Neal chuckled and nodded, wiping away the little boy's tears with his thumb gently. "Yes baby, you can have grilled cheese." he answered, Neal was a good cook and making grilled cheese would hardly be a challenge. Hearing that the little one would show him how to play, Neal smiled and nodded his head, happy that he would get to play with the little boy, and play was instinct to children so he figured that Trace would have a good time all the same. Neal didn't want to be one of those Daddies that took their kids out and sat watching them, he wanted to play with his child and interact with him.

"Good big boy." Neal praised and looked over to Peter when he poked fun at him, the man smiling in return. "I guess...it just comes naturally." he answered, bouncing Trace on his hip and then walking over, "Say bye bye nicely to Peter and Alec, and we'll go." he chuckled, thinking they would need to get a bus home since the cars didn't have a car seat and he was worried about the child's safety.

The little boy sniffed when Peter mentioned that the hurting would go away, the little one didn't think it would but he just nodded his head. He smiled when he felt his hand go through his blond hair and giggled a little, looking up at his amazing Uncle Peter. But that fell and he looked sad, thinking Peter wouldn't let him see Satchmo and Auntie El because he'd been naughty, and he told Uncle Peter so.

"Yay!!! Gets to see Satchy and El!" he said happily, his tears gone and his sore bottom forgot for that short moment. He looked over to Neal and Trace, grinning. Alec waved his little hands and smiled, "Bye Bye Neal! Bye Bye Twace!" he then hid his face in Peter's shoulder, grinning shyly.

Neal chuckled, "Bye bye Alec. Be good for grumpy pants Peter." he teased the man.

"Will be good! Uncle Peter not gwumpy!" Alec laughed.

Trace offered his daddy the barest hint of a smile when the man confirmed that he could have a grilled cheese, that making him feel a bit better as did the promise to go to the park. The little brunette was quick to agree that he would show his daddy how to play even though he hadn't been to the park very many times and he smiled when his daddy called him a good, big boy. His gaze shifted as Peter said something about Neal not being a daddy, the child looking confused before he just let that one go. WHen he was told to say bye bye to Peter and Alec nicely the baby looked at them and waved his little hand cutely as he said, "Bye bye Peter....bye bye Alec." After saying that Trace turned to his daddy to see if that was good enough.

Peter smiled when Neal said that it came naturally, the man glad to see the former conman so happy. "Well maybe that will give you a little added incentive to stay out of trouble," he said, speaking in all seriousness since Trace would end up in a foster home if Neal slipped up and was sent back to prison now. After saying that he turned his attention to Alec and when the child sadly asked about not being allowed to see Satchmo and Elizabeth he was quick to assure the child that he could, smiling at the reaction that got.

"I'm sure they'll both be really happy to see you," he told the child gently and then rolled his eyes at Neal as the younger man called him grumpy pants. "Watch it Caffrey or the little ones are going to get their first lesson on the fact that you're never too old for a spanking," Peter told him, teasing him and then looking at Alec. "C'mon and we'll head for home pal," he told him, thinking that he was going to have to get a carseat for the child but for the moment he figured they could simply take the bus. It wasn't really a long trip and Peter figured that it would be alright.

"See you in the morning Neal," he called as he left the office with his little nephew still balanced on his hip, a smile on his face the brightness of which even he didn't realize.

"Good boy, that was very good." Neal praised his little boy and nuzzled his small face, proud of him for saying goodbye the way he had asked. He rose both eyebrows and blushed when Peter mentioned him not being too old for a spanking, "Hey I think I should get a reprieve considering I'm a Daddy now." he answered though he didn't think Peter would buy that since he still got the odd warning swat even if he hadn't been properly spanked in a long while. Though he did take to heart that he really couldn't afford to mess up now that he had a child to raise, and he knew Peter had no problem making sure of that.

