Nightly Lessons Book I: The Book of Beginnings

"I squeezed the gate by accident. One of the pups wiggled through and opened the gate. Again." Janus was frozen, looking up at Mikeal, now that Caboose had let go of the man.

"I... I told him that Lucy and Caboose didn't want him here without you... but... he... Lucy pushed me against the cage, 'cause she was scared... and... I gripped the bars because I was getting pushed into them...." Janus lowered his eyes. "I.... I..."

The six year old was not what one might call a strong-looking little boy right now. "I..." He looked around at the puppy chaos. "I.... h-help?"

Mikeal sighed in irritation, and quickly plucked the puppy out of Janus' hands and handed it to the man whom now had risen from the ground.

"Next time listen to when I say the mortal way." The two exchanged money fast and Mikealturned to look at Janus whom was covered in bloodies paw marks from the struggling puppies. "Right, we'll get this cleaned up first and them I'll give you a bath. You need it."

He quickly fixed the gate and looked at Janus.

"Go to my bathroom and turn on the water for the tub. I'll be in to wash you in a minute." He could have kicked himself as soon as the words left his mouth. It sounded like he was babying Janus again.

Lucy and Caboose quickly grabbed the remaining two pups and dropped them into the pen, both a lot more calmer now although, Caboose gave a small mournful howl to the lose of his throne. the sofa was beyond repair.

[Peeker]

Janus was too worried about the condition of the house to argue.

He walked into the bathroom.

What did I just do?! He looked at the bathtub, as though it would have an answer for him.

I just ruined Mikeal's whole damn house.

...and what was going to happen? He was going to be given a bath like a child.... and Mikeal would undoubtedly apologize for having a temper... and hug him... and make him feel better...

...
...and he didn't deserve it.

The boy looked at the bathtub. If he'd been at... the Dornell Manor... at home...

Well, he'd be beaten. Like he deserved.

Fine. Good.

Janus lowered the lid on the toilet, and sat there, thinking. He was going to do what he should have done before he'd left the room. He was going to force Mikeal's hand. Literally.

I'll just tell him.

He waited until Mikeal walked in. Looked at the man blankly.

...you don't deserve that kidness. Do it, coward. Take what you've earned!

"No."

Mikeal blinked in surprised at the boy's sudden tone and frowned.

"No? Janus this isn't up for debate. You need a bath," He moved to pull the T shirt off and frowned when Janus locked his arms. "Janus, lift your arms.... I mean it..."

He originally wasn't angry with the boy, it just wasn't a helper on his mood to find his house half destroyed. When Janus continued to refuse, Mikeal forced his arms up, yanking the clothing off until the boy was sitting in his birthday suit. He then placed the screaming and kicking youth up and placed him in the tub.

"Janus I'm not in the mood, now behave and hold still."

[Peeker]

This was brilliant. He'd be getting the cane in no time.... just like the stupid, arrogant, destructive accident of a boy deserved.

Janus found a tear was running down his cheek. He quickly brushed it off, figuring Mikeal would think it was just a drop of water. This... He hated this. The man was being so patient... he was caring... actually caring... he was sure Mikeal wasn't much less embarrassed than Janus was - the man had to bathe a fifteen-year old that looked like he was six.

'behave and hold still'?

Simple. Janus splashed. "No." His voice was terse now - he knew he was going to cry soon. He just hoped he was being caned before it happened.

"Janus! ARGH! Stop this at once!" Mikeal sudden found himself soaking as he struggled to keep the boy in the tub. "Janus! I mean it act your age of I will spank not just now but before bed!"

He growled as the boy set about screaming at the top of hs lungs, sending water flying everywhere.

"Alright! Have it your way!" Mikeal felt his patients snap as she roughly pulled theboy out of the water and over the side of the tub. "I don't know SMACK! what's gotten SMACK! into you, but SPLAT! this SMACK! stops SPLAT! now!"

He then forced the boy to sit down as he finsihed scrubbing the blood off him, washing his hair as well.

"Don't you dare think this is over Janus Thomas Bell!" Mikeal was angry but he wanted to how why the boy was behaving so poorly suddenly. Once he was clean, Mikeal bound the boy in a towel and stomped the youth back to his room, tucked under his arm. Once there, he sat down and looking Janus dead in the eyes. "What is up with you all of the sudden?"

[Peeker]

Five smacks. It was a start.

But it wasn't enough.

Janus almost threw up. If Mikeal hadn't been scrubbing him so suddenly, he probably would have.

Wasn't enough?! Oh.... God.....

Janus looked up at the man. He was still talking to him. Still asking him questions. How... Why?

What did I do to deserve this?

Janus gasped, the tears streaming down his face again. He didn't answer - he dove out of Mikeal's arms and over his lap, praying the man would just spank him... If he didn't, then Janus was going to be crying too hard to ask for the beating he knew he still deserved.

