Aria listened, not that she had a lot of choice. She Stared at the woman a scowl still on her face. That is until she asked her questions. The girl stayed quiet for a few minutes. Finally she answered, "That's a dumb question. Why do you think? I don't steal I don't eat and you had a lot of money...." The second question threw her off a bit. It wasn't something she liked talking about. She mumbled, "don't have any parents..."

So she really did live out here alone. When Olivia had heard that there was a thief among the village she had obviously assumed that they had nothing at all, no home, food or family. The thief being a teenager, a pretty one at that, had made her doubt her earlier assumptions but it seemed she was correct anyway. “I suppose I shouldn’t have brought it up then,” she replied in a more apologetic tone. “I’m sorry I said anything at all. Let’s try a different question, when did you learn magic? There are others like you who were born with the ability but they may not know how to use it.”

At first all Aria did was shrug. Just in case she didn't want to give up to much information on herself. Though since the woman was a mage she didn't think it could hurt, but quite a few people feared natural magic users for what ever reasons. Still it wasn't like she was going anywhere until Olivia decided to let her go or do whatever she planned on doing. With a small sigh and just a hint of attitude she said, "I don't know, been able to do it since before I can remember. Though it's only been the last few years I've learned to somewhat control it."

Olivia was a little surprised by the answer too, but figured that the fact that a teenager at all could perform a spell was something surprising in itself. It was difficult for even someone older than her to learn to control natural magic and this made her more interested in the child. “Alright Aria, I won’t pester you with questions anymore, well after this one anyway,” Olivia said as she finally let go of the spell. “What would you say if I offered you a home as well as a place to learn how to harness your magic without the need for those pesky side effects I’m sure you’ve been experiencing. You would still feel them they just would be much much much more tolerable. I can understand if you would disagree, but let it be clear, if you do you’d still be punished for your attempted crime, by me. That and you would probably remain out here for much longer than you would wish. So, what’s your choice?”

Aria stared for a long time. The question had thrown her. So much so she didn't even attempt to get away when the spell dropped. It sounded to her like the woman was offering to take her in. She was thinking about it, it would be nice to learn to control her abilities better and not have to just survive everyday. She was a bit skeptical though. "OK.... I guess I'd say yes. But.... what did you mean when you said you'd still punish me?" The girl asked.

Olivia let out a sigh of relief when the girl said yes. Sure she really wanted a apprentice to teach, but she mainly didn’t want the girl to have to resort to what she was doing anymore. She wouldn’t be able to live with herself if she let the girl go and she ran into someone who wasn’t as nice as her. Olivia paused when she was given a question right after the answer and gave a gentle smile. “Oh don’t worry about that just yet, let’s get you home first,” the mage said as she prepared to leave the ally. She then stopped and figured telling her something wouldn’t hurt too much. “Well you tried to steal from me, which even though you failed, is still punishable as I’m sure you’ve successfully stolen from others. Since I had no attention of sending you to the awful guards that oversee the village, I was simply going to deal with your punishment myself. You’ll find out what that is soon enough, for now let’s get going.”

Aria hesitated, she wasn't sure she liked Olivia's answer but she followed anyway. She stayed a few steps behind the woman wondering if she had made the right choice. But she couldn't take it back and if she had to she could always just run. "A...are you really going to teach me magic? This isn't some kind of trick is it?" She asked still unable to believe that someone was being kind to her.

Olivia didn’t need to check to see that Aria was behind her and she didn’t have to rely on magic either. Something simply told her she was still being followed by the teenager which was a good thing as she didn’t want to have to chase her down again. “I can cast a truth spell on myself if you don’t believe me,” Olivia offered which was true. If there was any doubt in the girl’s mind she’d be more than willing to ease it. “Yes I can assure you I will be teaching you magic and that this is no trick. Again, if you don’t believe me, the truth spell is still an option.”

Aria watched the ground as they walked. She mutter a, "no..." when Olivia asked her about the truth spell. For now she decided to trust the woman. She knew that not many like her were ever taught to become mages, wizards, etc... But some of those that were became exceptionally powerful. Other forms of magic worked different from the way she used magic, but being able to sense magical fields, in the way she could, gave people like her a bit of an edge. The woman seemed well off and had the kind of confidence Aria wanted to have herself, though she would never admit that. So she followed.

Olivia was thankful the girl had trusted enough to not warrant the use of the truth spell and started the long trek to her home. The time they spent on the walk to her home was a long one. It was why Olivia rarely got out unless she needed food, her Hume was simply too far away from the rest of the village to travel there often. By the time they reached the stone steps to her front yard, the woman was exhausted but didn’t show it. She waved a hand in front of her home which was much bigger than most other homes in the village. “Welcome to my wonderful abode, and soon to be yours as well.
