"Can she sleep with us?" Alessandro inquired. "I'll keep her on my side so that she won't bother you."

As Lorenzo continued to eat, he’d listen to what his partner had to say and thought about his next words carefully. While he’d allow him to keep the dog, he wasn’t so sure he wanted to have the dog in bed with the two of them.

“Now now, I think she’s fine sleeping on the floor,” he answered. “I wouldn’t want her shedding in the bed.”

Alessandro pouted slightly at that, letting his hand upwards so he could twist a lock of his long dark hair around a finger. He really had hoped he'd be allowed to have the puppy in bed with him, because in a lot of ways, she was some sort of baby replacement for him. He certainly wasn't at the point in his life that he felt like taking on all of the responsibilities of parenting, but he did have all those urges to dote on something and love it...

"Maybe...a puppy bed beside ours?" he negotiated. "So I can reach down to pat her if she has a nightmare."
