Hearing the words that Roy had to say caused Crevan to of course once again feel as though he messed everything else and at that point he turned to walk in the opposite direction. "Let's just go," he said quietly, debating really heavily about just running off at this point. It seemed to him that Roy had gone from really affectionate to really cold in record time, not that he was really surprised since in his experience everyone hid behind some kind of mask that hid their true selves.

Roy groaned when the kid just about gave up, and he grabbed him off the floor, carrying him to a restroom and setting him down in a stall. He stepped inside and locked the door, leaning his back against it so that the kid couldn't run off before they got a chance to sort this whole thing out. "Okay, why are you so obsessed with making me out to be an ass? I'm doing my best for you Crevan, and you just seem to think it's all fake, what do I have to do to prove to you that I love you and I don't want to make you miserable?"

Crevan was startled when he was suddenly grabbed and he was expecting to be struck at that point so he was even more surprised when he ended up in a bathroom. The kid looked at Roy when he asked his question and that one was just as confusing to Crevan as the situation itself. "At what point did I call you an ass? At what point did I accuse you of anything? I never once said that you were being unfair or that you were out to make me miserable, all that I said was that it was not fair that you were telling me what I could and couldn't say abut myself and that I'd be in trouble if I kept it up. That's ALL I said," Crevan sort of ranted since he had no idea what Roy's current problem was but he hadn't said any of those things that he'd just been accused of.

Roy sighed, "I never said you called me an ass, but it's like you jump on my every word, thinking I'm just out to make you miserable. I don't want you saying things like that about yourself because it breaks my heart to hear it, I love you and that's never going to change." he explained and knelt down, putting a hand on the boy's shoulder. "I could just as easily spank you for saying stuff like that, but that's not something I'm going to do. I'm trying to cut you some slack, son."

"I'm sorry I snapped at you before, I keep forgetting you've had a bad past, but kiddo, I'm not trying to be mean, I promise you I'm not. I just want you to see yourself the way that I see you. You're so smart, kind, considerate, helpful, obedient...I could go on and on, believe me." he chuckled a bit sadly.

"You're my boy, Crevan. I just want you to be happy, and love yourself."

Crevan actually got tears in his eyes as he listened to the words that Roy was saying to him, the kid annoyed by that since he hated to cry more than anything else, it was a sign of weakness that he had tried so hard to break himself from. He had actually managed to force himself to cry silently so that he made no noise, but he had not as of yet figured out how to keep the tears from coming.

"You can't force someone to see themselves a certain way...it's just not something you can do," the kid said quietly, sitting down on the closed toilet seat and pulling his knees up to his chest. He felt pretty miserable in this moment and just wished that he'd kept his thoughts to himself sine that was what had started all of this in the first place.

"I'm not trying to force you son, I'm trying to help you." Roy answered, kneeling down and wiping away the tears from his eyes. "You're more amazing than you think, it'll take some time for you to realize it, but I'll be right there with you, helping you along." he added and wasn't sure if it was best to leave the preteen alone right now...since he seemed pretty upset.

"I'll be outside, and give you some time to yourself." he said sadly, running his hand through the chestnut hair affectionately and then unlocking the stall door, and stepping out.

Crevan didn't really know what to make of any of this, he was just as emotionally stunted as he was physically so all of this was hard for him. It wasn't really made any easier by the fact that Roy seemed so upset and Crevan couldn't help but think that it would have been better if he'd just been left in juvie. Maybe not better for him but definitely better for Roy.

He watched as the man stepped out of the stall, the kid remaining where he was after that and feeling a few more tears slide down his cheeks.

Roy wasn't sure what to do, he needed to remember that it was going to be a while longer yet before he could trust him...and that was a bit painful but it wasn't the boy's fault. He felt some tears fill his eyes, wishing he could just make everything better...but he just seemed to make things worse. After a few minutes, Roy tapped on the door gently, finding it hard to find words for a second.

"C-Crev...kiddo, is everything alright?" he asked softly.

Reaching up with a hand Crevan wiped the tears from his face with the sleeve of his shirt. That was one advantage to always wearing long sleeves though it wasn't the reason that Crevan did that, it was to hide the scar on his arm but it served a dual purpose in this instance. Hearing Roy's words the kid got to his feet and made his way out of the stall, Crevan nodding slightly in response. "Yea, 'm fine," he said, his voice quieter even than usual for him.

When Crevan came out, Roy wrapped his arms around him and kissed his head, "It's gonna be okay buddy, I'm sorry." he whispered and rubbed his back gently. "I love you pal, don't ever, ever forget that." he said gently, cradling him to his chest. "Come on, let's see the rest of the garden's yeah?"
