New Beginnings {for Monk2024}

Lexi slept peacefully through the night despite the fact that she was in a strange house, the excitement of the day having exhausted the little girl despite the fact that she had already taken a nap earlier in the day. It wasn't until the next morning that the little one stirred, a soft little moan leaving her lips before she opened her eyes, a bit disoriented at first but then she remembered where she was and what had happened the day before.

Kyle was already up and in the kitchen.

Hearing the sounds of someone rummaging around in the kitchen the little girl made her way in that direction, Lexi coming to a stop in the doorway and just sort of gazing at him. She didn't make a move to go farther into the room and instead just stopped short and watched what Kyle was doing, the child seeming to be interested even if she didn't come any farther.

Kyle turned "Do you want just toast or something more for breakfast?"

"Do you have cereal?" Lexi asked when questioned about what she wanted to have for breakfast, the little girl finally taking a bit of initiative and making her way farther into the kitchen. Her bright and inquisitive blue eyes looked around as she walked across the room, the child taking everything in even though this wasn't the first time that she'd been in the kitchen.

"Yes." Kyle said "In the cupboard underneath where the toaster is."

"Okay, wants some of that," Lexi said when he told her that he had cereal though she paused after that before adding, "Less it's old people cereal...that's icky." She didn't want any of that healthy cereal and so she told him that she didn't want old people cereal and waited to see if he would tell her that he had some that wasn't.

"Cereal is good for you." Kyle said taking it out of the cupboard

Lexi gave the man a 'look' when he told her that cereal was good for her. "You didn' answer my question...is it old peoples cereal?" she asked again, wanting to make sure that he had heard her question and that she was given an answer to that. If it turned out that it was the yucky cereal that old people liked then she wasn't going to be happy about it and in all likelihood wouldn't eat it. Her gaze held an expectant look as the little girl stared at the man, waiting for an answer to her question and of course not willing to let the matter go until she had one.

"Its got sugar in it." kyle said "What more do you want?"
