Frank figured that he couldn`t study all the time and when one of his tennis friends asked him if he wanted to take a swin in the lake he accepted. It wasn`t long until he had put his books away and was on his way downstairs to go out.

Mariah heard steps and soon she saw Frank who obviously was going to go somewhere.
"Frank?" she called. "I thought your four study hours are not finished yet."

" It`s just one hour left, mom. I`ll do it later. I`m gonna go swimming now." Frank said as he was on his way out to the hallway. " I`ll see you when I get back. I don`t want to let my friends wait." he added.

Mariah sighed. She was worried that she couldn't watch him as she promised. But he worked so hard all that time…
"All right" she said finally. "But one hour only. And you will finish today's four hours."

" Yeah, yeah. I will...relax." Frank said as he walked out of the door. He had a great time with his friend, but he completely forgot the time. He came home three hours later. " Ok. I`m back." he said as he stepped into the hallway again.

Mariah waited for Frank. When he didn't return in a promised time she was worried at first. Then she put a hairbrush on the coffee table and patiently waited for him finally to come back home.
"Frank, wait for a minute" she asked. "Do you remember when you promised to return?"

" Uhm...no. It doesn`t matter, anyway. I`m here now, aren`t I?" Frank said as he walked towards the sink to get himself a glass of water. " Ok, I`m going up to study now." he said as he turned around and started to walk towards the staircase.

"We are not done yet" Mariah said sternly. "It does matter, Frank. If you allow yourself to break such small promise, how you going to keep the big one? Especially as big as you have gave to your girlfriend? You remember I made a promise too. I am going to keep mine. Maybe you'll take the pattern."

" Oh, come on, mom...I`m not a god damn child anymore." Frank said as he could clearly get what she was hinting to. " I`ll keep the promise to her, it`s not big deal that I had some with my friend. Calm down." he said and gave her a slight glare.
