Michelle nodded her head quickly when Shadow said she should be getting home and just like that he ran off almost as fast as Sonic did, she then turned to Sonic who just stood up and said they were going home but warned her that Amy was going which made the little girl cringe Amy was alot less patient and stricter then Sonic was and if she found out about her failed mark she was certainly going to get two hard spankings before bedtime. As she slowly followed Sonic home she sighed 'Well Shadow you may have just gotten me into more trouble now' she thought.

Amy was cooking dinner at Sonic's house when he and Michelle finally arrived home.

"Well, this is different," she remarked, "Sonic, late."

"I'm sorry," said Sonic, "But Michelle got it into her head not only to visit Tails before telling us, but also to run off into the forest. I haven't even had the chance to punish her for that." He quickly told her about Shadow.

"Again? That wouldn't be the first time," Amy muttered, "Well, what do you think we should do?"

Sonic looked at Michelle.

"We'll see," he said, "So, anyway, Michelle, how did you do in school today? I understand you had a test, right?"

As they arrived home Michelle was lead into the kitchen by Sonic to find Amy there preparing dinner, she quickly looked down at the floor as Sonic told Amy about what she did today going straight to Tails' house instead of coming home first and asking permission and then as they were headed home her little detour through the forest. She blushed bright red when he explained how he hadn't had the chance to punish her for her offenses......yet making the little girl shallow hard, especially when Amy asked Sonic how he thought they should handle her. However her heart pounded when Sonic asked her if she had a test today she tried to decide what would be the worse choice for her, if she lied Sonic and Amy would find out and punish her harder but if they saw the mark they would be disappointed and give her the punishment they promised they would give if she failed another test, the little girl stood there confused and alittle scared of what to say to her parents.

Sonic and Amy looked a little confused by Michelle's silence.

"Is something wrong?" asked Sonic.

"Come on. Tell us how you did," said Amy encouraginly.

Michelle looked up as Amy tried to persuade her to show them how she did on her test, she gulped and pulled her backpack off her shoulder and pulled it out, it was folded up and alittle crumbled she decided to tell them the truth and then beg they forgave her "N...not to good I'm sorry" she said handing the paper to Amy looking now she was so uneasy at how they were going to react to it.

Amy took the piece of paper and she and Sonic both read over it carefully. They then looked at each other in concern...before finally turning back to Michelle.

"Michelle, what happened?" asked Amy, "This is the second test you've failed now and this mark is even lower than the previous one."

"After you failed the first test, do you remember what I told you?" continued Sonic, "If you get stuck like that again, don't be afraid to ask me, or Amy, or your teachers."

"Wait, you mean she didn't?" asked Amy, confused, "She told me she'd been speaking to you about it."

The two hedgehogs looked at each other, then back to their adopted human daughter.

Michelle looked at them both feeling more and more nervous then before, she never asked either of them for help with her work and whenever Amy asked if she needed help she would lie and say that Sonic and had already helped her, she wasn't sure whether she wanted to do it on her own because she felt stupid for not understanding it, or she was too embarrassed to ask because the one time she did at school during class all the kids laughed at her and the teacher told her that the only way she would be able to help her was be having her come either thirty minutes early before class or staying after school but Michelle hated getting up earlier then she needed to and after school was her play time so she never showed. Michelle kept her head lowered "well you see I.....I was doing it on my own I...I just wasn't doing it right" she mumbled.

"Michelle, that isn't good enough," said Amy, clearly more than a bit annoyed, "Not only have you not improved, but you've been telling ME lies. My...my own daughter, lying to me. And that's not even counting what happened back there with Sonic. That's....that's...."

It was clear that she was becoming a bit to stressed, so Sonic put his hands on her shoulders. Amy realised what he was trying to say.

"OK then," she muttered, stepping aside to take a breather. Sonic then approached Michelle.

"Young lady," he said (he rarely ever used that term before, usually only when Michelle was naughty), "Amy and I are not cross with you, but we are rather disapointed. We will say no more for now. But, after we've had dinner, you will get ready for bed. I will have a.....a word with you about running off without me and not telling us where you are going, then Amy will have another word with you about your poor grades and your lying. Then, after that, you're to go straight to bed. Is that clear?"

Michelle listened as Amy became more and more upset with her and quickly braced herself, however Sonic stepped in and for a moment she thought he was coming to her dense. Until he said 'Young Lady' he never called her that unless she was in big trouble, she gulped and crossed her hands behind her back as he spoke. Once he was finished and asked her it she understood she looked and nodded her head "Y....Yes Sir" she then picked up her backpack and took her test and went into her room to put it away and wash up for dinner.

Sonic watched as Michelle headed to her room and shook his head. He then turned to Amy.

"Are you OK?" he asked.

"I'm fine, thank you," said Amy, smiling, "I appriciate you stepping in for me like that, Sonic."

"Well, we'll need to find a way to control that temper of yours. Can't have you blowing off on Michelle now, can we?"

"Yeah, I guess you're right."
