Little Troll: More than meets the eye

(Hm, why not? I was thinking the end goal would be Arlo USA more parental figure in Sora’s life, kinda like a Matilda ending?)

Arlo chuckled heartily, “I make decent money sure but loaded? Nah not yet anyways.” They finished up quickly with the car and after collecting the towels, he lead Sora to a modern house, two floored house. once inside, Arlo gave a quick tour downstairs and explained the upstairs as they ended the tour in the kitchen.

The house is equipped with a modern kitchen and two modern bathrooms, it also has a cozy living room, three bedrooms, a snug dining room, a library and a roomy garage. It had a warm and light coloring through along with knickknacks, pictures and house plants dotted throughout.

“Alright the promised desserts.” he opened a pottery baking storage and offered her a paper plate. It was like a mini bakery in there!

Blueberry and maple muffins, mini donuts and chocolate chip cookies were available for the taking.

(Yeah, but I think I want a more nuanced situation. He can still end up as her main parental figure. Situation at home could also get worse. I mean maybe her parents get an actual wanted baby ^°)

"Wow, if your not loaded, how can you afford such a house? This is straight up luxury compared to our place. Can I maybe move in?", she asked beaming.
Sora got some desserts, thanked Arlo and began munching. "Hmmh, your a great baker, too!", she praised him.

(Ooooh, I never done that type of storyline should be amazing)

“That, my dear is called budgeting, saving and mortgage.” Arlo answered while picking a few himself before directing them to the island stools in the kitchen. Though he only set his plate down and got a couple cups.
“I have lemonade, milk or water.” came the offered choses as Arlo picked lemonade and pored some, “Oh, remember, I can’t just kidnap you.” came the chuckled answer then a warm smile, “Thank you, Sora, it’s a hobby of mine.”
After delivering the drink requested, Arlo also munched on a muffin, “Do you have any hobbies?”

"What?", she asked flatly, clearly Sora had no idea about finances yet.
"Oh lemonade would be nice.", the girl said excited. She rarely got that at home either.
"Hobbies? Well...I paint sometimes. Read...and watch a lot of movies.", the girl explained patiently.
"Your baking is really good by the way. I never had baked good this good.", she praised.

Arlo chuckled at the flat what, it was fine, nothing she needed to worry about for years to come. He patted her back again gently in another thank you for the praise.
"If you keep praising me like this, I will have to bake your favorite dessert." which was another way to ask what sweet that was.

"Painting, that is a nice relaxing hobby, reading too, I like to read as well."

"Do you like a lot of genres? I really enjoy comedy, fantasy and romance."

"Is that a promise?", she said beaming,"In that case your the best cook ever. Better than the ones on tv. I just have to pick a favourite dessert...maybe panna cotta with strawberry."
"I never read comedy or romance...maybe you can lend me one of yours if it isn´t too long. Have you read like pride and prejudice? Thats considered really good alltough its old and I think long. Sorry, short attention span. Last year I read a cool fantasy novel about orcs...but I already forgot most of the plot.", Sora said and laughed.

“That is a promise.” personally, never hearing of the dish, it sounded Italian though, confident enough Arlo promised the small blonde child.
“Hm, I still have some old comedy books, funny but relatable and they are not very long.”
Finishing up his sweets while taking another gulp of lemonade.
“Yes, loved that book, room with a view is also good hm though long.”
Motioning for Sora to come along, he went to one of two bookcases and soon selected two books.
1.Middle School Mayhem.
2. Annie and the Green Gables.
“These are comedy and romantic, if you’d like to borrowed them a try?” offering the books out.

"Cool", she said, upon him agreeing to make the Italian dish.

"Sure I take them!", Sora agreed, taking the offered books.

Time flew however and soon it was time for her to get home. "This has been nice and all...but I better get home. Else my parents will get mad.", she explained, somewhat shy all out of sudden.

Arlo was happy to have Sora’s company, it was nice to see the kid under all the horror stories he had been told. Sora was quite inhibited and quirky but a lovely soul, smart and kind. Deep green eyes glanced at the clock.
“Right, we can’t have that, can we?” Arlo took Sora’s change of behavior as being nervous at the possibility of upsetting her parents, lost was the thought of how she may be upsetting them with all her antics anyway.
Still as warm and attentive as he had been, they left the house, locked up and gently captured one of Sora’s hand, Arlo asked her to lead the way.

Sora didn't really care about the neighborhoods opinion of her, but when her parents were mad she'd never hear the end of it, so she was glad to be brought home. The girl gladly accepted Arlos hand in hers and together they walked down the street to a house that looked kinda neglected, at least as far as the small garden was concerned. It seemed subtly different from the rest of the neighborhood. "Here we are...", the young kid said and knocked on the door. "Mom, daaad! I am home.", she said and looked at Arlos apologetically. "This might take some time...", she said.
