Dean wrapped his arms around Cas when he pulled him into a loving hug, and told him that they wouldn't do that to him, he was their child too and they were going to pay he and Sam equal attention. The boy was happy to hear that, since he had always been more of a babysitter for Sam than a child of John Winchester. "I'm psyched about that." he answered and nodded eagerly when asked if he wanted to help make dinner. "Okay!"
Crowley chuckled, "Make me something nice, boys." he called over but then Sam took his hand and tugged, telling him to come too. "Oh if I must." he snorted, getting to his feet and following along behind the little bundle of energy. "Burgers? Well I don't see why not, just don't touch the stove Samuel---that goes for you too, Dean."
"I wont touch it." Dean answered and then his face fell when Castiel mentioned vegetables. "But I don't want to eat vegetables..." he said with a small pout. "Can I just have onions?---to put on my burger?"

Cas nodded firmly, ignoring the pout on the older boy’s face. “No Dean, you can’t just eat onions. We’re going to make a salad, and you have to eat a little bit of that too.” He said, voice booking no argument. “You can even put a little dressing on it, but you will be eating it.” Cas entered the kitchen, before beginning to pull out everything they needed to make burgers as well as the salad. “Sammy, Dean, would you help make the salad?” He asked, since it would keep the boys busy at least.
“Sure Mommy!” Sam responded happily, and Cas settled Sam on the countertop so the little boy could open the bag of lettuce. Dean was tall enough to easily reach the counter. Sam being so short was something that would take getting used to. “You don’t like salad Dean?” The younger brother asked, tugging on the lettuce and pouring it out into a bowl to be washed.
Cas handed the boys some carrot slices to throw in, as well as some little cherry tomatoes. He wasn’t letting Dean get out of eating his salad this time around, and now he had Crowley as backup in case his older child wanted to fuss about it.

Dean scowled, he HATED vegetables, and he HATED salad. Salad wasn't food---not proper food! He rolled his eyes and wandered over to Sam, who seemed super excited about having lettuce and cherry tomatoes and stupid carrots. "No. Salad's stupid--it's not even food!" he grumbled only loud enough for Sam to hear him. The only thing he liked were onions and potato, because they tasted good!
Crowley watched the boys for a good few moments, and then he helped Castiel in pounding the beef, adding little pieces of onion and carrot to it to give it some crunch and flavour. "Would either of you like cheese?" the Demon asked, noticing Dean wasn't helping Sam with the salad, and stood there with a face like a smacked backside. "Dean? Not going to help your brother?"
"No." Dean huffed.
"Why?" Crowley asked, shaking his head.
"Because if I don't make it, then I don't have to eat it. Salad is so damn stupid!"
"WATCH your mouth, boy. And that's not how it works." Crowley scolded, his eyes narrowing some. "You WILL be eating your salad, and you WILL be helping your brother to make it."
"Will I?" Dean challenged, crossing his arms. "How about I just order a damn pizza and you guys can have your stupid rabbit food?"

Cas’ brow shot up when Dean scowled, but he didn’t comment just yet. He was focused on making sure the stove wasn’t too hot. Sam tilted his head at Dean’s commentary, shrugging. “Salad’s good Dean…it tastes all fresh and everything.” He commented, even though he doubted his big brother was going to listen to him about vegetables. Dean never even ate them when they were growing up the first time. Maybe that was why he was so short.
“I want cheese, Daddy.” Sam chirped, before looking nervously to Dean. His big brother’s mouth was going to get him in trouble again.
Castiel turned around when Dean actually decided to challenge his brand new father on the topic of salad, washing his hands off and drying them. “Could you finish off the burgers? I’ll have a talk with Dean.” The angel said, before stepping forward and taking ahold of Dean’s wrist. “Come along, I think you and I need to have a talk.” Cas basically pulled Dean along into the living room, standing his older child in front of him.
“Dean, you know better than to talk like that to your father.” He scolded, placing a hand on the teenager’s shoulder. “You won’t be ordering a pizza, because you’re not allowed to. Simple as that.”
With that point made, Cas raised a brow. “Now, are you going to behave or do we need to have a sterner conversation?” He asked firmly. He didn’t want to have to spank Dean again so soon, but he would if he had to.

"Alright, you can have cheese, here, grate some." Crowley answered, handing Sam the large cheese grater Cas owned. It baffled the Demon that the Angel had so many useful utensils around, couldn't he just use his grace to whip up some food? He was sure Castiel had his reasons for not using his grace all willy nilly though, so he didn't think too much on it. "Be careful now, the grater can be a little sharp." he warned his son.
Dean groaned when Cas said they were going to have a talk. He didn't want a talk, and he didn't want stupid salad either. He followed along when he was pulled, and crossed his arms over his chest, scowling at the ground when Castiel scolded him. It was so unfair. They all liked salad and he didn't, of course they wouldn't care about what he liked! Sam loved salad, so clearly they were just doing whatever was good for Sam.
"Fine--then I just wont eat dinner at all." Dean huffed, though he didn't throw a tantrum, he just calmly walked out of the room and upstairs to his bedroom, and he didn't slam the door either. He shut it and then sat down on his bed. "I KNEW they would favour Sam. I fucking knew it." he mumbled.
"So---how did the talk go?" Crowley asked, raising a brow when Cas came back into the kitchen without Dean. He could see that it hadn't gone well at all.

