Thinking back to what the officer had mentioned, she hummed. "Why is that, if you just lost your parents two months ago?" It was clear the boy was lying, but why?

"Of course you do!" Belle replied cheerfully. "But some things just need a little bit more care," Giving the girl an affectionate pat on the head, she began mixing a few spices into the rapidly browning meat, then added hot water to the bowl Jackie was stirring. "There we go! Just mix it smooth and it'll be ready. Now, it'll thicken up a lot, so just let me know if your arm gets tired."

As they pulled up to the foster home there was a man about 30 siting outside who looked like he had been waiting for Juno. he looked down at Juno as they got out of the car "hey juno. why dont you go play inside while i talk to this lady you bothered..." he said smiling at Juno

Juno slowly nodded and ran inside

the man looked at her "im so sorry if he was a bother to you..." he said putting his hand out "Im Jason..." he said "one of the foster care workers." he said pointing to his badge. "he can be very michivious. im very sorry..." he said as he looked at Cecilia

She firmly shook the man's hand and watched as Juno ran back inside. "The boy was no trouble, except for maybe being a bit of a thief, but no worries." Smiling, she introduced herself. "I'm Cecilia. The boy and I had a heart to heart, he should be a bit less of a runaway now, I hope."

Jason looked at her "well ill be sure he gets a proper consequence..." he said "well i should go deal with him now..." he said "if you EVER need anything feel free to call..." he said smiling

Just then Juno came running out and hugged her tightly "th...thank you..." he said

"Be good to the boy, alright? He kept my daughter from a less-than-pleasant situation, so I'm indebted to him, a bit." She started to walk away when a familiar little blonde head came racing towards her, and she grabbed him in a hug as he nearly tackled her. "I don't know what you're thanking me for, Kiddo, but you're welcome, I guess. You be a good boy now, alright?"

Juno quickly nodded "otay..." he said trying hard not to crying as his lip quivered a bit. he then turned and walked slowly away but he kept looking back then finally went inside shutting the door behind him.

Jackie still helped Belle cook te meal until she stubbed her toe on the lower cabinet screaming out the very foul f word.

Cecilia got back in her car and began the drive home.

Belle cringed as she heard the sound of the young girl hitting her foot. "Oh, dearie, are you alright? That even sounded painful!" Crouching down, she examined Jackie's foot. "Ah, it's just a stub, you should be okay, it'll just be sore for a while." Flipping the flat, round doughy thing in the pan, which she'd made from the dough Jackie helped her to make, she then went to the freezer and took out a First-Aid ice pack and handed it to Jackie. "Go sit and hold this on your foot, okay?"

Jackie nodded sitting down and resting it a bit. she placed the ice pack on it.

When Cecilia got home about a half hour later, Belle was setting dishes out for a buffet-style taco night. The soft tortillas she'd made with Jackie's dough were warm and ready to be used, the ground meat hot in the pan, cheese shredded and every vegetable topping anyone could possibly want. To the side was sour cream and salsa, set out with spoons. "What's all this?" She said, surprised, and smiled at Jackie, then frowned when she saw the ice pack. "Awh, what happened, Hon'?"

Jackie looked at her mum "i hurts my leg...." looks around curiously. "wheres Juno?" she asked limping to the door to look outside.
