I was wondering the same thing. I thought that's where this was headed, but really can't see why.

Spare me, Rob. All the oddball pictures and RPs people have on this site, and this is the one you single out?
Buffy isn't even remotely the strangest source material to inspire spanking discussion.

I dislike it because of the self destructive nature of it.
People are blind to the utter, utter irony that by spanking/disciplining/trying to make behave the characters of the show (Which the chauvanists have focused on the females for, it seems) YOU'D TOTALLY DESTROY THE WHOLE GROUP DYNAMIC!!
I can't believe people don't see that.
The 'RP' is so out of character I don't even consider it for a heartbeat, it's not the problem at all~
Anyone who knows me, knows that blatent chauvanism, and retarded sexism drives me up the wall, round the bend AND the round twist at the same time.
It's a girl-power series for crying out loud, it's no coincidence that all the men in that show are subby and just about all the girls are either toppish or outright doms. Everything thats been described on this thread as 'deserved' or 'needed' would utterly, utterly wreck the whole show and the casts balance and I can't believe some of the posters here are so blind they can't see that.
No, wait, I can believe it v__v

Damn Rob, don't hold it in, say what you feel!
First, there is no chauvinism or sexism intended on my part, I can't speak for the others. I am merely focusing on the female characters because I am (at least predominately) heterosexual and I would more enjoy seeing them spanked then the men. All of the men on the show could have used it at one time or another, but since I wouldn't enjoy seeing it as much, I left that part alone. i thought I had made that clear. if you REALLY want me to, I can try to I'm sure I can come up with reasons for the guys to be spanked.
Sexond, I was under the impression that the whole purpose behind this thread was FANTASIZING about the characters being spanked, not actually wanting to see it happen on the show. So, even if it would wreck the whole group dynamic, since it would never actually happen, what's the problem with discussing it in a "What If..." sort of way? Wspecially when most of the characters do exhibit spankable bahavior?
Finally, let us not forget that a lot of men who visit a dominatrix are powerful men who are used to being in control most of the time. So who is to say that a woman like Buffy, who is used to being in control all of the time, wouldn't want, or even need, to be the submissive one in her private life?

Oh, you gave canonical reasons, permit me, I missed them ^^
As for Buffy possibly being a submissive one in a relationship?
Naah, not exactly.
She's a train wreck emotionally (understandably) as is attracted in an almost animalistic, emo, desperate way to the worst people for her. Angel, Spike et al have all been self-destructive relationships of self-abuse. Thats why both the fans (and the writer, Joss Whedon who never wanted him) rejected captain cardboard Riley completely. He never worked, her character had to alter too much just to accomodate him. Buffy never goes for the stronger, dominant type. She goes for people she can constantly be at war with mentally. Remember she got cramps everytime she went near Angel or Spike which sums up their relationships completely. If she met someone who was stronger than her, she'd probably tear him in half~ I mean, thats the whole point of the series, as all the previous slayers who've died will testify. The only way a slayer dies is when they allow themselves to give in. Buffy died twice when she gave up. Once because she didn't believe she would win, and the other time was a self-sacrifice. Kendra was beaten by Drusilla's power. Both Xin and Nikki died after they too surrended to Spike. Submission is against the Slayers way, probably why buffy is so rebelious at all times~
As for the subs of the series... ALL OF THEM?
Xander is willows bitch, he was right from the start, I mean... hey, he's been totally effeminised by her. Utter subby.
Willow... she's Xanders top, she kinda switched when the writers made her gay, no worries~
Faith: Ultra Dom with daddy issues. She was a hairs-breath from killing the mayor a dozen times, all that power simmering on the surface~
Cordelia: Maaaaah! She's just an alpha-female. SHE gave the spankings. All the men need to worpship her - and she's even got that subby angel wrapped around her finger too!
Harmony: (She's the vampire one, right?) She's a sub, yup. She probably got spanked by Cordelia loads of times and then she went to spike who hated her because hes a subbie too and wasn't able to give her the violent negative energy she feeds off.
As I say, it's a girl-power series. Just about all the combo's that some people have come up with are lame and totally out-of-character, past the point of making them OCs. You can fantasize about taking all those strong, dom women and proving your manhood by swatting them - but I'll facepalm all the same.

Thank you for ruining what should have been a fun thread for me by taking it all too seriously. I appreciate it. It's perfactly fine with me if you feel that none of the women in this series deserve or would put up with a spanking, and you have every right to state your opinion, but you come across as very derisive to those of us who have a differing opinion, which I have seen you do in discussions before. Even if I don't agree with you, I have listened and tried to see the point you were trying to make, but i do not feel I have been given the same courtesy. Sorry if I am being a jerk here, but that's how I feel.
And I resent the implication that I am trying to "prove my manhood" by thinking about spanking these women. it has nothing to do with my manhood, it has everything to do with the fact that these are very beautiful women and I enjoy spanking, so it eseems natural to me to at least fantasize about seeing them spanked. And personally, for me a spanking is more fun with at least the pretense of a reason behind it. So sorry if doing that with these strong and sainted women offends your delicatte sensibilities.

Most fanfiction involving spanking is pretty OOC. It's not so much about getting the characters right as it is about being turned on.
I stand by my statement that Spike needs a spanking.

The way I originally phrased this had no gender bias whatsoever, so IF any charges of chauvanism were leveled against me they're laughable. As for affecting the interpersonal dynamics of the characters, so does pretty much anything else here. Although if I were so inclined, I could try an in-character examination of the rather adventerous love-life of Xander and Anya pulled directly from the series. I still fail to see why this thread provoked such a response.

Damn rob, is pissing in peoples fruit loops a hobby of yours now? Since you focus on /F yourself (and heaven forbid a reference to /you), what is the difficulty other than that you like the series deep down in your grubby little heart? Seriously, this is a discussion board for people to have fun on. Killing the fun so you can wank off at how cool and smart you are is a wee bit counterproductive.
And for the record, I am commenting because you, specifically, were brought to my attention as a thread/fun killer by a site member.
