He said while putting away the parchments and books.

Kurt answered with long look as he wasn't sure did Valeriano mock him or he just was stupid. "I don't want to sleep. It's the middle of the day, and I am not a toddler, so… Of course, I don't mind do daydream a little after a good sip of a strong wine. Do you have any?"

He looked at him sternly. "Kids don't drink alcohol. You had way too much when you were and adult, surely you can survive without it. If you are not tired, then go. I have important affairs now."
He went into the Count's private study, to see if the manor needed more food and if the servants and guards had been payed already.

Kurt sniffed, but said nothing. For some time he wandered the castle, but then he decided that a nap isn't very bad idea. He has to have enough strength to not to sleep all night, and Kurt wasn't sure he can do it in this body. He didn't come to his room though – there were too much servants in there. Kurt laid down in a fresh hay at a stable, hoping not to be bothered.

Soon, it was sunset. The servitude told Valeriano that they couldn't find Kurt anywhere.
The knight immediately told the guards to search outside and he went along.
At last, he searched into the stables, and saw Kurt asleep on the hay.
He smiled: he looked adorable when he wasn't awake.
He picked him up and went inside the castle.

Kurt woke up and saw Valeriano carrying him. "Put me down," he demanded." I can walk, I don't need your help." It was almost night. Great, he was full of strength and energy. Kurt didn't show his excitement, but he was glad he can leave all that behind him. He will travel and fight again, and in another ten years his father probably would die anyway and he will be the master of the castle.

"You made us worry! At least next time advert someone before disappearing!"
He scolded him.
"Now come. It is dinner time. Later I want to talk with you."

"Ouch!" Kurt yelped and barely held himself not to kick man's nose for that smacks. "To talk about what?" he asked following the man. During the dinner he sneaked dome pieces of meat and bread for his future escape.

Valeriano went with Kurt into the boy's room.
"You surely need a bath...after being in the stables you smell like an horse." He chuckled and told the servants to fill the wooden tub with warm water.
"Go and have a nice warm bath. It will help you relax."
