Kelsey shivered a bit as her father scolded her for disrespecting him. "I'm sorry, sir." Kelsey said quickly in order to remediate that, and then went on to come up with the lie that she broke the glass that morning, frowning when he said that he was an extremely light sleeper. Which she knew to be true, most of the time.

"Who said I broke it in my room? All I said was that it was in my room. Key word: was." She said, voice faltering after she heard what her father decided to stay next.

"Or what?" She asked quietly, it more sounding like a challenge than a question.

John could tell that she was lying to him and he didn't appreciate it, his eyes further narrowing when she said that she hadn't said that she'd broken it in her room. His eyes were nearly slits at this point and he gave his daughter one final chance to fess up and tell him the truth, a growl leaving his lips when she actually had the gall to challenge him.

"Or I'm gonna take you over my knee and spank yer little bare butt until you decide that you're gonna tell me what the hell's goin' on," he told her, his tone flat but there could be no doubting the fact that he was completely serious right now.

Kelsey bristled a bit at her father's threat to spank her bare butt. She didn't have enough feeling to get embarrassed over that. Her face didn't go red, but instead went a little paler, a hand brushing against the front of her legs idly as she thought how that would ruin everything.

"N-Not bare..." She whimpered, her voice scarcely above a whisper. She shook her head a little bit.

The way that Kelsey was reacting to his threat was not what he would have expected from her and that was another thing that served to set off warning bells in his mind. She didn't blush and she didn't protest the spanking despite the fact that she was in her twenties. No, all she did was asked him not to spank her bare in that whimpering voice.

"Kelsey," he said, his voice even as he gazed into her eyes. "Did you do something to yourself that you don't want me to see?"

That was where his mind automatically went with her request and he wanted to know if he was right despite that he didn't want to think that his little girl would have done something like that.

Kelsey couldn't meet her father's eyes. Not now. She was absolutely sure she would see the terrible emotion of anger or disappointment. Even though she didn't look, she felt her walls crumbling down as her father asked his question. Tears flooded her eyes and ran down her too-pale cheeks. There was so much she wanted to tell him, but couldn't force herself to do it. She almost felt like she was being choked.

The only thing that she felt like she could do was break down into tears and try to pull her hands free to hug herself.

"'m s-s-sorry..."

John wanted to be wrong in this instance, he really did. Just like with any other parent that was even half way decent he didn't like it when his children were upset or in pain and now was no exception. Still he asked the question and he got the sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach when he saw the way that Kelsey reacted to that.

It basically confirmed it for him.

And there could be absolutely no doubt when she went on to say that she was sorry. That was as good as a confession to him and he sighed before pulling her close to him in a hug. Sure he was upset but so was she and right now she was his top priority.

"Why would you do something like that to yourself?" he asked her as he held her close.

Kelsey accepted the hug, which was weird in itself, because the girl only enjoyed actual hugs if she initiated it, if it was quick, or if she was crying. Obviously this case was the last option. She felt horrible. She wrapped her arms around her dad tightly, burying her face into the crook of her dad's shoulder and wept weakly.

"I--I'm s-sorry..." She repeated, hugging him tighter. "I-I just felt so... felt so dark an' h-hopeless. An' I didn' wanna whine t'you about how sad I am..." She admitted to him.

John knew that Kelsey wasn't really one for hugs and while that was probably thanks to him or something like that it still served to make him a bit sad. He looked at his little girl as she once again said that she was sorry before going on to answer the question that he had asked of her. That was almost enough to make John sigh but it wasn't because of the way that she was feeling but rather because of the fact that he'd sort of let this happen.

Reaching down he placed his first two fingers to her chin and raised it, looking her in the eyes as he said, "Baby girl... you should have came and talked to me. I don't like that you did something like this to yourself, I love you and I don't want to see you hurt. And you know that you can talk to me...I'm not the best dad in the world but I will listen."

The unstable girl sniffled as her daddy put two fingers to her chin, making her tilt her head up. She knew that he wanted her to look him in the eyes, but it was hard, but she forced herself to do it anyways, and listened to what he said, sniffling a bit.

"I... I know... I'm sorry..." She repeated. "I will n-next time... promise..." She didn't like the last part of what she said, so she forced her mouth to twist into a smile. "I th-think yer the best d-dad in the world." She told him honestly.

John really did hate to see his baby girl this upset and that made him want to do something about it, the man sort of lecturing her but he was doing it in a loving tone of voice. He listened as she once again said that she was sorry and then added that she'd remember that the next time.

A slight smile graced his lips when she said that she thought he was the best dad in the world but he was sure that was just the blind love of a child and not the truth.

"You know I'm going to have to punish you for what you did right baby girl?" he asked her, looking into her eyes with a serious look. "I love you too much to let you do things like this to yourself Kelsey."
