Social Groups, how private can they be?

I've never dabbled in the "Social Groups" function here, but am curious about using one for private beta testers for my video games (since coordinating this via PM is a huge pain due to the understandable limit of 5 recipients per message).

I think I set the one I made to "invite only" and "only members can see posts" but where do I check this is set up right?

Also, does this mean what I assumed: the group is either hidden from non-members or at least none of the discussions can be seen by non-members? Obviously I can see everything since I created it, but I thus have no way to know what is hidden from others.
