Janus looked at Mikeal suspiciously. "I said I was okay with the moving guys talking to me like that, not you, y' big... dunderhead!" Janus grinned, picking the stupidest word he could think of. He started to blush - he remembered last night... he really wouldn't have minded a bedtime story, then. It was something about the way he'd climbed up onto Mikeal's lap - it had reminded him of his father... of really being six, or eight, or whatever...

He wondered if he really meant it. The boy felt torn - he really didn't want to sit there and be babied... but... well, it could be nice...

No way! He blushed a little harder, and stuck his tongue out at Mikeal. Anger! Yes, being upset would be much better than.... getting embarassed like he was right now....

Mikeal grinned and wwithout warning picked Janus up and held him in the air was if he was trying to make him fly.

"Awww, you're just so cute like this," He couldn't help himself. "Almost like Alice that one time..."

He hugged Janus close.

"And I forgot to say thank you for being such a nice boy while those humans were here. You didn't even try to bite anyone when they got close!"

It may not had occured to Janus, but it was a big deal. It was a sign that the fresh blood was leaving his system and he was returning back to normal.

Well as normal as he could get.

Janus 'grrr-ed' ineffectually. Just so cute? Dammit, why did Mikeal keep doing this?! He'd just told him he didn't like it when Mikeal treated him like this!

The flailing (flapping?) that Janus was doing when picked up quickly quieted it down, though, turning into a hug when Mikeal brought him close.

He felt like a machine. When Mikeal got this close... he just... kind of had to hug him. He wanted to. Almost needed to. Like he was making up for the past few years whenever Mikeal held him.

"I didn't even think of it!" The boy admitted, surprised. "I was just... thinking about being little.." He blushed. "Am I still grounded, then?"

I ask that first... instead of telling him to put me down? Jeez.

"Oh yeah - an' what are you doing? Lemme down!"

"yes, you are. At lest until we're sure," Mikeal tapped his nose and set him down. "And sorry about that."

He watched the boy get slightly defensive but smiled never the less and walked over to let Caboose and Lucy out.

"I'm going to take a bath real fast. My back is killing me," Mikeal smiled at Janus. "If you want, you can try the playstation or you can do a little studying in the mean itme. Just stay out of trouble."

With that, mikeal walked away, making a ntoe to write Aleks about a 'childrens' photo of Janus and Alice.

Janus hurriedly turned on the Playstation, and started playing - Mikeal had some good games... alot of them kind of old, but he'd never played them before.

"Ppft. These games are from what, ten years ago? Lets see what he's got..."

"Come on-come on-come ON! ARGH! YOU STUPID.... Geeeez.... ohhh...." The boy was standing only a foot away from the television now, rocking back and forth, agitated. He was squeezing the controller tightly. "....I'm.... okay.. lets try this again.... now get over there! ....not enough move points? Come on!"

When Mikeal finally came out of the bath he glanced at the time and looked surprised. It was late. Really late, about two hours from dawn. He rubbed his hair dry and walked into the living room and looked at Janus playing the game.

"Alright Janus, time for bed," He started. The puppies had long ago curled up just as Caboose lay slowly slidding off the couch. "Saffe your game and go brush your teeth."

He turned and walked away for a moment only to realized the boy wasn't following. "Janus, now."

"I just passed a save point a minute ago, Mikeal! I promise I'll go back right after I beat this... stupid... rrrgh!"

The game flickered 'game over' and Janus quickly reloaded it, intending to murder his latest opponent before he went to sleep.

"Janus it'ss late," Mikeal blinked and growled when he saw Janus rreload the game. and stepped in the way of the screen. "It's time for all vampires, big and small, Sire's and Fledglings to go to bed. Now get your toothbrush and brush your teeth. Don't argue with me."

He walked away to fetch his own, passing Lucy whom was already sleeping on his bed, the scent of paint had chased her from Janus.

'If he's still out there playing that game when I get back, he's not going to like what happens...'

"YES!" Janus cheered. "Got it! Wooo-hoo!" He looked back at Mikeal smiling. "Can I get one more of 'em? It'll only take a minute, promise!"

He turned back to the game.

"No," Mikeal imdiating walked out and turned the game off, ignorring Janus' protests and picked the boy up as if he was a really six year old. "I can see you're not capable of getting ready for bed by yourself, so I'd better help you."

He wasn't teasing this time. He was dead serious and not very pleased either. Walking briskly, he stopped in the boy's bathroom and sat him down on the counter, slapping Janus' hand when he moved to take his toothbrush.

"Ah ah, you need help with that. I'll brush them for you," There was an edge in his voice as he prepared the toothbrush and looked at Janus. "Now open wide so that we can brush your teeth."