"Okay then, we should go." Neal voiced, and nodded. "See you tomorrow grumpy pants." he smirked, hoping to get a giggle from Trace as he followed Peter out of the building and then to the nearest bus stop. "How do you think El will take the news?" he asked. "I think she'll miss me, personally." he grinned, hugging little Trace close. He then frowned, "And why does Alec look so much like you?"

Alec was bursting with excitement now that he could see Satchmo and El, and he was hoping that Uncle Peter might play with him when they got home. "Will you play wiv me, Uncle Peter?" he asked, smiling up at him, his brown eyes twinkling. "Bye bye!" he said to Neal and Trace as Peter carried him out the building and to the bus stop. As Neal spoke to Peter, Alec gripped his beloved Uncle's shirt. "We gonna get the bus Uncle Peter?" he asked.

Peter arched a brow when Neal told him that he thought he should get a reprieve now that he was a daddy, the FBI agent shaking his head and giving Neal that stern look that the young conman was already familiar with. "Doesn't work that way Caffrey but don't give me reason to swat you and you won't have anything to worry about," Peter told him before looking down at Alec and giving him a hug just because he wanted to, the man of course being really fond of his little nephew even if this was the first time that he'd seen the child in four years.

Trace smiled when his daddy once again called him a good boy, the baby already getting to the point where he liked the words of praise that he was getting from his daddy since that was something else that he hadn't heard a lot. He gripped his daddy's shirt as he was carried out of the building and toward the bus stop, the child inquisitively taking everything in right now.

"I think El will be happy, we always did talk about having children, we just never actually had any," Peter said in response to Neal's question and then rolled his eyes when Neal said that Elizabeth would miss him. "It's not like she'll never see you again Neal," he said before shrugging when he was asked why Alec looked so much like him. "I honestly don't have an answer for that one myself, seems strange but I just accept it," Peter said before looking at Alec when the little boy asked if they were going to take the bus. "That's right pal, a short ride on the bus and then we'll be home. Then you can have something to eat and we'll see if Satch wants to play out in the back yard, how's that sound?" Peter asked, hoping the child would be happy about that plan.

Trace looked up at his daddy as the man was talking to Peter and then after a moment he asked softly, "Daddy...ish Trace a mistake?" It was completely out of the blue and random but he'd overheard his mommy say once that he was a mistake and he wanted to know if Neal thought the same about him or if the man would tell him that he wasn't a mistake. Matching blue eyes focused on Neal's as the little guy waited for an answer, not even looking over as their bus arrived.

Neal really hoped Peter wouldn't end up swatting him any time soon but he changed the subject quickly, asking if El would be ready for the surprise that was a little more than a simple gift really. Yeah she wanted a child but not to have one in the morning and then have one in the afternoon was a big thing. "I guess so." he answered, "But it's a pretty big step, are you even ready to be...well...more than an uncle?" his questioning stopped there and he looked over as their bus arrived, the man fishing in his wallet for some money which he almost dropped at the little boy's question.

"No Trace, you are not a mistake, and you never will be." Neal confirmed, hugging the little boy to his chest tightly and sending Peter a teary eyed look since he hated hearing that from his child. But in the end he just rocked his child, kissing him. "Daddy loves you so much." he whispered, getting onto the bus and then paying, sitting down near the back with Trace securely on his lap.

"Yeah!!! Wanna play with satchy and Uncle Peter!" Alec said excitedly and bounced a little on Peter's hip, super happy that he was going to get to play with someone, since his Mommy and Daddy never had time for him. As Peter carried him onto the bus and sat him down beside him, Alec smiled the whole time, looking over to Trace and wondering why he was upset. As the bus started going, Alec jumped up, running from his seat while the bus was in motion and then sitting down in the closest seat in the front. "Uncle Peter!! Wanna sit at the front!!!" he called.

