Sorry I can't get back to everyone at the moment.

That is definitely a bug, that camera should be the fastest moving in the game. Like below every second, and the timing is required in order to be able to make it. I've re-played that part a few times and couldn't reproduce your issue, making it hard to fix… maybe it's a performance issue? That only appears on some computers?
Ca anyone here confirm the same issue? Or anyone being able to successfully escape via the elevator? (requires to not give up your clothes when first entering the building)

Thanks! No best ending yet. Worst one is reached by having too much damage when you reach the headmaster, absically to prevent savegames with a state that can only ever result in a regular game over. The full game should have more failure conditions to reach that ending, for example not having anything to trade with Jay at the end.
I like that NG+ idea, I'll put it a s a nice-to-have on the todo list.

When first getting upstairs, you first need to hide to the right behind the wall. The boxes can be crouched behind, but that will only help you when the guard moves back to the right. Crouching behind the flower pot has the issue that there is a diagonal gap the guard can spot you through.

Interesting. Can't reproduce that one yet. Does anything else happen during that black screen? Any text/error message? Were you already trying to escape or was this before going to the headmaster?
General Note
Some areas do have a "one right path", yes, but most of them I made sure have at least two. For example in the headmasters office you can also just run around the table and crouch when he turns, though right before the end you have to dash away from the table before both converge on it.
It's a divisive game. I know now that to broaden the appeal I'll try to find a way to mitigate the difficulty for more casual players before adding more stuff to it.
I personally don't mind the challenge, but I'm also the type of person that grew up playing Super Mario where you had to restart the entire game after dying three times. Or replaying darksouls boss fights until I can figure them out. But not everyone is like that. I still hope to preserve that challenge for players who like it though, with some extra payoff for doing it. I'll try a few things. It will take time though.
I also had someone offer to help out already

But there's room for more.
