"Most peoples are the same," Lexi told him when Kyle informed her that there wasn't one way that people had to be. That was the way that things had seemed to the child and so it was what she chose to tell him even if it was a very skewed way of viewing the world. She was just six after all and had lead a neglectful and yet at the same time sheltered life.

Kyle shook his head and plucked a couple of blades of grass "do you think these are both the same?"

Lexi looked at the man as though he had lost his mind when he suddenly decided to pick some grass, the girl giving him a look as he asked his question and held up the blades in question. "Uh-huh," she said, sort of dragging out the word and implying that he had completely lost it. The look on her face was downright comical as she tried to figure out just what was going on with her foster father right now.

"Well they aren't." Kyle said "People are the same way, they seem the same at first but they are really all different."

"Seems the same to me," Lexi told him when Kyle pointed out that the blades of grass weren't the same and then went on to point out that people were all different too. That was something that she wasn't sure that she believed but the girl had learned that arguing with adults never really worked out in her favor and so she decided to drop it at that point.

"Yes they are confusing that way." Kyle admitted "But they are different if you take the time to look."

Lexi still didn't look convinced when he told her that people were different, to her they were all the same. And yet...she had to admit that he wasn't really the way that she had been expecting him to be, that still confusing to the child but it was at least adding some credit to what he was saying to her and causing the child to think, even if she didn't realize that on a conscious level.

Kyle picked her up and sat her on the trampoline

Lexi bounced a little bit as she was placed on the trampoline but this time around she didn't put much effort into it and instead focused most of her attention on her foster father. He was definitely an interesting fellow as far as she was concerned and the little girl found herself wondering just what he might do next.
