One Soul, Two Competitors (For Avian)

The Angels and Demons had been fighting for quite a while. A giant feud between their “Masters” caused this. Because of this none of them ever tried working together. However, since the beginning of time, it was the Angels and Demons’ duty to take the souls of any human that had died. Both did their best to get a hold of the soul while it sat in limbo lonely. Eventually, one of the two won and gained the soul.

Alexander had been a pure soul for a long time. His hair, unlike most Angels, was black and short. His eyes were a bright blue, very strange with the hair, but that’s how he had been created. Although he was an Angel, Alexander could be quite hardheaded and had a slight problem with authority. This got him into a lot of trouble. However, he did know how to do his job.

The boy lay on a cloud, awakening from an obnoxious beeping noise. It had come from the device on his wrist. It seemed that someone died. The Angel sat up, stretching. “Hm…A girl.” He said numbly, slipping out of the cloud. He began falling, but the boy seemed uninterested. Alexander always landed on his feet. Landing in an alleyway, he peered around. The girl had to be somewhere around. A lifeless body was laying on the ground, seemed the spirit hadn’t gone far either.

Ellona sensed it. Slowly rising, the demon awoke from it's sleep. "A poor little girl this time," she muttered, in a beautiful voice. She had the body of a sixteen year old female, though she was much older. She thought of this as crime finally paying. She wore black denim jeans, and a white t-shirt. Her hair was lavishly long and black. A spike wrist band bore on her left arm, and her face made her seem hopeless. Her eyes were gray, but she was not blind, it was a mere trick she liked to play to kill unsuspecting people. Her eyebrows were normal. Not much hair and no unibrow.

"Last time I lost a soul was never," she spat to the ground, though she stood in ablaze. It was a region of hell after all. She could feel it though, even as she ran to the entrance of earth, someone else was beating her. The only way I am going to beat them to her is by taking them down, she thought to herself. She stopped and focused her energy, she planned to meet the person. Head growing faint, and sat cross-legged.

When she opened her eyes she was in a corner, in the darkest end of an alley. A bright aura's energy glowed, and she gasped. The person was closer than she thought, and she mentally slapper herself. Be brave, you can take him..

She stood, and ran towards the boy, ready to strike.

Alexander searched for the soul. “Where in Heaven’s name is she?” he questioned, though he knew he was only speaking to himself. Closing his eyes, he focused his energy to find the missing child. He hated children. Their spirits never really listened, not to mention they just ran off without thinking ‘Maybe I should wait for someone.” Rubbing his temples, his concentration broke. “Son of a-“ he paused. Something had disturbed him, but it wasn’t a human soul. Oh no, this was a very different kind of energy. Despite this, he recognized it. It was those damned demons. A low growl escaped his lips. Did they really have to come at a time like this? Couldn’t the damn demon be late or something?

Turning, he prepared himself for battle. Of course, he hadn’t been expecting a girl. Blinking, he moved back a bit, knowing the other would strike. There was a small problem with this; Alexander was not one to enjoy fighting girls, especially those who were demon. They always seemed to play dirty. On top of that, girls just couldn’t fight. He didn’t want to hurt her and seem like the bad guy. So, all he could do was dodge, at least, until he finally got the courage to actually strike.

“Look I don’t have time for this-“ He began, not looking forward to the fighting process. “What do you say you just let me have the girl and I’ll be on my way? I was here first after all.” He tried to reason. His hands were up in defense, ready to attack if the girl actually got close enough to him.

"Being nice didn't get me to hell you idiot," Ellona spat, growing cold again, stopping in her tracks. But fair is fair.. you won't fight me.. so I'll just take you out, take the girl, and come back later to finish you," she concluded more so to herself than to the boy. "Now be a good angel and stay still so I can do THIS!" she said, hissing the last word and knocking a punch in his chest. She must have been dreaming though, because she stopped her fist, less than a centimeter from his chest. "Did you.." she muttered, and stopped, breathless. He did nothing.

"I punched you," she said, shoving him out of the way and running off. "AND I'M FINDING HER FIRST!" To wrap it up, Ellona just witnessed herself fail an attack on someone, and run past without even a threat. She stopped short though, a small crowd was gather. She knew that must be a clue where the body was at, and she ran towards it, only to discover the cheering, and little kids and their parents playing hop-scotch.

She ran back again. "I'm losing it," she muttered, and stopped, taking deep breaths, and calmed herself down. "Now find the body.. or I'll kill you... uh... can I even die again?" she asked herself, walking away from the thought, and finding herself walking towards the alley again.

The Angel listened to what the other had to say. He had to admit it kind of made sense. He braced himself, ready for the hit, but it never struck. His chest never came into contact with the girl’s fist, or vice versa for that matter. When she spoke again the male was about to respond that he had done nothing, but it seemed she had other plans. Alexander watched silently as the woman ran off, pushing him out of the way.

“The body’s over he…” he trailed off, the Demon running away. With a shrug, he went back to looking for the girl. What a strange demon that had been. Never before had he met a demon who reacted like that, or stopped before hitting him. And somehow he always seemed to get hit before retaliating. That was just the way he was. Call it a weakness if you will. His thoughts kept wandering back to the girl. “She was strange.” He suddenly said out loud. Shaking his head, the Angel searched for the child.

