It's impressive.
I use my own artwork (3d generated) in my games, but it's really good for a first version. I do have a couple of notes for you though.
1. The Eyes and Mouths selection displays could be a bit clearer so its easier to get an idea of the options without clicking thru them all.
2. I don't know if you've seen the RPG Maker Extended Generator or not (
http://schlangan.free.fr/SFE/RPG_Mak..._Generator.zip) but one of its features is it shows the character data in a window on one side and it is a place where you can keep track of what you've created, remove certain features, or make some edits to it. Essentially, it's also a "history" of sorts of what you've added.
Your interface and how the images are built is very similar to the way the extended generator does it. I think if you were to try and duplicate that feature it would really add something to the app.
