The Queens new servant(for cleverfox)

"wicked people use pain in such a manner child. If pain should be used it should be used to prevent something and only used in a modert way so that no real harm is given. The man who hurt the horse should be shown what it feels like however sometimes Pain will not give the desired results. A criminal such as a theif is whipped because it is a petty crime and he is less likely to do so again just as a child is spanked....it is not to cause harm but to try to correct a behavior and it should never be done to control the person or in anger. It should always be done in a way that minimal damage is done and sometimes compassion gets through to people faster than anything else."

Katya gazed up at her mistress as the woman explained things to her, that being something that no one had really ever bothered to do with the child before. Usually she was just told how something was and that was the end of it so to have things explained was something she wasn't used to but at the same time it made the child stop and think. Thinking back she recalled what the queen had done to her earlier and she nodded her head as a slight bit of understanding appeared in her eyes. "I understand," she said quietly but she wasn't just saying it because she thought that it was what the queen wanted to hear, she really did understand.

"Okay child, But if he does hurt that animal....or anything again I will have him punished severely." The queen stated with a smile then added "Now why don't you play?"

Katya wondered briefly if the man was dangerous but she didn't pose that question and instead just nodded when she was once again coaxed to go and play. "Alright... might be fun," she said quietly as she turned to walk over to the toys, Katya not really accustomed to acting like a child so she wasn't quite certain but having the chance was enough to bring a slight smile to her face.

"You're a little girl...its time for you to act like one." The queen stated with a smile

When the queen told her that she was a little girl and should act like one Katya looked up at her and replied, "But I am a slave." To her that was part that was inescapable and she had long ago been taught how one of her station was to behave and it was hard to break away from that training even if it was at the behest of her mistress.

"actaully you are only my help not my slave. No one here is a slave, plus you are a child....you'll do small chorse around the place but that is all that you will have to do young one."

"But I've always been a slave...it's what I was born for," Katya told her when the queen said that she wasn't a slave and was instead just her help and would do small chores. The girl had always been a slave and now to suddenly be told that she wasn't, well that was definitely a shock for Katya.

"child no one is born to be a slave....each of us have just been handed a different hand in life. Now you do not have to be a slave and you will not be treated as such. you may hear me yell at you sometimes if you do something so dangerous like that horse incident today but I will never treat you as badly as a slave."

"It is what I was told," Katya said when she was informed that no one was born to be a slave but she once again got that hopeful look in her blue eyes when told that she was not going to be treated in that manner. That was a relief and Katya could actually hope that she had found something better in this instance. 'You are...nicer than I thought you would be Mistress," she said quietly, sounding tentative but still speaking her mind.
