How do you go past the blocked path? Games been great but im hard stuck at this part

You need to power the two generators with firewood. You can get 2 extra firewood by dealing with the first fairy and picking the key she leaves on the log. Use the key on the locked house south.

That being said, I'm also stuck after the second fairy. I have gotten the bread back. But I can't find the combination for the chest or any indicators on what to do. It's annoying that there is no kind of shiny effects or tips about where to go, and I'm stuck just mindlessly clicking tiles.

Also, why do the pieces of paper have no information when you click on them... I'm guessing you get something when you click on all of them. But I clicked on the one in the locked house, the one in the basement and the one by the generator... and when you are playing blindly this is just painful to play. Even more when you have to check every tile on the back of trees because you can't see anything there.

You can get pieces of paper that give you the code once you have the encrypted message. If you want to do it yourself google what a pigpen cypher is. If you're too lazy

By the way, unless you grab the note on the far left basket in the pig pen(building to the left of the chest house, just use the gate and enter next to the scarecrow) and read it, none of the other collectible pages will let you pick them up. Also unless you pick up the initial page I mention the chest won't open even if you do use the correct code.

I haven't gotten past the plants myself but assumed it would be obvious after catching the fairy that wants something precious? Any ideas there because the hint is borrowing another pendant but outside of the princess I have no idea where to get anything like that.

I thought that might be the solution but

 

she says the water still isn't warm. Should I add more fire or did I simply skip over a fairy? I've only gotten the apple fairy so far

You need to do the bread fairy too before.

Ah, gotcha. Figured it out immediately. That bread is soooo small! As soon as I'm caught up I'll see about figuring out the plant problem
