Alex was rather shocked when he didn't immediately take his words back, since that was usually what happened when someone pointed out that what they were saying was treason. Icaret didn't though and that shocked her but she was trying not to be too distressed about it, "Milord you cant seriously be implying that you would start a...coup, if His Majesty tries to punish me for this?" She asked, not understanding why he was thinking that her cause was important enough to risk that but she wasn't sure she liked having someone willing to risk their lives and the lives of their families on her and on getting women acknowledged as fighters in the country.

"That will be up to his majesty." Icaret said "If he sees sense and agrees to a reasonable consequence then so be it but I will not allow you to be scarred for life, killed or thrown in prison for doing something that isn't even against the law as written."

Alex nodded when he elaborated, sort of hoping htat it wouldn't come to her master having to fight for her but she would just have to wait and see. "What counts as a reasonable consequence?" She asked then, still wanting to now what she was likely going to be facing when she revealed herself to the king and court.

"I wouldn't step in if he suggested you be birched, it would hurt fiercely but it won't scar or kill you." Icaret said "If fact I may suggest it."

Alex grimaced at the prospect of being birched, especially if it was public as such things frequently were when someone did something like what she was currently doing, but she was momentarily distracted from that thought when Icaret said he would suggest it. "What?! Why would you do that?" She asked, sounding slightly betrayed and the implied 'to me' at the end of the sentence was clear in her tone even if she didnt' say it.

"Because it is a legitimate punishment and harsh enough that anyone who isn't being completely unreasonable would be satisfied by it." Icaret said "Birching is the penalty for making a false statement in the lords court and is somewhat applicable."

After hearing what he had to say Alex had to bite back a sarcastic comment about how she'd rather not be punished at all so he should keep his mouth shut, but she managed to keep that thought to herself and after considering it for a few moments she realized that he made a valid point. "I suppose" She agreed, sort of in a depressed mood now but after a little time she decided she wasn't going to let herself get upset by it since it was far in the future so there was no point in being upset now. She just turned her attention back to her food and waited for him to start her next lesson when they were done.

"Obviously it would be better not to be punished at all but I do not hold out much hope of that." Icaret said "Which you had to know when this began."

Alex nodded when he spoke to her, getting a sort of unhappy expression on her face since she did know what she was facing when she revealed herself she was just hoping that the king would have a high enough regard for her when that time came that he wouldn't punish her. "I didn't at first but once I got old enough to understand my father explained it to me and gave me the option to quit if I wanted to." She answered, thinking that she might be wishing she'd taken that out later but right now she didn't she was glad that she was doing this even if it was hard and painful journey for her.

"You might still fail to be totally successful but there will be some people who will take notice of your achievements." Icaret said "Many changes start with just one person."
