Kyrael blinked, staring at the other girls, waiting for their response. She had said hello, hadn't she? Of course she had, she'd heard herself say it and remembered, quite distinctly, saying it, and had said it loud enough that she should be easily heard. Unless...

Oh, of course! These poor dears must have been cursed with deafness! Or dumbness! Or maybe even both! Oh, what horrors! Maybe Maestro Alakai could figure out what had cursed them so, and work to unravel the threads of the spell? Well, of course he could! And if he couldn't, then Maestro Jagged most certainly could. She was pretty sure there was nothing that Maestro Jagged didn't know, and whatever thing he didn't, she was likewise pretty sure that Maestro Alakai definitely did.

Then, hearing Niryn speak, and Zane's voice from around the corner of the stairwell's wall, she was, at least, comforted in knowing that the red-haired one was not mute as well as deaf and had also, it seems, been introduced to the other resident. He was fairly new here, too, considering.

There was, at that moment, a strange sensation, from the direction of the red-haired girl. Kyrael could not adequately describe it, but it was as if the girl had shouted silence. There was no other way to describe it. A simultaneous sense that she had said something, completely and utterly without sound... but, as no one else seemed to notice or remark upon it, that she could tell, she kept it to herself, but resolved to keep an eye on the girl. It was odd.

At that moment, as she was taking the final steps down from the stairs into the chamber proper, Maestro Alakai returned and addressed her. She smiled and bobbed a curtsey, nodding. "I did! Maestro Jagged was telling me of the Conjunction of the... Words of... Crystal Magic and... um... something about... understanding a word to... know what it means, because all of our languages come from older languages and... that's important."

Alakai frowned at Kyrael then shook his head slowly. "I hope you remembered to have written down all he said so you don't .. forget." he told her and looked up at the stairs a brief moment. When not seeing Sicarus didn't come down he looked back at Kyrael. "Has master Jagged told you he would be occupied or was he coming down? I would like for him to meet the new children, as I want you to as well." he asked before looking back up the stairs seemingly debating if you go get him.
Deciding not to as he didn't want to leave the children alone again he looked around spotting Niryn. "Have I not told you to clean it up? Why is it that you haven't done as told?" he asked her in a stern tone and gave her a displeased look.

Niryn simply shrugged as if it was the most normal thing in the world and left it at that. That was his answer, take it or leave it, she didn't care either way.

Hm, this went well so far. Hopefully. Kiki leaves the room behind Rashid and Alakai to go to the living room, but she doesn't know where it is. So she stays at the entrance room and waits for the master to return. It wont take long, Rashid is no one to waste time with small talk. She remains silent while the master is occupied with the other kids.

Upon hearing Alakai's voice, Haruka half rushed to his side, seeming to feel safer in his hold than anywhere else

"Oh," she said, "He... he didn't say. I'm.... I'm not certain if..."

At that moment, Sicarus came round the turn of the stairs above and behind Kyrael, walking with an ornately carved, and overly long, cane of a pale, blond wood, topped with an adroitly carved gold cap wrought in the image of a dragon's head, with deeply set fire opals in place for eyes, and chips of old, yellowed ivory for teeth. The dragon's head, which looked particularly grumpy, for a carving, was just slightly below shoulder level on the mage. It seemed he carried it for ostentation, rather than needing it for support, for his steps were even and sure.

"Ah, Maestro," he said, nodding a bow to Alakai, "I had thought there were some new folks about. Rather a diverse lot, aren't they? Were you showing off? I'd felt a few... perturbations in the aether." He stopped behind Kyrael, nudging her forward with a gentle prod, the girl looking about in surprise as she realised his intent. She curtsied unnecessarily and hurried after the others to the living room.

Watching her go, Jagged simply tsked and shook his head, completing his descent to the floor. He looked around the room, noting things askew and out of place. "Are we having them wrestle for a room now?"

