Teenage troubles (Jedi Master Eeth Koth/ Padawan Raven Trebeck)

Eeth inspected the paddle briefly and nodded.

"Alright, hang it onto its hook," he said. "Then lie down on the couch. I will provide healing while you tell me whether you have learned anything from all this."

[Raven.]

Relieved that her work had passed muster, Raven put the paddle back, lie on the couch and buried her face in her hands, Eeth’s handkerchief still balled in her right fist. With no paddles flying at it she had no problem lifting her sleep shirt and baring her bottom this time. What had she learned? Why did he always have to ask that? Sure, she understood that there was a difference between punishment and discipline, and why it was that Eeth imposed both, but why couldn’t the torture end with the punishment just this once! Raven sniffled again, the handkerchief coming up to swipe at her nose before it ran onto their cushions. “That letting my pride rule leads to making unwise decisions,” she said, purposefully using Eeth’s lexicon. “And showing a more accepting attitude will mean I don’t make it any worse. But, Master….” she twisted to face him. “It’s hard to accept something you’re scared of. Have you forgotten how much it hurts to be on the receiving end?? I don’t have your pain tolerance.”

"I know you don't," Eeth replied calmly. "And I adapt the punishments I deal out to yours, just as my master has adapted her punishments to mine. Of course it hurts a lot. That is the whole point. And of course you do not want it. The right way to avoid it is to avoid the behaviour that will get you punished in the first place, though, rather than trying to argue about the consequences. I do not expect you to be overjoyed at those consequences, but nor am I prepared to allow you to tell me how much is too much."

[Raven.]

One swat with that paddle was too much, she thought, but wisely kept such comments to herself given his closing statement. “I think you took skin off.” Raven knew Eeth didn’t feel guilt over dishing out consequences, but she was still prone to trying it on now and then. Besides, she was still not quite ready to forgive him for dealing out such a memorable paddling. And it truly was going to be remembered, which was entirely the point.

"No, I did not, padawan," Eeth replied mildly while he worked to let healing energy flow into the punished skin, perhaps a bit more generously than he typically did. "Let it go, padawan."

[Raven.]

There had been very few instances during her apprenticeship so far in which she had remained angry with him long. Sure, she sulked, most padawans would at least a bit. She sighed, closed her eyes and rested her head on the cushion once again. Given Eeth was busy healing, she did not drop her shields and instead, entered a meditative trance and focussed on releasing her emotions into the Force.

Sometime later Raven roused from her meditation to find Eeth was still patiently kneeling by her side. She looked up at him, then back at her bottom. It was still a little red, yet did not hurt nearly as much as it had to begin with and would not bruise. Without healing that paddle would reliably leave them so she was grateful for that. She pulled up her panties, sat up with only a very slight wince and lent into Eeth’s side. It was her way of saying no hard feelings, and that she was through sulking over having been disciplined. There would be a great many times that Raven faced her masters wrath over the years to come, but the apprentice was learning and well on her way to becoming a knight.
