Spankings of Symphonia (For Arkmada)

Lloyd was walking back from school, sighing dismally, since he had to stay after again. As he walked through the woods, he eventually saw the path that led to the Human Ranch. He glanced down it as he passed, and then froze, and went back to look again. He thought he had seen a familiar figure, and wanted to make sure. He had been right...a figure was heading to the ranch.He easily recognized the long blonde hair, and white dress.

"(What is she doing?)" he wondered, going after her.

"Oh, darn it..." Collette whispered with a furrowed brow, picking herself up off the ground. She had tripped over...well, nothing. As was fairly normal of her. She brushed some grass off the fringe of her dress and kneeled down, peering through the bushes at the tall, wired fence of the human ranch. There were a few humans being forced to carry heavy barrels, and Collette saw one of the Desians brandishing a whip. She grit her teeth, looking around. Maybe there was a better angle...? She was so focused on observing that she didn't noticed a friend strolling up behind her...

Lloyd followed her, and eventually saw her staring at the ranch, through bushes. Not wanting to risk her screaming, and alerting the desians, he went up behind her, clamped a hand over her mouth, and pulled her away from the ranch.

"Mmph! Wha-?" Collette murmered, her voice muffled as she was dragged back to the main path. Her heart pounded against her chest and she struggled at first, but then recognized the crimson sleeves of the man pulling her to safety. Her panic then switched over to confusion. After they were out of earshot of the desians, she gently took hold of Lloyds hand and freed her mouth, turning around to face him with a perplexed look. "Lloyd? What are you doing?" she asked gently, not upset, merely confused.

Lloyd gave her a stern look.

"I should be asking you that!" he said, sternly, "What were you thinking?! The non-aggression treaty we have with the desians, says that villagers can't go to the ranch! That includes you! Do you think that the law doesn't apply to you, since you're the Chosen?"

[Arkmada]

Collete was startled and raised her hands to her chin in a sheepish manner as she was scolded. After an awkward silence she fidgetted and looked down at her white shoes. "I um...I don't think they don't apply to me. I mean, I just w-wanted to get a look. If I'm the chosen..." she paused looking up at her friend, blushing a bit. "I should find a way to help people in situations like this. I wasn't gonna do anything right away, really," she clarified with a nervous smile. "So...you don't have to worry, okay Lloyd?"

"Collette" he said, "The only way to help those people, is to go on your journey, after the day of prophecy happens. Of course, that stunt you just pulled, might've made that day never happen! What do you think would've happened, if it had been the desians who caught you, instead of me?"

[Arkmada]

Colette cocked her head in a confused manner, but also felt a slight tinge of guilt. "I um...I mean I suppose," she admitted, a bit embarrassed. "It's just...Lloyd, if I can't end suffering right in front of me, how can I be a real Chosen?" she asked with a frustrated look, getting a bit stubborn.

"You are the chosen, Colette" he said, "And once the day of prophecy happens, you can save those people. Now promise me, you won't do this again."

[Arkmada]

Colette gulped a bit and closed her eyes. "Lloyd...I'm sorry. You're my friend, but I have to be honest. I won't make any promises. I really want to find a way to save them someday soon," she said sincerely.