“I can do it Daddy.” Sam said immediately, taking the grater from his father and carefully starting to grate the cheese onto a plate. “Is Dean going to be okay?” He asked after a moment, glancing toward the living room where the other two members of their family had disappeared. “Dean always seems upset, Daddy…I don’t remember him being like this before” Sam said quietly, his hands coming to a standstill as he mused to himself.
Although, truth be told, Dean had probably pushed down any negative emotions so that Sam wouldn’t be affected. Perhaps Dean finally got to express himself, and this was more of an outlet.
Cas sighed softly, shaking his head when Crowley asked about how the talk had gone. “I’m going upstairs to speak with him again momentarily. I just wanted to let you know it was going to be a moment.” He explained, pressing a light kiss to the demon’s cheek before heading up the stairs. Cas knocked on Dean’s bedroom door before pushing inside. “Dean, I think we need to talk.” He said gently, and for the moment Cas didn’t mean the ‘spanking’ kind of talk.
“You know we’re not trying to make you eat salad to hurt you…or even to make you feel bad. I know eating healthy not something you’re used to doing…but it’s something that you need to do.” Cas explained, sitting on the bed beside Dean. “We press the issue so hard because we love you. We want you to be healthy. Do you understand?”

"You know your brother used to bottle up all that emotion? That's how he became so self-loathing in the first place. This is a better way of venting his thoughts and feelings, even if it's not the most appropriate way to handle it." Crowley explained, "Though you may not have thought so, his Father John had really screwed him up and he still carries that negative thought process with him--that he's not good enough, and that you will always be more important than him. Which is not the case." he explained to his youngest child.
"You are both as equally important as each other."
Dean whined when Cas came into his room and said they needed to talk, but judging by the tone he guessed he didn't mean a spanking. He scooted over on the bed to let Cas sit down and he listened to what the Angel said. It DID make sense, and on reflection he realized they were having burgers---which were HIS favourite, not Sam's. Maybe they were trying to make something they'd both be happy with. Dean's face fell, he'd jumped to conclusions again. He couldn't help it---with an upbringing he had previously he was used to Sam getting everything.
"I understand---I'm sorry." he said gently and moved closer to the Angel, in hopes Cas would bring him into a hug.

Sam nodded slowly, looking down at his hands before looking back to his father with a sad expression. “I know that Dad wasn’t the best father in the world…but Dean tried to shield me from most of it.” He said quietly, nibbling on his lower lip. “I don’t want Dean to think that I’m more important than him…that was the problem the first time.” Sam rubbed his eyes, squirming a bit. “Do you think Cas…Mommy… can help? I want Dean to be happy…I got to be happy before. He never did.” He asked seriously, reaching his hands out to be picked up by his guardian.
“Are the burgers almost done? I’m hungry.” Sam mumbled. “Can I have some milk?”
Cas immediately pulled Dean into a tight hug, snuggling his son in his lap. “It’s alright Dean…I know you were unhappy about the salad…but vegetables are important.” He smiled slightly, pressing a kiss to his son’s forehead. Cas knew that Dean had never really had the opportunity to throw tantrums as a kid, and actually express himself. It would take a bit of talking though, but Cas didn’t feel like this warranted a spanking. Dean had been mouthy, but the angel understood why. “We can snuggle for a little while, or we can head down and see about dinner.”
He didn’t want to rush Dean, since he didn’t want his son feeling like Cas wasn’t willing to snuggle and comfort him.

"Of course, you know that Angel is stubborn and he wont rest until Dean knows he's important, and valued as a son." Crowley answered and smiled, reaching down and scooping his littlest son up into his arms. "You will both be happy---around eighty percent of the time." he chuckled, knowing the other percent would include chores, spankings, early bed times and other things children didnt really like.
Crowley moved the meat around as hit sizzled in the pan and then he nodded his head, "Yes, it would seem so." he then went to the fridge and took out a carton of milk. He poured it into a glass for Sam and then looked to the door, wondering what was keeping Cas and Dean. "Now, why dont you be a good lad and lay the table?" he asked, setting him down on his feet and giving him a pat to his bottom.
Dean nodded, he knew vegetables were important, but that didnt make him like them more. He snuggled with his parent and then closed his eyes for a moment, still feeling a little tired that day but he would refuse a nap if it was offered to him. "I dont mind, I'm kinda hungry anyway." he answered and got to his feet, even though he did like the feeling of snuggles and cuddles.
"Are you mad at me, Mommy?" Dean asked a little worriedly, looking up at his Celestial parent.

“Cas…Mommy…he’s very protective of Dean. He is stubborn.” Sam said with a giggle. That described Cas to a T, certainly. “I think we’d be happy like ninety percent of the time, Daddy. We’re good.” He defended, snuggling against his father’s chest. Sam nodded when his father asked him to set the table, padding off to grab everything and place it on the table. He was a bit of a perfectionist, and he wanted to make sure everything was perfect for their first meal as a family.
“Should we put the food on the table then Daddy?” Sam asked, looking back to his father. “I’m hungry…what’s taking them so long?” He whined, clambering up onto his chair and flopping against the back of the chair. “I don’t know how Dean can stay in one place so long…I could never talk for that long.” Sam chatted on and on, a little ironically. He never realized how much he talked, especially when he was young.
“Of course not Dean.” Cas said after a moment, snuggling Dean close against his chest and pressing a kiss to his son’s forehead. “I know that you’re still adjusting, and both myself and your father understand that.” The angel said with a small smile, running a gentle hand through Dean’s hair. “No matter what happens, I will always love you. Nothing could make me mad at you.”
Cas rested his chin atop Dean’s head. “We don’t have to go down until you’re ready, alright Dean?”
