" Shikaku ran down a list while smacking down a painful beat, revealing that this spanking had actually been building up for a long time. He cracked his palm down over and over, bringing his son's backside to a blisteringly hot red and raising the temperature of his cheeks until it felt as though they were literally baking.

"Be sure that you do!" Shikaku thundered. He gave his son's sore ass one final slap to drive the message home. "When you get back from your mission, I expect you to finish up all the chores you DIDN'T get to this morning, got it?"

Privately, Shikaku grinned at his son's new, submissive, attitude. Nothing like a spanked backside to remind a guy who's in charge of you. And just because Shikamaru was a Chuunin now didn't mean nothing when his pants were dropped and he was upturned over his dad's knee.

"Alright, now get going," Shikaku allowed the guy off his lap. "Your sensei's probably waiting."

"Kuso...." Shikamaru pulled up his pants and rubbed his punished backside, wincing. He nodded at his dad's orders, silently cursing. There had to be SOME law that dictacted that Jounin couldn't discipline Chuunins without a good reason having to do with the village's safety. He would have to look into that.

But then his dad would say that he wasn't exerting his right as a superior Jounin, but as a parent. And probably spank again for his troubles.

Pulling a scowl, Shikamaru walked as fast as he could without moving too weirdly. He did his best to concentrate on anything but his stinging ass while he jumped from rooftop to rooftop towards the meeting spot for Team 8.

From the smirks he was getting from fellow-ninja, he could tell that Kiba was already getting busy.

"Hey! Hey Shikamaru!" One ninja with an even bigger mouth than Kiba's jumped over to join him. Naruto looked over at the guy with a smirk, barely able to contain his snickers. "Ne, ne, is it true? Did you just . . . get . . . aheheh . . . SPANKED by your old man?"

Off in the woods a short distance from the gate, Asuma lit up his second cigarrette of the morning. His first had already burned down to a stub since he'd arrived at the meet-up point, which in his book already made Shikamaru about five minutes late. Chouji and Ino had arrived shortly after he had, and were waiting with him for the lazy Nara. This marked the third time that week he'd been late for their mission briefing.

The man sighed, taking a long drag. Maybe Gai was right--he was too soft on his student. What would that exuberant Jounin do if one of his students kept him waiting like this? Haul his pants down and give him a firm spanking when he finally showed up, no doubt. And maybe the man had a point at that. Shikamaru's laziness had been increasingly irritating lately, ever since he'd made Chuunin.

"Chouji, go and find your buddy," he finally said to the tubby Akimichi. "If he's not here in the next five minutes, I'm going to light his backside up like one of my smokes."

"Oh, I think he's here Asuma-sensei." Replied the Akimichi ninja between mouthfuls of miso-flavoured chips.

True enough, Shikamaru landed next to them no less than a few seconds later, scowling at Naruto's attitude, the pain in his butt and the fact that later on he would have to finish his stupid chores.

"Ohayou, Asuma-sensei." He said in the friendliest voice he could muste, which still came out as a sort of growl.

"And about time. A few more minutes and I would've taken you over my knee, Shikamaru," Asuma told his student, expecting it to intimidate him at least slightly--though he was also mostly joking. But he was unaware that Shikamaru had already taken a good spanking just a short while ago and thus likely wouldn't find it a funny subject.

"Alright guys, our mission isn't so bad today. No need for travel, we can stay right in the village for it. Book keeping, mostly. The records dept needs help cataloguing our past missions. Putting the correct dates on scrolls, entering in the mission ranks, who went on 'em, any other important details you can think of, that sort of thing. Ino, I'll have you running various errands while the boys get to work, that sound good?"

The kunoichi said that it was, and then Asuma nodded to the other two. "Right. Let's get to the library then. If you two work fast, we can be done by lunch." They all knew what that meant--Korean Barbecue.

A confident smile spread over Chouji's face when he heard "lunch".

"Let's go Shikamaru!" Shikamaru sighed. The only time his team-mate ever became motivated enough to stop paying attention to his chips was when there was food involved--and he was not paying. "What a drag....."

An hour after sorting through mission three years old, the Shadow-ninja had enough. The work was more boring than listening to his mom list things he didn't do and his butt was still burning, though granted, it sting had subsided a lot.

Shikamaru decided to give himself a breather. "I'll be back, Chouji."

He went outside looking for a place where he could watch the clouds undisturbed.

About half an hour later Asuma came by to check on their progress. "Where's Shikamaru?" he asked when he saw Chouji hard working by himself.

"I'm not sure. he said be'd back back soon but that was a while ago," Chouji answered. He tried not to show it, but Asuma could tell the big guy was a little pissed. Without Shikamaru to help him he was making slow progress--and that put his free lunch in peril.

The teacher sighed. "I'll go look for him. Stay put," he said and gave Chouji a pat on the arm. He went off in search of his errant student. Luckily, Asuma generally had a good idea of what Shikamaru liked to do in his free time, and he went to check some of the better cloud-watching spots that were close by.