Peter had to shake his head slightly when Neal asked him if he was ready to be more than an uncle, that seeming like an amusing question coming from the man that had as far as he knew not had any contact with children and was now a father. "This coming from the man who just became an instant daddy? I think I can handle it, I've been acting like your dad since you got out of prison after all," Peter told him with a smirk. He was a little distracted at the question that Trace asked and he winced at the teary eyed look that Neal gave him but that was something he couldn't help the young man out with so he just placed a hand on Neal's shoulder and gave it a squeeze.

"Mommy sayed Trace was...was mistake," the little boy said when his daddy told him that he wasn't a mistake and never would be. "She thoughted Trace was sweeping...but Trace hearded it." The child had been in bed at the time, or was supposed to be, but he'd sneaked downstairs and overheard what was said about him, the child having been upset about that one since he loved his mommy.

Peter smiled as Alec excitedly proclaimed that he wanted to play with him and Satchmo, the man thinking that one was cute. When the bus arrived he paid for the two of them and then carried his nephew onto the bus, going to sit down with the child and then frowning as Alec jumped up and ran to the front. Getting to his feet he went to retrieve the child, lifting him up and giving his bottom a firm smack as he said, "You do not get up when the bus is moving Alec and you need to ask me for things rather than just doing them." Yes he was scolding the child but it was only because he didn't want anything to happen to the little boy. "Do you understand pal?" he asked as he sat back down with the little one, this time holding Alec on his lap with an arm looped around his waist.

"Mommy was wrong, you are not a mistake baby boy, Daddy loves you so much and you could never be a mistake to me." Neal explained, sitting down on the bus with him after paying for his ticket and holding him on his lap, keeping him close to his chest once he saw Alec zooming past him and he even tried to grab his arm before he went flying into the front of the bus, he turned concerned eyes to Peter and winced when he smacked the kid's backside but he had to admit he would have done the same if it were Trace who had done that.

"Owwieee!!! No smackies!!!" Alec whimpered and started to cry when Peter picked him up, giving his bottom a smack and then scolding him. "Din't mean to!" he wailed, which he really meant was, he wished he hadn't done it but of course the little boy couldn't explain that one. He nodded his head and hid his face in Peter's chest, sobbing against his shirt and gripping. "Uncle Peter mad at me!!" he whined. And the little one didn't like that thought at all, thinking that each time Peter smacked him, then he was mad at him or didn't want to be his friend and it was hard for the little one to grasp that Uncle Peter would always be his friend. "Not my fwiend anymore!!!!"

Neal put a hand on Peter's shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze, wondering if the man was okay. "Everything okay, Peter?" he asked softly and then it hit him. He hadn't even told Mozzie about Trace yet. He had a feeling the kid would like to meet his uncle Mozz.

Trace looked up at his daddy through wide and trusting blue eyes when the man told him that his mommy was wrong and that he wasn't a mistake, that taking a moment to sink in but when it did the little boy snuggled against his daddy and said softly, "Trace wuffs his daddy." Even though he hadn't been with the man for very long at all Trace was fast developing an attachment to him, the little boy clinging to Neal's shirt and then looking upset when Peter picked Alec up and swatted the other little boy's bottom.

"Grumpy pants hurted him," Trace said, the little boy covering his face when Alec started to cry in response to the swat since that just served to further upset the child. He'd already learned what that felt like so he felt bad for Alec even if he didn't really know the other little boy.

Considering that it hadn't been that long since he had spanked the child Peter really wasn't happy about swatting Alec again but by the same token he really wasn't happy that the child had decided to run to the front of the bus. So he picked the child up and smacked his bottom once, telling Alec that he wasn't allowed to do that and that he had to ask for permission before doing things now. Hearing what the child said was almost enough to break his heart, Peter sitting down and holding Alec on his lap as he said, "No baby, Uncle Peter is not mad at you. Uncle Peter doesn't get mad, I was just worried about you and upset that you did something that was dangerous and that's why you were spanked. It was not because I was mad, hitting someone because you're mad at them is wrong but spanking is different. It's to teach you to be a good little boy."

