Alexa nodded as he told her to get to bed early. "I will not disappoint you", she said honestly as she finally stood up again. "I'll go and get ready for bed", she told Alfred and went into her bathroom.

Alfred sits there for a moment, stunned at her sudden departure without waiting to be excused. He still had more to speak with her about, and it only takes another second or so for him to gather his bearings and stand up. He marches right to Alexa's room and into her bath, standing there with his arms crossed in front of him.

“Young lady! I did not tell you to go to bed, or give you permission to be excused! I was not finished talking to you!”

Alexa looked at Alfred suprised. "I'm sorry Sir. I need to get used to things like that. My apologies, I didn't mean to make you angry or being disrespectful.", she answered. In the orphanage, they could leave after everything was done and it seemed like he finished talking to her.

“See to it that you don't repeat this mistake in the future, young lady, or you'll be sent to prepare yourself for the punishment room, and told to get the strap off of the wall. Is that understood?”

Alfred turns back to the door, ready to go back to the living room. After a moment of thought, though, he decides to simply speak with her in her bedroom, instead.

“Put on a towel and follow me. I'm not going to wait for you to get dressed, again.”

Alexa nodded. "I will pay more attention in the future, I'm sorry", she answered politely.

As he left, she sighed sadly. How could this happen?! She wasn't this careless normally! "I just feel too safe here...", she thought and decided for herself to pretend Alfred wouldn't treat her nice and this place was horrible so she won't be that careless again.

Some seconds later, her master told her to put on a towel. She nodded and did as she was told, then followed him back in her bedroom.

Alfred was sitting on the edge of the bed when she walks in. Patting his lap once more, he waits for her to take her spot before beginning.

“Now, don't just sit there like a whipped dog. A little scolding didn't hurt you. You made a mistake and were reminded of it. Learn from it and then put a smile on your lips.”

Alfred takes a deep breath, trying to remember where he'd left off when he started talking to her about her schooling.

“As I said, your tutor will put you through your paces tomorrow afternoon, so that she knows where to place you in your studies. She understands your position in my household, as she should, and will try to help you balance your schoolwork with your chores. She will likely give you some ideas of how to manage your time so that you can complete your tasks, both as a slave and as a student. She's been there before, so listen to her.”

Alexa nodded obediently and smiled as her master told her.

"I will try my best to listen to her", Alexa promised with a nod.

“Good girl. Be nice to her, because I know that she won't hesitate to inform me of any inappropriate behavior that you may exhibit to her.”

Alfred strokes her back softly as he speaks to her, trying to keep her in a pleasant and receptive mood so she would remember what he tells her.

“On the day after that, you'll be accompanying me for my daily tasks. You will always have at least a couple days of warning before I take you with me on a job. I expect you to be dressed neatly and ready to leave shortly after you wake up.”
