Hatya nodded wordlessly. Her stomach was in knots, but she knew that there was no way of getting out of this. She only prayed that she could get through it with less pain than she feared and that it would end quickly.
Silmani's eyes frowned. "Chiharu, surely you don't actually expect to walk away from what you did with no consequences? For if you do, you are being absurd." She was very blunt about this, though she had been gentle before. Had Chiharu done what he had in her home village, he might have been imprisoned, perhaps even put to death had he been older. They were fortunate that they were not in a village or town and that the men had been kind.

"N-No.. I guess not.." Chiharu whimpered as he waited for Silmani to continue with the punishment, expecting her to tell him to do some tiresome chore or something like that.
Lucy let out a little sigh. "Okay, we'll let Silmani deal with Chiharu here while we head a bit away from camp. Come on, follow me." she said before leading Hatya over to behind a hill, away from where anyone could see them, but still hear them, at least if they were noisy enough.

Silmani took a breath and uttered a little prayer to the Maker inwardly, but outwardly, she remained calm. "Good. Go and bring me a stick as thick as my pointer finger. I want one that is smooth, so if you must peel off the bark, do so. And bring me my canteen with water in it."
Hatya trailed after Lucy, fingers crossed tightly.

Chiharu wasn't quite sure what she wanted with it, but was starting to have his suspicions. Did she really intend on giving him a spanking? He gave a quick few nods and quickly went and found a stick the same thickness as his own finger and removed the bark from with speed, before going to fill a canteen with water. Within just a few minutes, the silver haired boy had returned and handed her both.
Lucy stood up and took her leather belt off, putting it to the side, before taking her knife out and handing it Hatya. "Okay, go cut a switch, you know how they're supposed to be." she said sternly.

Hatya winced at the sight of the belt in addition to the switch she was commanded to cut. It seemed this would be even MORE painful than she'd imagined it would be. She plodded off, returning soon with a green, flexible switch, well trimmed.
Silmani accepted the items Chiharu had brought her. She had something for him, too. It was the badge the man had given him. She had stuck it into the fire for a moment, and the bright green stone was now coal black.
"You will wear this for a year to remind you of what you did today. Pin it to the collar of your shirt."

"O-Okay.." Chiharu said sheepishly as he pinned the badge to the collar of his shirt, before looking up at Silmani nervously again, unsure as to what would happen next.
Lucy let out a sigh. "Okay, now before we start, I want to ask you something. Why didn't you wake us up after the caravan had caught fire or told someone? Why would you pretend to be asleep?" Lucy asked, but had an idea.
It was probably Chiharu who had told her to keep quiet about it all.

Hatya fiddled with her hair. She didn't want to blame Chiharu, but he was in trouble already, and she did not want to lie anymore.
"Chiharu thought we could keep it a secret. . . It was my fault that all of this happened. I didn't want him to hate me."
Silmani sat down. "Take your breeches off, Chiharu," she said gently.

Chiharu whimpered but did as he was told and slid his pants down to his ankles, leaving him standing there in nothing but his boxers. He knew all too well what would happen, and definitely didn't want Silmani doing it. He hadn't even imagined her ever going as far as to spank him, in fact, he thought she'd be the type who didn't want to inflict pain on anyone. He was certainly wrong about that.
Lucy let out a sigh as she figured as much. "Okay, fair enough. Now go on, you know the drill."

Silmani did not want to inflict pain on anyone, especially not the boy she called her little brother, but she saw no alternative. Besides, knowing Lucy, she knew that Hatya was being punished similarly, and being more lenient with Chiharu would be unfair. Without a word, she patted her knee.
Hatya, flame-cheeked, bared her bottom . She then came to stand at Lucy's side.

Chiharu felt like a kid again, and wanted to run away, but knew he couldn't. He sheepishly made his way over to Silmani and bent over her lap, resulting in his butt being raised up, only covered by his boxers. "P-Please Silmani.. I-I'm sorry.." he whimpered.
Lucy patted her lap a few times. "Come on, bend over."
