Nightly Lessons Book I: The Book of Beginnings

[Peeker]

Janus chuckled, wondering if he could whack his sire with a ball of water when he wasn't looking. He studied what Mikeal was doing, imitating his breaking of the chopsticks. "Blood makes you big an' strong." He joked. "Got Blood?" The boy looked at the 'sticks quizzically - all the food sounded both awesome and gross at the same time, so this should be good!

The boy put down the sticks, and held his nose closed so he could down his blood. It was just as bad as the last time - on a whim, Janus poured some of the hot sauce into the other half of the cup - maybe it'd kill the taste.


Aleksandr smiled a little at that, as it reminded him of his hot sauce incident last week. He handed a pair of chopsticks to Alice. "Don't forget, you two have little hands, now. It might be easier for you to just use your fork - especially you Janus, if you never used these before. Save the chopstick practice for your last few pieces."

"...and as for things to see, I was amazed - Alice appears to have a rather adorable playful side we've never seen before." He hugged the girl softly. "It was as wonderful a treat as this-" He smiled, looking at the table. 'Thank you again, Mikeal."

"I'll be fine," Alice did her best to place the chop sticks in her hand and tries to pick up a tuna rice ball only to drop it half way. "I can it..."

She tried several times to pick the stubborn rich ball ball, ingorring Mikeal's and Aleksandr's comstant reminder that she had the fork she could use. Finally flustered, Alice simply reached out, picked it up with her fingers, dipped it in some soy sauce and popped it happily in her mouth.

"Mmmm!" She smiled at Janus and swallowed. "It's good, try some."

"I'm sure he will, Alice," Mikeal cooed at the girl. He had laughed at Janus' blood joke, finding rather cute comparing it to the human commercials. He then looked at Aleks grinning. "you're welcome Aleks. Adoralbe playful side? Darn, I missed it. Do share."

[Peeker]

"I don't want to embarass Alice." Aleksandr said protectively. "She can tell you all about her little adventures... either that, or she can make another mess - and you can help me give her a bath next time." The man pet Alice's hair playfully. "Come on love, use the sticks, or use your fork."

Janus, meanwhile, had taken the man's advice, and was carefully putting his first-ever tuna roll in his mouth. He chewed thoughtfully.

"Wow. Maybe its the blood, but that's really good!" He picked up another tuna roll, rubbing some of the green stuff all over it. "...wonder what this tastes like..." He popped the roll into his mouth.

"Why?" Alice quickly popped another piece into her mouth, chewed and shallowed. "This is easier."

Mikeal however barely managed tostop Janus as he put toom much wasabi onto his roll.

"Janus wait that's...!" He stopped short as the boy suddenly gasped for air and down the last of his blood faster then any living being should have been capable of. "... too much..."

Alice roared with laughter at Janus' expression, unknowing that it had matched her own the first time she had eatten the stuff.

Mikeal quickly filled new glass with soda and patted the boy on the back.

"Just breath, you'll be fine, just breath..."

Alice had tears in her tease, finding his expression very amusing. "You should see your face! AHAHAHAHA!"

[Peeker]

Janus squeezed his face, sniffling as his sinuses cleared out. He grabbed his napkin and blew his nose a few times before grabbing the soda and draining half the glass, again.

"Oh.... man!"

"Because its unladylike, love - just as making fun of your friend is very rude. Do apologize to him, please."

Janus forked a rice ball, chewing slowly. He finally swallowed. "....that stuff is actually really good." He said with an embarrassed smile. Smile because of the fact that he liked it - embarrassed because of Alice. "How much am I s'pposed to put on?"

Alice couldn't help herslef and stuck her tongue out at Aleks. There wasn't any disrepect or rudeness in it, just pure playfulness still left over from the playing in the bath.

She grabbed a few more pieced of tuna and some salmon and grabbed a bit of the wasabi.

"Janus knows me enough to know I'm not being mean," She reasoned while looking at Janus. "You just use a little, like this..." She lifted the tuna off the riceball and spread a thin layer on top, put the fish back on and popped into into her mouth. "See?"

Mikeal smiled at Janus, noting his embarassment, and patted him on the back.
"Don't worry, Janus. Everyone does that the first time," He assured him. "Even Razziel. In fact, he grabbed the entire ball, thinking is was a form of candy."

[Peeker]

Aleksandr sighed, and shook his head. They could worry about table etiquette later: this was a very special circumstance.

"...and that is ginger, Janus. Rather nice. I'd recommend it."

The boy nodded, and began to carefully sample all the different flavors and toppings, his supply of sushi quickly dwindling down as he did so.

"What happened when Razziel popped it in? Did he spit it back out? Or did he start running around the room screaming?" Janus giggled at the idea of Razziel, smoke coming out of his ears, spitting fire. He raised his hands above his head, and did an imitation of the 'cartoon-character-that-ate-something-spicy' "Yargh!" He giggled.

Aleksandr almost choked on his squid, but swallowed, and smiled. "I wasn't there for that one... how did you get Razziel to eat sushi?"

Mikeal laughed at them while Alice continued to treat the sushi like finger food.

"He shallowed it and became very very quiet, then ran off to down three bottles of port," Mikeal laughed at the memory. "It was by pure luck, really. some of the japanese vampires were visiting and Razziel wished for them to feel at home. It was the best nght on my fledgling life."

Finally getting thristy, Alice grabbed the glass of blood and rank it, licking her lips once it was done and then pulled on Aleks' sleeve.

"Can i have some of the soda now too?" She looked sweetly at him, swinging her small legs back and forth like alittle girl. "Please?"

[Peeker]

"That had to be awesome!" Janus laughed. "...was he really mad at you after? ...I bet he was just sulky all day...." The boy giggled. Picturing Razziel as a cartoon character was getting easier and easier. Now he had a really looong face, and a little rain cloud over his head! This was great!

"Of course love." He poured her a glass, smiling. "But don't make a mess - you're getting your fingers all sticky from the soy." He teased. "At least they were clean when you started eating."

Janus smiled at the two, bravely trying his first piece of eel. "You're really happy, Alice! I sorta like it." He smiled, blushing a little. "You musta really had fun in the bath, huh?"

"Oh he was angry, and someone had to get the blame, but it was worth it," Mikeal laughed and smiled at his to guests. "In deed, that must have been some fun you two have in there. Maybe Aleks should leave you like this more often. You seem to like Daddy's attention..."

Mikeal wasn't afraid to remind the girl of what she had called after them as they had left. He stiffled a laugh when the girl blushed red to her roots and focused on her few remaining rolls.

"Do not..." Of the times to be a horrible liar.

Mikeal however smiled. It was good to see the girl finally begin to accept life and her new family for what it was. True she probably still missed her real one, everyone did, but it was more important that she would accept life as it was now and be happy.

"But yes, Razziel did sulk a lot in his study that day so I spent time learning bits of japanese," Mikeal smiled. "Can't remember any of it, but I did learn it."
