Teenage troubles (Jedi Master Eeth Koth/ Padawan Raven Trebeck)

"The astrophysics exam is next week Wednesday," Eeth said firmly. "If we went into the city tomorrow afternoon, alongside all your other obligations, that would not even leave you enough time during the weekend to do your homework and revise the presentation, let alone study for the exam. You hardly have a free hour on weekdays. And we both know that it is a subject that needs studying if you want to pass." Raven had a hard time with anything involving math, and since that one time she had had to take a remedial class because of failing an exam, Eeth took care to make really sure that she applied herself.

[Raven.]

“Well I don’t care, I never get to have any fun, I’m always working. I’ve been looking forward to that trip since you said we can go!” Raven complained, her lunch forgotten in lieu of what she considered a horrible injustice.

"You did not choose this career in order to have fun," Eeth said sharply. "I am happy to take you into town on occasion when it does not interfere with your duties. Unfortunately, this weekend it does. Until today, I neither knew about your field trip nor about your exams, let alone the fact that you acted up in class and were therefore asked to rewrite your presentation, so you can hardly blame me for not having told you earlier. Now stop whining.”

[Raven.]

“No!” she slammed her fist into the table and stood abruptly, her chair skidding back and almost tipping over from her haste. “I’m sick of hearing that! Why is it that each time I miss out on something fun, have to do more work or Force knows what, do you have to say: ‘You didn’t choose this career to have fun,’” she waved her hands around for emphasis as she continued to parrot him. “’We are on a mission not a vacation, being a Jedi is not about your personal enjoyment, if you don’t want to meditate, practice, obey, respect’ or whatever else I don’t feel like doing at the time, ‘then maybe you should rethink your choice in careers!’” The girl ranted, working herself into a fluster as she spoke. “Well, maybe I WILL, maybe I shouldn’t be a Jedi, because you know what? I LIKE going into the city occasionally, I was looking forward to it! And that fat old cow WAS born with a hot poker jammed up her ass, and if she didn’t already have one up there I’d be first in line to supply her with ONE!” Raven shouted, then turned on her heel and stormed into her bedroom.

Eeth did not even give his padawan time for the bedroom door to swish shut. This was a level of disrespect he was simply not prepared to tolerate, not to mention a temper tantrum of epic proportions that Raven had been trained not to indulge in. He strode after her, took hold of her arm, hauled her towards her desk, pulled out the chair, sat down and yanked her forward, making her fall face-down across his lap – all that in about five seconds. Not bothering to struggle with her pants, he simply pushed up her tunic, pulled his paddle from his belt and brought it down hard enough to be felt through two layers of clothing.

"The attitude stops here and now," he snapped and brought the paddle down a second time. "There are more constructive ways of dealing with your frustration than shouting at me."

Deciding that this was enough lecturing, he gave his undivided attention to wielding his paddle with grim efficiency.

[Raven.]

Raven’s stride became awkwardly stiff as she felt his presence follow. She rarely, if ever, shouted at Eeth, but she was just so sick of everyone riding her lately, sick of having to do nothing but work and most of all, sick of being punished for her failure to accept all of this in good grace. Those feelings of righteous indignation did not last long, in fact they quickly morphed into panic as he took her arm and then dread when she found herself hauled to her desk and tipped over his knee. “No Master please don’t!” she started begging when the back of her tunic was flipped up. “DON’T! Oww! Don’t do it! OWw!” but it was too little too late. Raven was intimately familiar with her master’s paddle, and knew exactly how much it hurt; even through two layers it had her bottom clenching and legs stiffening in an effort to stop some of the burn from setting in. Yeah, like that ever worked….

"You are going to stop the disrespect towards your teacher and me right this moment," Eeth barked, continuing to paddle his padawan's bottom hard and fast. "Petulant behaviour will not help you reach knighthood nor will it buy you any favours with me."

He brought the paddle down onto her upper thighs twice, making these swats really count, then paused.

"Are you ready to see sense and behave?" he asked sternly.

[Raven.]

“OWWahhYOUSEE!” Raven bellowed at hearing his comment, and reached a hand back to try and shield her bottom from further swats. “Petulant behaviour will n-not help, OW! You reach k-knighthood!’ Ahhh!” Unfortunately, Eeth was not having a bar of it, and the two smacks to the back of her thighs were enough to refocus her attention. “No, I- I mean, yes, YES, please stop,” she begged him, while trying to get her other hand back and around to shield herself from further swats.

Eeth was not impressed with her comments. He gave her two more swats to the backs of her thighs in order to express that fact, then rested the paddle for the moment. However, he did not put it away, nor did he let her up.

"Padawan, I might talk about your goal of reaching knighthood a lot, but that does not make it any less true," he said sharply. "Even if you chose to quit your career with the Jedi, you would have to reach adulthood at some point. Believe it or not, I am trying to help you. Now, I will give you a choice. You can lose the attitude and meditate with me, or we can continue here. What is it to be?"

Unfortunately, Raven only had two hands and they weren’t doing a very good job at being in the right places at the right time, so, despite a valiant attempt to cover both thighs and cheeks all at once, she could not. “OWwwahhh!!” it was a single wail but it drew out, increasing in volume as he swatted her twice more. “I-I’m sick of hearing truths,” she cried, ignoring his question and curling around his lap. In spite of the fact that she was being smacked, Eeth had given her a lot worse in the past and although the pain was more than enough to have her full attention, she was crying as much from the frustration; everyone was on her back about everything! Or so it felt.
