Reforming an Assassin

Slowly the car stopped in front of the small, but comfortable looking house at the edge of town which Richard and his young ward would now have to share with each other. It definately had been risky of the court to allow the girl to live the life of a normal teenager instead of locking her up somewhere safe. But then again Richard Wilson was no ordernary high school teacher. His skills in combat, gained in a militar career he did not like to talk about probably as great as the girls, but he thought that in case of an emergency he could defend himself against her until help would arrive.
The middle aged man quickly got out of the car and opened the door where the girl was sitting in the back seat. "Welcome!", he declared smiling,"I hope you´ll like your new home." While he waited for the teenagers reaction he scratched his well trimmed beard, a gesture typical for him, that alongside his glasses made him look like an intellectual despite his broad shouldered, muscular body.

Trista's expression was blank as she looked over the area.
"Thank you." she stated simply as she got out, grabbing the small suitcase that contained all that she owned.

She was unsure what to do or say since most of her life she had just been taught how to push her emotions aside and to kill. However she was away from all of that now and felt hopelessly lost....even if she didn't show it.

Richard squeezed her shoulder lightly. "Well, lets get inside. I´ll show you everything", he said friendly and lead the girl inside the house. She had her own room with lots of space for herself, but otherwise the house was rather small, except for the book shelves which where everywhere, indicating that her new guardian loved to read. Richard made good on his promise to show the girl everything and then went to the kitchen. "I´ll make us lunch now, if you don´t mind. If you like watch some Tv or something. You don´t need to help if you don´t want to", he explained to her before starting to prepare Spaghetti.

"I can help...I'm use to cooking for myself anyway....as well for my family when they were around." Trista stated, following him.
"So what exactly do I do here?" she asked, keeping the same monotone.

The judge had said for her to live a normal life but she hadn't had any experience with people outside of her clan and family and all of them had the same emotionless demeanor that she had now.

"Very well, I certainly appreciate that", Richard said and grinned, alltough he wished the girl would stop talking in such a monotone voice and show some emotion. "You are supposed to learn how to live like a normal teenager. Without the fighting, the killing and all that. I am supposed to help you, so I will provide an environment for you in which you have the peace and freedom to develop yourself", he explained. "But, in case of you making trouble I also have the duty to disciplin you, no matter how much I hate it", he added.

She merely nodded and sighed "So I suppose I'll be going to school?" she stated questioningly, having never went to school since her family homeschooled her thus she didn't know anyone her own age.

"What are my restrictions here? May I still practice Kendo?"

She asked, her tone the same even though she hoped that she could keep on practicing martial arts since that was something she had taken up out of interest in the subject besides her family's bidding.

"Yes, I am afraid you´ll have to. Please try to be respectful to the other students and fit in", he told her, "There are few restrictions in this house. You are not allowed to be out after curfew or attempt to run away. No alcohol, weapons ... pretty much everything is not allowed that other teenagers also musn´t do." He scratched his beard slightly before saying," Kendo is fine, I am not here to opress you, Trista."

"Thanks...and besides I don't drink or smoke....Tried whisky once when I was younger and I was sick to my stomach for two days." Trista stated then she smirked slightly "and smoking smells terribly. If I'm out after curfew it'll be on the grounds...Sometimes at night I can't sleep and I walk around but as I said....I won't leave your property."

"If I had caught you drinking I would have laid you over my knee", Richard said chuckling. It was mostly a joke, but he also wanted to say early that his favourite method of disciplin was spanking, so it wouldn´t be too much of a surprise for the girl later.
"I am afraid I can´t allow this at the current point. The judges still mistrust you. When you have to walk stay inside please", he explained.

Sighing she nodded.
"We lived in different worlds. I was homeschooled most of my life and you can only imagine how that was."
