But then, when they shifted to other subject, the conversation took a more serious turn.

When the boy insisted on wanting to know what some of the other kids were telling about him, Meryl frowned a bit.

But i have warned you.- she said, sighing -They say that you must be an idiot, because Mr Crosswell never spanks a student, the first time you do something wrong, but only if you keep doing what she told you not to do. So they say that, since you clearly got you butt kicked last night, you must be a moron. And i'm putting this in a nice way.- she admitted, actually feeling a little bad for him -I'm sorry.-

Wilson remained silent.

He never really disobeyed to Ms. Crosswell on purpose.

He simply forgot about it often. What was wrong in exploring a new place? Or trusting people? He never learned anything useful in the other schools he attended. Only today, for the first time he actually liked the lessons.

He shrugged.

"Oh....okay then." He then layed his back against the tree and took the poetry book.

"I...need to do my homework now..."

The istant he opened the book, it was snatched by a big, sturdy boy who smirked down at him.

"'Sup loser? Mind if I take it?"

In the meantime Logan was back at the Institute since early morning. He worked on the Blackbird for hours, and after a nice warm shower, he felt much better. He hoped that he could talk to Aprile without getting sliced alive.

He asked around, and in a few minutes he found out where she was. Logan paced casually towards her and sat on a bench.

The girl frowned to the new arrived, clearly unhappy.

Logan remained silent for a few seconds before slowly approaching April by her right side.

"I'm sorry I got away. I needed to cool off and I seriously doubted that you would've liked my company."

He sat next to the woman.

"And I'm sorry about what happened yesterday at dinner...I should have defended you much better. I was nervous, that's all."

Logan took out two pieces of paper from his jacket.

"That's why I bought two tickets for next week's boxe finals in New York. First row. After a good dinner, of course." He grinned and winked at her.

How could Wilson be so naive?

To her the situation was clear since the beginning...and she hated bullies.

April slowly put down the paper sheets, before giving a slightly side look to Logan, who was now sat next to her.

-Yes, you should had to.- she reproached him a bit, but with not much conviction -I'm a bit tired that everyone is thinking that i hit the kids. I gave three spankings at the most, since i came here, and all well deserved.- she huffed.

But a second later, when he pulled out the tickets, she couldn't hide a little smile.

The other kids laughed.

Wilson blushed, feeling a few tears in his eyes.

Meryl started to feel moved to pity for Wilson, since he seemed to be such a good kid, even too much probably.

-Why don't you go and torture someone else, you jerks?!- she shouted suddenly to the other boys -Give that books back to him, or i will tell this to the teachers!- she threatened.

She gladly kissed him back, taking her time to taste his lips, before smiling again.

-Maybe we should fight more often...i like the "fixing" part.- she teased him.

But then, just like him, she seemed to hear something so she pricked up her ears.

-I saw a bunch of them playing on the other side of the park, before...do you hear this?- she asked, while standing up -Some girl is yelling...doesn't looks like Meryl's voice to you?-

She gave him a worried glance.

-Let's check what's going on.-

The boys only laughed more at Meryl's threat.

"Oooh! I'm so scared!"

The bully said, ready to push the girl to the ground.

Wilson foresaw his intention, and with an innatural, swift movement, he picked Meryl into his arms and jumped over the bully with a flip.

The other kids got silent, whispering to each other: that was the first time Wilson ever used his power before them.

Putting down Meryl, the boy turned towards the bully.

"You want my book? Fine. But try to hurt her and you're going to get it."
