New Beginnings {for Monk2024}

Lexi was surprised when he told her that he would have done anything to be with his own family, the little girl looking up at him with a confused look in her eyes. "You was taked 'way?" she asked him, wanting to know if the same thing had happened to him that she had gone through, being taken away from parents and not knowing what was going on or why it was happening.

"Thirty years ago right over there I met my new family." kyle said bringing the toast over and sitting by her on the couch "we sat and talked just like now and just like you I didn't understand either."

"How come you was taked 'way?" Lexi asked him as he moved to sit beside her, the little girl not making any moves to scoot away from him and instead just gazing up at the man. She wasn't sure what was going on really but it seemed that he had gone through something like she had and that made it easier for the child to talk to him, or at least it seemed that way.

"It was decided that I wasn't being looked after properly." Kyle said "I had my own opinion on that but that didn't matter, I did grow to like it enough to stay here though which tells you something."

Lexi looked at him as he answered her question, the girl looking thoughtful which was rather amusing on a six year old. "Mommy tooked care of me," she said finally, recalling what had been said about her own mother and she wanted to point out to him that her mother had been taking care of her, at least in the mind of the little girl that was the way that it was.

"Mommies don't always do a very good job." Kyle said "They might love us very much and us them but sometimes they just aren't very good at it."

Lexi stuck out her bottom lip when he told her that mommies didn't always do a good job, the child once again upset by the way that this conversation was going. "She did do good," the six year old maintained, having nothing to judge the treatment she had received from her mother by so she didn't know just how neglected she'd really been, to her all of that was normal.

"I know how you feel Lexi." Kyle said "But we can't always judge from our experiences what the right thing is."

"Uh huh," Lexi argued with him, sounding sort of meek and pitiful at that point as she pulled her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. Being taken away had been hard but it was being made harder now that she was staying with a stranger rather than in the group home where she had been taken for the first few days.

kyle put his arm round her "Its okay Lexi, you will feel better soon."
