Meg couldn't help herself, when she sweetly rested her head against the Phantom's shoulder. The tune was so gentle and peaceful. "It sounds perfect," Meg said softly. "It's lovely."

They remained that way for several more minutes, with Meg leaning against him and the Phantom playing his piano, when there was a bit of a commotion from upstairs. Meg didn't realize it, but everything - or almost everything - was able to be heard from down in the lair. Thankfully, it sounded like it came from the main hallway in front of the stage, and it seemed that several of the younger ballerinas had been snooping around.

Maman would surely spank me if I did anything like that, Meg thought, ignoring the fact that she knew that from experience.

Thankfully, they didn't seem to discover any of the entrances down into the lair, but Meg sighed. "Maman will not be pleased if they stay up too late..." After all, if they were too tired, then they would mess up the choreography. And Madame Giry would be furious.

"I should go make sure they head back," and Meg hopping off the piano bench, not realizing that by leaving, she would be breaking the Phantom's rule.

"But they need to go to bed!" Meg said. "Maman will be furious if they don't listen during the final rehearsals!"
