Nightly Lessons Book I: The Book of Beginnings

[Peeker]

Whether Alice knew it or not, the connection the two had shared when she first started calling him 'Daddy' had changed a little. Repetition of the word had somehow changed the meaning for him. Now, it was Alice - this little girl - who the word 'Daddy' connected Aleksandr too.

....his little girl had spoken a different language. Their word was not the word they were speaking... So Alice's daddy was not Aleksandr's daughter's daddy... she was Alice, instead - and there was, after so many centuries, little difference in the love.

"Daddy just wants to hold his good little girl." Aleksandr admitted. "Would you like to watch some television until dinner, lovey? Daddy just wants to keep you in his arms." The man started to walk out of the kitchen, carrying Alice easily - but safely - in his arms.

"Really?" Alice looked surprised at Aleks, still whipping her eyes clear of tears while the other hand gingerly rubbed at the pain in her rear. She smiled athim. "Yeah, I'd like that."

She leaned in close to Aleks, enjoying the wonderful trip and stricking her tongue out at the different imps as they passed them along the way. Despite the rough ups and downs of the day, the ups had been wonderful highs for her and outweighted the bad ones, even if her bottom still gave off a dull throb of pain from being touched.

"Can I pick the movie?" Alice asked and smiled. "I wanna see 'Saw 2'. I heard it was pretty good."

Clearly, she had forgotten her experience with the first one.

[Peeker]

"If you wish, love.... go ahead and put the movie in - I can't really handle these new-fangled machines."

Except for a Playstation, apparently.

The man lowered Alice, and got comfortable on the couch in his 'media' room - a very large stereo, a large television, a neat little bar in the back of the room... this was the least-visited room in the house, one which had more money put into than almost any other... It would be nice to use some of it. Aleksandr enjoyed this 'surround sound' thing. It was very clever.

"Ready love?" The man scooped her back up into his lap, and got ready for the movie.

"What's this about, anyway?" He asked, as it started.

Alice grinned as she popped the movie in and crawled up next to him.

"It's the continuation of a really good ho..." She stopped short for a moment and smiled at Aleks. Maybe telling him it was a horror movie wouldn't be the best idea in the moment, at lest not until the opening scene. "... movie and a killer call Jigsaw. He focus people to play these twisted games to survive, where they have a chance to win. It they don't do it right or in the amount of time they're given they die...."

She snuggled up to him getting comfy in his lap.

"None of them are good people, his victums," She contined as the previews rolled passed them. "They're all people who take life for granted. Look it's starting."

The opening scene began with a man sitting in a chair in his tightie whites with a strange device on his neck. He was being told why he was there and that it would snap shut on him in lest then five minutes if he didn't get the key which was hidden under the flesh near his right eye.

"Err hee hee," Alice looked sheepishly at Aleks. "It's... kind of a horror movie. I saw the first one about two nights ago.... But it's really good."

[Peeker]

Aleksandr gave the screen a dubious look. After a moment of silent watching, he spoke up again. "...didn't you come running into my bed after a scary movie not too long ago, Alice? It wasn't another one of these, was it?"

There was a pause.

"Oh.... my...." Aleksandr grimaced, looking down at Alice. He hadn't thought his little girl was so.... .... .....gruesome.

Just like Carmella. It was almost... quaint. In a horrifyingly grisly sort of way of course.

"It was actually the first movie that did that..." Alice laughed nervously.

she flinched at Aleks questioning look.

"Relax, this time I have you with me through it," Alice looked at the screen and shrieked when the guy's time ran out. "You should have seen the first one... it reminded of my first night, waking up in a place I didn't know with a person I didn't know... although my foot wasn't chained to apipe and there wasn't a dead man in the room... no way!"

She sat up as the main characters, a Detective Mathews and John aka Jigsaw appeared for the first time in front of each other. John was telling the man that his son was was locked in a house with twelve other people whom all hated Mathews because he was a dirty cop and that a poisonous gas was being pumped into the house so they would have to find the antidote.

"Yeesh, can you believe these guys? And of course no one listens to the girl who's the only surviOH MY GOD!" Alice dove her face deep into Aleks chest as one of the members in the house was brutally murder by one of Jigsaw's traps. she then looked at Alkes with a poorly forced smiel. "See, I'll be fine. Really."

[Peeker]

Aleksandr looked at the girl dryly, but tucked her underneath his arms, and petted her head.

"...if we start another movie right now, we won't be late for dinner, love..." Aleksandr warned, simply. The movie was horribly graphic - at least, for a five year old. Personally, Aleksandr was rather surprised they'd been so accurate. There was alot of rather realistic - if not overly-staged - violence, and Aleksandr, for one, was actually reminiscing over some events that had occurred long before he'd become a Sire for the first time. His mind was only half on the movie, and only part on Alice, but he was aware of the fact that the film was giving her the screaming mimis, and didn't need her to have those unless she really wanted them.

"Well..." Alice debaited as she really did want to see the movie despite hergrowing unease. She glanced at the screen and saw a man begin to crawl into a large over/Furnous and instantly she felt that sense of forboding doom fill the screen. "Okay, sure we can do that. you pick then."

She cleared her throat a bit trying to salvage what little of her pride that she could.

"I can always watch it some other time so that it won't upset you so much..."

She quickly covered her ears and shut her eyes though when another death scene began unfolding on the screen.

'Yeah, later. I'll watch it some other time... like... in June.'

[Peeker]

Aleksandr chuckled, and turned off the dvd player. "June. Of course love, that's a very good plan...." He smiled. "I promise, I won't be so frightened in June."

Thinking for a moment, he picked up the other remote... and with the slowness that only the technologically-impaired possess, made his way to a cartoon station. "...maybe my little girl would rather watch something nice like this?"

...a huge pile of junk promptly collapsed upon the little character on the screen - it would have killed him instantly, of course. Cartoons were so much... nicer, though!

"After all, we don't want my lil' Alice to be frightened by the big scawwy movie..." Aleksandr smiled and kissed the top of the girl's head.

"Aleks!" Alice protested as she blushed scarlet. "I don't get scared of 'big scawwy movies'"

She sulked for a moment then smiled at him and pointed at herself with her thumb.

"Besides, Alice is a big girl, Daddy!" She smiled at him and scuffed at the TV. "Besides, I'm too old for baby cartoons."

Never the less she leaned back and laughed at the different adventures of the characters until Chiefph appeared to tell them dinner was on.

"Already?" Alice gapped and guestured towards the TV. "But 'Rocko's Modern Life' is just about to start. Please, Daddy, can't we watch it first?"
