Petulant Potter :: W1nchester
"Rictusempra..." Harry muttered under his breath as he sat beneath an old oak in the Hogwarts courtyard. He was muttering because he knew he wasn't allowed to practice that spell. It was a spell designed to slash the skin of any witch, wizard or Muggle. He'd tried it on Draco Malfoy in the bathroom. Severus Snape had caught him, healed Draco and forbid him from ever speaking that spell again.
With Dumbledore currently ignoring him, and Severus teaching him to 'discipline his mind' Snape had pretty much become his ....handler of sorts. He felt like he couldn't sneeze without Snape knowing about it these days.
"Sectusempra!" Harry chanted a little louder, watching the spell shoot off and smash a rock to pieces. If rocks could bleed, it would be oozing buckets right now.
"I hope Snape doesn't catch me out here....I can't handle another..." he blushed and cleared his throat a bit. "....discipline session."
"Well, well, well. Potter chanting a forbidden spell? Won't Professor Snape be an angry Daddy..." Draco sneered to himself from the distance. The bleach blonde haired boy turned on his heel and ran to Professor Snape's office, banging the door down first hand. "Professor! I've just seen Potter out in the courtyard, practicing that forbidden spell he used on me in the bathroom!" he blurted out.
"Come on, come on Harry, you can do this." The sixteen year old muttered to himself, standing with his wand protruded from his hand. "Sectusempra!" he cried out, though not too loudly.

Professor Severus Snape did not hate Harry Potter.
He only acted as if he did.
However, there was more to the situation than just Snape being Sour-Grape Snape, it was a long history of him and anyone with the last name of Potter. The person he despised the most in the world was James Potter and Harry Potter was a spitting image of the man, except, of course... Harry's Lily-green eyes. Whenever Snape glared into them he felt his gaze softening on instinct... How they indeed reminded him of Harry's mother...
He was currently going over a lesson plan for his potions class when someone began to bang down his door, Snape growling to himself before standing up and striding to the door, opening it. "Malfoy, you best have a good reason to rudely pound down my door." He growled, before listening to the boy and then he sighed through his nose.
"And why were you spying on Potter, Mister Malfoy?" Snape drawled out his question, moving past the boy, awaiting an answer. "I appreciate the concern. Thank you for informing but, but also do not go seeking out trouble." He scolded, before heading out to the courtyard just in time to see Harry flailing his wand about, crying out something that Snape didn't need to hear in order to understand.
He had made the spell himself after all.
He strode over to the boy and dropped a hand on his shoulder, a hand out. "Give me your wand, Potter." He said, voice devoid of all emotion--completely ice cold.

Draco nodded his head, like all Slytherins he had a lot of respect for the Potions professor. "Sorry sir." he answered and rubbed the back of his neck, feeling the beads of sweat when the man asked him why he was spying on Potter. "He just looked like he was up to something, I wanted to see if my hunch was right, sir." he answered quickly and watched him leave the office and head to the courtyard.
Oh he hoped Potter got it good!
Harry sighed a bit, that time the spell did nothing. Well he would just have to keep practicing if he was ever going to master the damn spell. How could a spell Severus Snape made be so...so hard to Master? Harry hadn't really seen Snape's magic in action, so he didn't know how powerful he was, maybe it was unfair to assume?
"Sectus-" he was about to give it another go, when a bony fingered hand dropped onto his shoulder and startled him. He didn't even need to look round, he knew instantly who it was. At the order of giving his wand, Harry spun round and faced the dark potions teacher, wincing at the tone some.
"Professor! I was just...practicing that Levicorpus spell...." he lied and quickly placed his wand in Severus' hand, like a good...well trained obedient boy.

Snape rose an unimpressed eyebrow at Draco as he began to sweat on the spot, explaining that Potter had looked suspicious. Snape went on to scold him to not find trouble, before he headed off to collect the Gryffindor boy, watching as he tried to preform the spell that Snape himself had created and then forbade Potter from ever performing again. He moved forth and took Harry's shoulder under his large palm, ordering him to give him his wand.
Harry spun around, wincing a bit. Harry even had the audacity to say that he was practicing the levicorpus spell. Snape glowered at the boy, closing his hand around the wand.
"Levicorpus spell?" Snape hummed. "Interesting enough. 'Levi' comes from the Latin word meaning to lift, and 'corpus' comes from the Latin word meaning body. Levicorpus, then, should mean to lift the body." He explained, glancing at the rock. "Levicorpus does not work on inanimate objects, Potter. However, something meaning to 'always sever' would be able to be used on inanimate objects."
Snape did not look very happy at all.
"Care to translate 'always sever,' Potter?" He prompted, cold hard stare onto the boy.

