanted to strangle us most of the time. She loved we were friends, but we were always getting caught by her,” She said. “I think Zoe is in her room doing homeworkZ That’s what she said. She s got your brains after all,” Korra said.

Asami handed Korra the dishes one by one to dry and put away in the cabinet. When it was finished, she dried her hands off. "I'll go check on her. She doesn't usually need any help, but you know she doesn't really tend to ask when she does." She went upstairs and knocked on her daughter's bedroom door. "Zoe? Dear, are you in there?"

Zoe was currently finishing up her homework annoyed when her mother knocked on the door. Her mother always tended to be pretty nosy with everything the girl did. It was rather annoying and she wished her mother could be a little less nosy sometimes as it would make things simpler. “I’m just doing homework,” Zoe said as her mother came in.

"Did you need any help? Or did you need me to check it before you turn it in? I'm happy to." Asami tended to be the one who dealt with schoolwork matters. It wasn't because Korra didn't care about Zoe's schoolwork, it was just that Asami tended to take it more seriously. She didn't demand perfect grades (Zoe was incredibly capable of that on her own) but she did try to make sure everything was in order. If Asami were to pass Future Industries onto her when she grew up, she had to be ready.

Zoe looked at her mother annoyed as she said that not very happy with the situation. She was a genius, yet her mother still insisted helping her. It drove her insane and she wished that her mother would just let her do the work every once in a while without her breathing down her throat. “I can handle myself,” She said with a sigh. “Why do you always have to bother me with my work. It doesn’t need to be double checked,” She said.