A dim light was coming from a corner in the alleyway. There sat the small soul, ready to be taken away. It seemed she was realizing that there was nowhere to go. She couldn’t stay on earth and if she did she would have to be by her body twenty-four-seven. It would really just be inconvenient for her. The Angel slowly approached her, using caution as to not scare her away. He glanced behind, checking to see if the demon had left, a smirk rising to his lips. Seemed he had won again. Though out the corner of his eye he spotted the Demon approaching.

"Strange am I? Huh punk?" Ellona yelled, running towards him, this time, sure to hit, and once again, she missed. "Why in the actual fuck DO YOU OF ALL PEOPLE dodge it!?" she stammered, shaking, before noticing the prize that lay next to them. "That soul is mine," she said through gritted teeth, realizing how everything was falling, and she threw her fist in his chest, and knocked him an inch or so. "That's one hit.. let's...try...ANOTHER!' and she aimed a kick to his kneecap, though fate would have it that she wouldn't exactly hurt him if it did.

Her leg was caught in the air, as if something was telling her not to hit him though. Bah, she didn't care. She wanted the soul, and sent her kick for his kneecap.

He was so close. The little girl was just a few inches away; he could grab her and run. But, as luck would have it, he didn’t. Instead he was attacked by the demon girl once again. “You don’t give up to you?” he questioned before standing in front of the child. His reflexes hadn’t kicked in quite as soon as he had hoped, and the girl caught him by surprise. He stumbled a few inches back. “Listen. I really don’t feel like doing this...Besides, the girl’s mine. I found her first. Now that he was facing her he was able to block her leg with his hand. Gripping onto her leg, he hoped the other would listen to reason.

“Look. You can have the next one.” He told the Demon, though he knew he was lying through his teeth. He just wanted to protect the child, which would be why he would fight. Not to protect himself, but the child. “You should be more careful. It’s hard to balance on one foot.” He kept his grip a little loose, making it easy for the girl to escape if she decided to retreat.

"Don't tip the enemy," she said, throwing a punch at his face. "But to return the favor I guess I should say, don't tilt your head closer. ANd please, just leave. I've never failed before and never will.." and she thought for a moment, before adding, "if I do.. h-he tortures me." She was going to pull it off. Keep up a fake sob story and this dumbass would be GIVING her the soul! The only problem, her eyes couldn't cry. Mainly due to the fact she spent her time burning in fire and there was no tears to cry. "P-please, before he makes me use force. He can see us now." She mentally facepalmed. He can see us now? No shit, now she wasn't fooling anyone. A new, pleading look on her face, but it was to fool him as she thought. How to steal.. oh how to steal...the soul just waited for her to steal it!

She kept up the look, and eventually, slowly drooped her bottom lip for effect.

It seemed the girl was being reluctant to give up the fight. He inhaled deeply, his reflexes not working as quickly as he wanted again. His head swung a little. He was actually about to retort, when he heard what the girl said. The Angel blinked in amazement. He couldn’t believe a word that was entering his ears. Maybe he was sleeping. Then again, the boy never did sleep. There had never been any need for it. He enjoyed taking naps, but sleeping wasn’t really a necessity. Needless to say, he was getting sucked in. His hand released the girl’s leg, sympathy overflowing the male’s features. He was amazed he could actually feel something as this. “Oh, I’m sorry.” He replied, standing beside the girl and tapping her back with his hand. “I can protect you!” Oh, how brilliant he was! Like a knight in shining armor.

Although Alexander wanted to help the girl, he also kept his guard up. It nearly fell when he saw the girl’s face, but he managed to keep some of it up. “Why don’t I take the child and then I can talk to my Master and have him protect you?”

With that sentence, her gaze broke. "Y-yes.. but first I have items to gather.. my precious gems," she muttered. "Meet me back here in an hour's time... I want to be safe. With that, she fled the alley, and portal-ed herself back home. "Of fucking course I'll take this chance... but master will be very angry with my plan," she gulped, as she thought how she would bring up the subject. She thought of the perfect idea, go straightforward with stealing the souls! As many as she could, and then, his master plan would unfold! Yes, that was it!

"Why is it you have come, Ellona?" sneered her master. "I have no time for ingrate questions."

"But sir, this is important."

"Get on with it Ellona..." he said cooly.

"I'm going to join the banks of the angels and-" "WHAT NONSENSE IS THIS!?" he roared, standing up. "IN HELL WE SPEAK NOT OF ANGELS!! YOUR FAILURE TO RETRIEVE THE SOUL IS ENOUGH STUPIDITY FOR ONE DAY! GET OUT OF MY SIGHT!"

Ellona was about to cry... though she couldn't. "I'M GOING TO GO AND STEAL ALL THE SOULS I CAN AFTER INFILTRATING!" she screamed.

Her master blinked. "Ellona.. go.. fufill that plan!"

Ellona nodded and ran out, to her room, grabbing her white bead necklace and returned to the alley.