Peter tried his best to explain the concept in a way that the little boy would understand and then he looked over at Neal as the younger man placed a hand on his shoulder and asked if he was alright. "Yea it's okay Neal, just have a few things to work out," Peter told him, offering his CI a smile that was meant to be reassuring since Peter just had that mentality where he tried to make everyone feel better, or at least everyone that he cared about.

Neal smiled down at his little baby, his heart swelling hearing that and he bounced him a little bit in his arms, "And Daddy loves his Trace," he answered, kissing the little boy's cheek and then going on to ask if Peter was okay, since Neal was worried about him. "Alright." He knew Peter was a hard ass and never voiced his problems so he just took it as a normal response from Peter. Instead he turned his attention to his little boy and looked out the window with him, pointing out a few dogs and funny bilboard pictures that would grasp the little one's interest. Eventually, Neal's stop came and he stood. "See you tomorrow Peter." he said, patting his shoulder and then heading off the bus with him.

"Now let's go get you that grilled cheese." Neal grinned, taking him into June's house and he smiled seeing her, "June, there-"

"Who's the kid?" Mozzie asked, standing at June's side.

"Okay...June, Mozzie, there's someone I'd like you to meet." Neal said softly and looked down at his son, holding his hand, "This is my little boy, Trace." he informed.

June smiled and bent down to be level with him. "Hello there little Trace, would you like a cookie? Have you been a good boy for your Daddy?" she asked, wondering about this but there was no mistake the kid was definitely Neal's.

Mozzie blinked in shock.

Alec whimpered and nodded, he sort of understood and he laid his head against Peter's chest, waiving slightly to Neal and Trace as they left the bus, the kid stared out the window as they headed for near Uncle Peter's house. The kid fought to stay awake but the motion of the bus eventually made the little guy fall asleep, at least until Peter carried him off the bus. "Lovesies Uncle Peter...." he mumbled in his sleep, looking very innocent and angelic while he slept.

Peter knew that Neal was worried about him and he appreciated that from the younger man, whom he viewed sort of like an annoying little brother that he'd had to take responsibility for, but he wasn't going to say that things weren't okay so he just told the former conman that things were good and then turned his attention back to Alec as the bus continued to make its way down the somewhat crowded New York street.

When the bus reached Neal's stop and the man got to his feet Peter looked up at him and said softly, "See you in the morning Caffrey and good luck." He watched as Neal got off the bus with the little boy in his arms and then he looked down at his own little bundle of joy, giving him a gentle squeeze and a kiss on the cheek. He thought that it was sweet that Alec ended up falling asleep during the bus ride, the man cradling the little one in his arms as he got to his feet and got off the bus, walking toward his house and smiling even more broadly when he heard the child's innocent and sweet words.

"And Uncle Peter loves you Alec," he said softly, placing another gentle kiss on the child's forehead and then looking over as he saw El walking Satchmo toward their house. "Hey hon," he said as he walked up and gave her a kiss, noticing the look she was giving him. "El, you remember my nephew Alec, well it seems that we now have custody," he told her, explaining it simply and then looking at her.

"Wow...Peter I have to say that's a shock but...it could be fun," Elizabeth said, smiling down at the child that Peter was holding in his arms.

Trace nodded when the grilled cheese that he'd asked for earlier was mentioned, the child looking around as his daddy got off the bus and when they walked up to a big house his blue eyes grew wide. "House ish hugenormous Daddy," Trace said quietly, looking sort of awed as they walked inside and then his attention shifted to the people that were there, the little one suddenly deciding to be shy. When June moved to kneel in front of him the little one took a few steps back to hide behind Neal's leg though the offer of the cookie got his attention.

"Trace wikes cookies," the little boy said softly, his blue eyes focused on her for a moment before his attention shifted to Mozzie. Trace studied him for a few minutes before he walked toward the man, lifting his arms and gesturing in that universal little kid sign for 'pick me up'.
