Lessons of the Lantern

The Blackest Night was over, other than a few black lanterns that had escaped. The intergalactic truce between the lanterns had been established and all was seemingly well. The Green Lantern Corps was having a hard time recovering from the heavy damage Oa had attained from the Black Lantern attacks, but the other corps were assisting in different ways. The Red Lanterns were keeping Oa safe from attack while the Green's were recovering. Agent Orange sent some of his corps to help with the reconstruction. The Sinestro Corps was keeping watch over the sectors of the universe that the Green's couldnt. The Star Sapphires and Indigo tribe were helping with wounded and sick.

The Blue Lanterns had chose to help in the re-build of the Corps. They were training the young while the Green's couldn't spare the man power. Ganthet was proud to see his corps training Green Lanterns. The Children were givin their powers by the guardians on Oa and taken to the beautiful world of Odym to meet their teacher. They were assigned by their sector to the Blue Lantern of said sector. Caleb Garrison had been chosen to watch after sector 2814 by Chisyrt of sector 2813. He'd been a Blue lantern for a while, and today was the day that he was to get his Green Lantern understudy.

"I never believed in aliens." John muttered, "but if they can make me a hero I don't mind."

"Arrogant 2814" said the huge pink monster walking with the boy. The beast was Kilowag, the youngling trainer of the Green Lanterns. He wasn't all on board with other lanterns training his kids, but he couldn't really do anything about it.

"When you go before the Guardians, try not to be a little pooser." he said as he motioned John into the court of the Guardians.

"Sorry I sounded arrogant......are you a miss or a mr.?" He asked.

"I am a guy, as are all the guardians except Sayd...she's bald, so you will know who she is" said Kilowag as he pushed John into the giant room and closed the door. Inside the giant emerald room was a tall arched table with little green men sitting behind it. They were the Guardians.

"We've been expecting you" said one of the men "With every other lantern of sector 2814 being un-able to help earth, we need you to become its new protector." As this was said, a ring floated down from the table, and tranceformed John into a Green Lantern.

"Wow! Cool costume!" John said. "But...how am I supposed to protect earth?" He asked.

"Well, Ima teach you how to do that" said a voice from across the room. As John looked over he could see a young man around 18 years old in a suit like his, only blue. He stood at a short 5'7 with dirty blonde hair and blue eyes. He was slim, but built in a "fine tune" kind of manner.

He was active in his motions as he walked over to John, but you could tell he was kind of sleepy. "I'm going to take you with me, back to Odym to train you in the ways of the lantern. I'll carry to meet your lantern comrads of sector 2814, I myself being one of them." he said with a smile.

"Then why is your suit blue?' John asked. "And what is the deal with this ring?"

"Well, my suit is blue because I belong to the Blue Lantern Corps. We are a peaceful corps of Hope and Light, and our color in the emotional spectrum is blue." said Caleb as he motioned at his suit. "And the ring is what gives you your power. Through the ring, you will be able to do magnificant things. You will also need this" Caleb held up a large Green Lantern "Its your power battery".

Caleb handed the battery over to John and motioned for him to follow. "Let us go, to Odym"

"One moment, first teach him to power up his ring." One of the guardians said.
