Tommy hadn't really thought about controlling the dog, but it looked pretty easy when his mother did it. "OK I can." he said confidently.
He took the leash back. He held it shorter so the puppy couldn't get as much room to maneuver. The puppy was between Tommy and Hanna so it was a bit more controlled but ti did get farther ahead and farther behind than it had when Hanna had been controlling it. When the dog tried to walk around, him, Tommy tugged on the leash to keep him beside him. "You have to stay here." he told the puppy.
Tommy tried to whistle at the dog, but only a breath came out. He scowled. "That's another thing I forgot how to do." he said looking up at his mother.
As he took his attention away from the dog, it walked around him again looping him with teh leash. "Hey!" Tommy said. "I told you, you're not s'posed to do that no more. Now go back!" The dog sat and looked up at Tommy with its tongue hanging out, but it made no motion to untangle.
"Do you think he's thirsty, Mommy? See his tongue."