Mikeal stared in horror as the tiny boy over his lap. Samething was horribly wrong, he knew it. It was like watching himself all over again with Aleks that day Gabby had been caned by Razziel. He had felt guilty just standing that and doing nothing while Razziel forced Gabby to ben dover the piano and take forty lashes to her backside. It would have been fifty had Aleks not returned when he did.

"Janus what are you..." He froze as h reconsided the tension in the boy's shoulders. "Janus please, I..."


Mikeal was a a lose of words. He want to talk to the boy but at the sametime he knew the boy won't answer him, only try and dig himself down deeper in some hole, until he'd force Mikeal to take action.

Sighing, mikea pulled the towel up to his wards lower back, revealing the newly washed bottom. He placed a hand onto him to hold him in place, the towel alone would prevent the boy from covering, if he suddenly would try, although Mikeal doubted it. He had to be careful, Too little, and Janus wuld just act out again which wasn't what Mikeal wanted, too much... it would be Gabby all over again; a scarred child that would flinch at every touch and a hollow shell for the world to see.

'Soft, Mikeal.... just like Aleks did after Gabby... slow,' He rose his hand and brought in down hard on Janus rear, making the boy yelp.

SMACK!

Mikeal counted slowly to ten in his mind, spacing the smacks about thirty sends between swats.

....... SMACK! .......... SMACK!........ SMACK!....... SMACK!

The flesh under his hand bounced lightly, turning a soft hue of pink but nothing painful. Mikeal forced his heart and hearing in on Janus' breathing, heart beat, and breathing.

....... SMACK! .......... SMACK!........ SMACK!....... SMACK!

"I'm right here, Janus. I wont leave you. I promise," He offered words of encouragement as he continued to spank him slowly. "Will you please tell me what all of this is about now?"

[Peeker]

Janus had yelped, and closed his eyes at the first smack. Exhaled shakily. Stared at the floor.

At the second, he'd realized something was wrong. Gone silent, closed his eyes again.

At the third slow smack, he'd squirmed, and suddenly, sobbed.

"NO! I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING!"

SMACK!.............

"S--s--st--!" The boy's tears got in the way. He couldn't speak!

SMACK! ........ SMACK! ......... SMACK!

"NO! WHY?!" He kicked, he wriggled, he realized: the towel had him trapped. He couldn't go anywhere.

I won't leave you. I promise.

"I.... J--j--" The boy's voice trembled.

SMACK! ........ Mikeal wasn't going to stop.

"D'serve.... C--c--c--ane..... I- I- I-" A fresh sob made Janus shake, and at the next SMACK! he cried out again

"HURT!" He wailed. "Sorrry! Didn'- didn'- did-id-idn't... I DIDN'T MEAN TO BE BAD!" Another sob. Another SMACK.

"Just don't...." He lowered himself as low on Mikeal's lap as he could, "...don't..."

SMACK!

"Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!" The boy kicked, and flat-out began to cry. It was too loud for it to be from the spanking - the boy cried, and wailed, and the tears rained down.

SMACK!

.......this was what he needed.

SMACK!

.......he deserved to be.... to be what? What was this? Was this pain? Or was this the man's love?

"N--nn--nnn-oo..... Notfair-notfair-notfair....." He gasped, before another SMACK! was strong enough to start him crying again. Crying was better. He didn't need to have the answers while he cried.

Mikeal keep his pace slow, his eyes fixed on Janu's form as it shock lightly from his cries. He gently rubbed the boy's back through the towel, letting him know that he wasn't going to leave him alone with this pain, this... inner loathing of himself for an acciedent that he had never ment to let happen.

....... SMACK! .......... SMACK!........ SMACK!....... SMACK! ....... SMACK! .......... SMACK!........ SMACK!....... SMACK!

"It's alright Janus, let it out... I don't want you hurting inside..." Mikeal spoke softly, as if Janus was made of fine crystal. "You don't deserve the cane... why would you think you needed it?"

....... SMACK! .......... SMACK!........ SMACK!....... SMACK!

He glanced back at the rear over his lap, it was turning a more firm color of hot pink, the pain making itself slowly know to it's owner. Lucy trotted into the room with Caboose in tow, the two of them joining the vampires. Caboose hopped up on the bed wishing to show some remorse for failing to keep things under control while Lucy sat with Januss reach, offering her fur to help comfort him.

....... SMACK! .......... SMACK!........ SMACK!....... SMACK!

"Janus what happened with the puppies wasn't your fault," Mikeal explained thinking this was most likely to mainthing that had set Janus off. "I'd told that man to wait outside because Lucy and Caboose don't like strangers. The puppies getting out was an acciedent. i know that... as for the things... well, yes I'm sad about them, but they can be replaced."

....... SMACK! .......... SMACK!........ SMACK!....... SMACK! ....... SMACK! .......... SMACK!........ SMACK!....... SMACK!

"Please Janus... what is eatting you up inside? Tell me." Mikeal pleaded.
