Queen Amara Servin slowly made her way though the small town that was located just a few miles outside of the castle walls. Two armed foot soldiers flanked her on either side as she walked over to a slave trader's auction block. her steely blue eyes scanning over the man's human stock. "I need something that will be old enough to be a personal servant for me....fetch me things and the like." she stated in her monotonous voice as she glanced around the room.

It was a bleak place to be and the prospects of going anywhere better, bleaker still. Eleven year old Katya was standing with some of the others that were waiting for someone to buy them, her blue eyes shifting around and getting slightly wider than normal when the cruel slave trader came and grabbed a chain that was attached to shackles at her ankle. He snapped at her to come and she had no choice but to obey as he pulled the chain, the girl stumbling along behind him as he lead her toward a few people, Katya looking down and not making eye contact.

"Would this one be to your liking Your Majesty?" the man asked, trying his best not to look or sound greedy though of course he was only interested in the money that he would get for the girl. He couldn't care less what happened to her after that.

"Yes....she will do." Amara stated, putting down three golden coins in return before she added "Unchain her...I doubt that she would run." Amara, despite her somewhat harsh tendencies she didn't like seeing anyone bound. however her voice never changed despite her command.

The man had to refrain from snatching the gold that was offered to him, taking it and placing it in a money pouch before nodding when the Queen ordered him to unchain the girl. "Very well Your Majesty," he said, moving to unchain the girl and then giving her a look. "Behave yourself Katya," he told her, not really caring if she did or not, he just said it to keep up appearances.

Katya looked at the woman as she handed over the gold, something of an awed look in her blue eyes though she didn't say anything. When the chain was removed she was relieved since it was heavy but didn't try to run off or anything.

"come Katya." Was all the queen said, though she waited to see if the child could follow her since the weights had held her down for so long. The queen made sure to slow her pace as she lead the girl back toward the stage coach that she had rode into town. The stage was lead by two, pure white glossy stallions with braided black manes and tails and driven by yet another armed soldier. "You will ride in the cab with me." Amara decided as she glanced toward the girl before climbing inside.

Katya turned her eyes briefly to the Queen as the woman told her to come, the little one bowing her head in acknowledgment of the order and moving to trail along behind her. She was careful to keep a respectful distance back because of her station but she obediently followed along, not wanting to do anything to make the woman mad. Her gaze went to the coach when they reached it and she wanted to go and pet the horses but didn't dare and instead nodded her head again when told that she would ride with the Queen. "Yes Mistress," she said quietly, showing that she could speak though her tone was quiet.

Amara reached out a hand to help the girl. "its kind of a high step." she stated then asked "How old are you girl?"

Katya was kind of scared to touch the woman and so she hesitated a moment before taking the hand that was offered to her tentatively. The question about her age caused Katya to think about it for a few minutes before she replied quietly, "Um, 11 I think Mistress." She wasn't one hundred percent sure about that but that was how old that she thought she was so it was what she told the woman, hoping that the Queen wouldn't get mad because she didn't know for sure.

Amara nodded as she helped her inside. The queen let silence creep over them however then she stated "you can ask questions if you wish."

Katya was visibly nervous as she sat in the carriage with the Queen, the girl keeping her gaze carefully averted since she had been taught not to make eye contact with those that were better than she. Thoughts of what her life was going to be like now flitted through her head and Katya actually jumped when the Queen spoke up again and told her that she could ask questions if she wished, the girl glancing up and then looking down again, unsure of what to ask. It seemed easier to her to just maintain her silence.