Alakai motioned his head to the red head Niryn dressed in a too short skirt for her young age giving him and Sicarus an arrogant look as she stood there with crossed arms. "Seems it's the new way of showing arrival.. blowing up the front gate and kicking the furniture about." he told him and placed an arm around Haruka, keeping her to his side and kept an eye on Kiki in case she felt insecure. "And for the magic.. I wasn't showing off, they found it necessary to pick on each other with pranks so I put a stop to it. As well as 'miss temper' over there has been bound to the corner before I stripped her power. Sadly, it's not enough to her." he continued and looked back at Niryn. "Am I wrong?" he asked her.

"Whatever." Niryn mumbled in response and eyed Sicarus, giving him the same arrogant stare. Shifting her weight from one foot to another she attempted to feign confidence by her 'i don't care about anything' display, even if she was getting nervous now she was facing two masters.

Shana looked around the living room insecure and cling to Zane's hand, squeezing it without realizing as Kyrael entered. Wondering why they were told to go there and why Alakai had send her away, she was kind of liking the comfort.

Brooke dropped herself into a chair as she entered the living room, she noticed that Kyrael had just walked in too, she took an instant like to the girl but was too tired to introduce herself, she shifted around in the chair until her back was resting against one of the arms with her feet hanging over the other arm

Zane had paused when Alakai and the others came out of no where, surprised by how many people were here. He felt Niryn trying to cast something at him and narrowed his eyes at her but didn't dare to use his magic against her when there were so many witnesses. Instead he just scoffed, shaking his head and glanced down at Shana when she squeezed his hand. "Well, the two of us can go in there at least." He said to her, since it was obvious that Haruka and Niryn were not inclined to come with him. He lead Shana into the room where Brooke and Kyrael were and let go of Shana's hand so she could wander farther in if she wanted to. He looked over at Kyrael then. "Hey. You been here a while?" He asked, since he guessed she had based on the conversation he'd overheard earlier.

Sicarus eyed Niryn, his dark eyes taking their measure of her, as if he could read her entire past, present and future in a brief stare. For all she knew, he could. He held the red-head's defiant glare with his own, unblinking stare, speaking to Alakai as he did.

"Are we to give them all the ground rules first, or is this one due to have her britches burned first?" he asked casually, "Sure looks like she could use it." Perhaps it was simply a trick of the light, but the golden dragon head atop his staff seemed to have furrowed its own brow, narrowing its fire opal eyes at the girl.

Kyrael moved to a spot on one of the couches in the living room, favoring the others already present with a smile, a wave, and a cheery "hello!" as she plopped down into the seat, folding her legs to her side. There were plenty of places to sit, she figured, assuming that the Maestros would stand when they came in to do whatever it was they were going to do. She hadn't considered that couch space might soon be at a premium, and so kept her legs folded up beside her as she leaned on the arm, smoothing her skirt down to her knee, keeping one arm wrapped around her books.

She'd learned, some time ago, not to misplace important things, especially things that weren't hers, around the mansion. She still wasn't sure if Alakai had ever found that wand...

She shook her head slightly, as if chasing off the memory, when Zane addressed her. "Hmm? Oh, me? Um, well, actually, yes, yes I have. A year... year and a half or so now, I think? Well, a year, at least. I mostly study under Maestro Jagged, though Maestro Alakai has been very most helpful as well."

Alakai seemed to debate it, and nodded curt to Sicarus. "I am sure she is in capable hands with you, see to it that she learns the rules afterwards as well, as I seen what influence she can have to the other children. She can join for lunch afterwards. And.. perhaps a change of clothing? I have been tending to several guests and haven't had the chance to yet tend to the children properly, I wish to change this before giving anyone the idea I am too preoccupied to have time for them. As they have not yet seen you it would be the most logical decision." he said then and looked at Sicarus for his thoughts on the matter. He was certain Niryn needed to be dealt with, the sooner the better.

Shana eyed Kyrael for a while then carefully sat near and scooted over bit by bit, liking her cheery personality a lot. Curiously she stared at the book in her hands then back at her when she spoke.

Niryn nearly narrowed her eyes at Alakai then Sicarus thinking they wouldn't dare and it was most rude they were talking about her as if she was but a child. She was 13 so all grown in her eyes, not a child. She rolled her eyes when Alakai mentioned her clothing to be changed and thought to herself there was no way she was changing them. She liked the way she looked and they can suck it up.
