Quickly gripping the reins, she winced at the sound of the other gunshot. She pulled on the reins swiftly, jerking the horses to the left as she rounded the hill. The wagon bounced violently but eventually the horses righted themselves, pulling themselves and the wagon to the other side. Their speed increased as they went downward on the hill.
"Think we can lose them on the road?" She shouted to Thomas, although not taking her eyes off of the road in the distance, "Did you see any following?"

Thomas saw three men that was attempting to follow them as they had gotten on their horses. " There`s three men...but I think we have too big of a lead for them to catch up to them." he said as their speed increased. " We`re losing them. I can barely see them anymore." the blonde said as the three men eventually dissapeared in the distance. " Ok...you can slow down now." he instructed. " Just who did we take this from, anyway?" he asked.

With a deep sigh of relief, Beth brought the horses down to a brisk trot. The wagon bounced against the dirt tracks rather uncomfortably. Beth thought about Thomas' question hard, not wanting to reveal too much about herself.
"Whats it matter?" She spat out, pulling the reins to take a left at a fork in the road. She glanced behind her nervously before continuing, "You don't need to know."

" It does matter quite a bit. I doubt that it was just some random strangers...I think we`ve taken this from someone you know." Thomas stated as he gave Beth a cocky smirk. " You knew the way there and how to get this wagon out of there, after all." he added and chuckled softly. " I think I have a right to know it, Beth." he said as he put his gun back into its holster. " It`s no use keeping secrets, by the way. We are going to spend a lot of time together, you know." the blonde said as he gave her a small smile instead of a smirk.

Glancing over and seeing Thomas' smile, Beth rolled her eyes and allowed the horses to slow down to a more comfortable pace. She sighed, "Do you usually want to get to know your employers this well?" she asked off-handedly.
"I know them, but it doesn't matter how." She said curtly, "And I don't know if you deserve to know how. I told you not to shoot and you did. I thought you people were supposed to listen to your employers. I'm the one deciding how much you get paid, after all."

" Not usually. To be honest, I only prefer to get the job done and then break all contact...but you`re my first client to have ever set the wheels in motion so soon. You`re kinda fascinating, in a way." Thomas said and briefly looked down at his gun. The bounty hunter rolled his eyes at Beths next comment. " Oh, please...I`m a bounty hunter, I can do whatever I want. You`re not my mother, you know." he snarked at the slightly younger woman.

"Well, excuse me, I've never hired one of you before." She said with another roll of her eyes. The area around them was slowly turning to the plains, hills becoming hard to find and the grounding growing flatter as they went. She looked around a bit in confusion before shaking her head. Quickly, she pushed the reins over towards Thomas.
"I have no idea where we're going." She admitted with the slightest hint of embarassment, "You said you know how to get to Big Hill? Then you take us there. It should be a couple days out, I think." She stared at Thomas she she held the reins to him.

" Compassion for people trying to gun you down doesn`t help you at all, just so you know." Thomas said and smirked at her again, he also chuckled when the woman admitted to having no idea of where to go. " Heh, I told you that your gender can`t do this." he teased as he took the reims and changed the direction slightly. " We`re about two-three days away...which means we have to sleep in this thing for some nights." he stated as he looked at her. " Can you handle that?" he asked. " It`s not a bed, but it`s something atleast."

The thought of sleeping in the wagon wasn't very endearing to Beth. She looked back at the old wagon with a slightly disgusted face. The wagon had gotten very little use in recent years. Her father had used it when he first started their ranch but it'd done nothing more than sit in their old, forgotten barn for years. It was dusty and smelly and sported nothing more than a thick, white tarp over it. She sighed as she looked forward.
"I'll be fine." She muttered as she looked at the big, wool blanket hanging out of George's saddlebag, "We've only got one blanket. I'm gonna assume you won't object to me claiming it, right?"

Thomas arched an eyebrow at Beth when she went ahead and claimed the blanket. " You assumed wrong. You got the bed back in the town, so I get the blanket now. It`s only fair." he said as he gave her a slight huff. " If you get cold you can always borrow my trenchcoat. It isn`t much, but it will at least cover you." he said as he snatched the wool blanket to signal that it was his.
