Katya looked nervous when she was asked what she had been expecting and even the queen's words about being able to tell her the whole truth didn't really serve to set the child at ease. "Um...you will be angry with me if I tell you," she said quietly, fidgeting as she gazed at the woman, toying with the folds of her skirt and hoping that her mistress wouldn't press her for an answer to that.

"You might," Katya said quietly when told that she could tell her mistress and that the woman's opinions of her would not change. The little blond girl continued to fidget for a short time before she finally took something of a shaky breath and said, "I thought you were going to be cruel...I've heard stories about how royals and nobles act to people beneath them...I thought you'd be the same Mistress...I was wrong." She added that last bit in an attempt to mitigate whatever damage she might happen to do with her words.

"Katya, I know what stories that you probably have heard however not everyone is like that. Its okay to be nervous about a new place." Amara stated, trying to be reassuring as she spoke.

Katya nodded her head slightly and replied, "I know you can't believe everything you hear but...it's really all I had to go off of." She felt that she should defend her words in some way, along with her way of thinking, and she really did understand that everyone couldn't be like that. But that hadn't stopped her from being worried about it when she was bought by this woman and brought to the palace to serve her.

"I really...really am grateful," Katya told her, stumbling over the words a bit and sounding nervous but she was sincere. The little blond knew that her mistress hadn't had to give her any of the nice things that she had and she really was appreciative, much more so than a more privileged child would be because she literally had nothing before this. Looking up at the queen Katya offered the woman one of her rare, small smiles.

"I-I would like that very much Mistress," Katya said when the queen said that they would go for a walk after the evening meal. The little girl was trying to be more open and not simply respond with the one or two word responses that she had been giving previously but that was going to have to be a work in progress for her as she was used to saying the least amount possible.