Harry didn't think he was going to get away with that lie, he was a terrible liar. At least Snape wasn't as heartless as to burn the words 'I must not tell lies' into his skin like that old hag Delores Umbridge. He snapped back to reality and sighed a little bit when Snape went on to define what the Levicorpus spell meant, and with Latin relations to boot.
Then he mentioned a spell that always severs. He felt his palms sweat and he started to fidget in place, wanting more than anything to use a spell that would prevent his backside from receiving any sort of pain. He bit his lip and stared down at his feet for a few minutes, thinking back to that night in the bathroom.
Snape had been so angry and disappointed with him. He didn't want that again. "Sectusempra ...sir..." he answered and heaved a heavy, defeated sigh. "I'm sorry..."

Severus knew that if he waivered his gaze even a bit that Potter would misguidedly take that as a sign of weakness. And even though he didn't particularly like punishing Potter, it was his duty as his professor and pseudo-guardian. He stared down at the boy, prompting him to translate 'always sever' into Latin, waiting for an answer.
When he got one, he rose an eyebrow at the sigh Potter gave directly afterwards, along with his apology.
"I should hope so." He snorted. "Sectumsempra is not a friendly spell. Nor is it designed for young wizards who intend to use it for harm." He scolded, before grabbing Potter firmly by his ear, dragging him out of the courtyard and all the way to the dungeon level, near the Slytherin common room--to his office. He carted Harry inside, still clutching the boy's wand and placed him in front of his desk, Snape rounding the table and he took a seat, eyeing the boy.
"Place your hands on your head." Snape murmured, with Harry still standing in front of him. "Stand up straight and do not move." He ordered, turning back to the lesson plan he had nearly been finished with before being distracted by his naughty ward.

"But! But I wasn't going to use it for harm! Well...not really ...I was just going to master it so I could use it in defence in case one of Voldermort's goons come along!" Harry squeaked in protest and then let out a squeak when the cool and calm professor simply took a hold of his ear. It didn't hurt, as long as the professor didn't twist it in warning. However Harry knew it would hurt if he resisted as he was pulled along.
Likely pulled along straight to Snape's office, as per usual.
And he was right, he was dragged along by the ear back into the castle, down into the dungeons and then finally into his Gaurdian's office. He'd been there way too many times in his time at Hogwarts, far too many times to be considered occasional.
At the order to stand straight with his hands on his head and not move, Harry immediately complied. The teen placed his hands on his head, back straight and eyes on the ceiling, he couldn't bear looking at Snape right now, not when he was this angry with him.
"Professor...I'm really sorry..."

"You weren't going to use a severing charm for harm? What were you going to do then, Potter, slice a watermelon?" Snape asked dryly, shaking his head at the boy when he said he was going to master it in a defense against Lord Voldemort and his goons. "You aren't going to master it without proper teaching and if you want to go about getting proper teaching, disobeying the creator of the spell will get you NOWHERE!" Snape thundered, grabbing the teenage boy's ear and he escorted him all the way to Snape's office.
He deposited the boy in front of his desk and he took a seat at it, ordering him to place his hands on his head and to stand straight, and to not move. Standing and thinking of his actions whilst his legs grew numb should be a good punishment.
"Hush, Potter." He said firmly when the boy apologized once more, Snape scribbling away at his notes. It took him a good fifteen minutes to completely finish up his lesson plans before he meticulously put everything away, Snape scooting his chair back some and he looked at Harry sternly.
"I'm sure that you realize that you're in trouble. And I know that you know why you are in trouble. Now, all that is left is to be punished for the trouble you have caused and have time to reflect." Snape iterated. "Assume the position, Potter."

Harry winced quite a bit when Snape told him that disobeying the creator of the spell would get him nowhere, "I'm sorry!" he whined when the Professor thundered at him. He was pulled along and then found himself in his office, hands on his head, standing straight. He couldn't stop his legs from trembling though, knowing that Snape was going to wear out his backside with that cruel....but also somewhat comforting hand.
Since their time together, the two had grown closer and Snape did show Harry some comfort and assurance now and again, when he needed it most of course. Harry didn't think ill of Snape anymore, but rather like a strict, motivating school master ...or parent.
He gulped a bit when Snape ordered him to assume the position, he just hoped he wouldn't have to ask for him to punish him this time. The boy obediently walked over and lowered himself across Snape's firm lap, jutting out his backside for punishment.

Like aforementioned, Snape did not hate Harry Potter, nor did he like to punish the petulant boy that found himself bent over his lap nearly four out of seven days of the week. The boy was a magnet for trouble and Snape had to be there for the child to assure he didn't stay a spoiled brat forever. Snape believed that he and the boy were making good progress, however. Potter hadn't continued to be so utterly insufferable. He had learned some manners.
Snape ordered Harry to come and assume the position, leaning back and waiting for the boy to comply. Harry shakily headed over and bent himself over his lap. Snape took a moment to adjust him over his strong knees, placing one hand on his lower back to hold him still for the thrashing he was about to give him. It was growing eerily silent, however, as Snape made no moves to start Harry's spanking. He stared down at the boy.
"Potter." He prompted. "Is there anything that you would like to ask me?" He hinted, suggesting that the boy should ask for his punishment, rather than Snape just dole it out.
