Kyler didn't think that the men bringing him here and meant to torture him by not feeding him, they'd just been angry about the way he was acting and told him that he didn't deserve it so he was assuming they meant it as a punishment. They wanted him to act more like a slave and grovel for it and he'd refused, remaining stoically kneeling in the cage they'd thrown him in since the top was too low for him to stand. He didn't share any of that with Fury though he just made his comment about it being a few days and was surprised when Fury made that startled noise and asked him if he'd been given food, and after a moments hesitation he just shook his head and decided not to snap something back at the man. He was even more surprised when his answer clearly displeased Fury and then the other kitsune made his announcement about the guards. A tiny part of him felt bad for having gotten them in trouble but the larger part was pleased that they were going to pay for their actions since it really just hadn't been pleasant for him on the way here and it was their fault so he was vindictively thinking they deserved whatever Fury ordered done to them. The policy thing did interest him and since Fury seemed in a chatty mood right now he spoke up again, "You do not do that?" He asked, since that was what it sounded like to him and he wanted to know. After Fury answered if he were going to Kyler returned his attention to his food and managed to eat about half of it before having to stop. He turned his attention to the much hated leash and when attempts to remove it himself failed to get the desired response he asked Fury if it was necessary, his tone frustrated and he hadn't expected anything to come of it he was just venting really. He looked up at Fury when he made the chain up like a dog thing and that got another displeased growl out of Kyler but it died in his throat when Fury actually removed it. He was clearly startled, thrown off guard by that one since he really just hadn't expected it and he actually nodded slightly when Fury added his 'conditions' to its removal, though he thought it was a big vague since the whole 'give me a reason' thing was not something he could know ahead of time it was just something he'd find out when the time came and that would likely end painfully for him. He got up then, picking up his plate and setting it back on the table in the process, and walked away from Fury over to one of his windows to look outside. Usually he'd be anxious to go outside after being cooped up for so long but today he was tired and sore so he was disinclined to go anywhere. He did like looking out the window though and he caught sight of some children playing, a small smile appearing on his face as he watched them, the smile softening his features and making him look a bit 'prettier' compared to the pretty much permanent frown or scowl that Fury had been seeing out of him so far. After a few moments of that he tensed slightly as he realized he'd let his guard down and his eyes flicked towards Fury to see what he was up to.

Fury neither knew nor really cared why Kyler had been deprived of food during the trip to the capital of Illyria, to him that was completely unimportant because it was not a method he approved of for dealing with anything and everyone who served under him knew that or at least they should. So when he found out how the older prince had been treated he was annoyed and after getting Kyler to confirm it with a nod of his head he said that the guards would pay for what they had done, fully intending to have them punished if not outright doing it himself. He made his displeasure known and when Kyler looked at him and asked if he did that Fury pinned his ears a bit and shook his head. "I have no need to weaken anyone in such a manner in order to deal with them and aside from that it teaches nothing," he felt the need to say, not really sure how to explain the reasons why he refused to use that as a punishment but all the same it wasn't something he did or allowed his men to do. After that the two of them went back to their meals and all was quiet until Kyler asked his disgruntled question about the collar and at that point Fury regarded him for a few moments before making a decision on that matter. Reaching down he unclipped the chain from the older kitsune's collar while at the same time issuing a warning so that he would know that it could and would be put back in place if Kyler gave him a reason to, Fury not caring if his warning was vague. In his mind Kyler should know what type of behavior was acceptable and what wasn't. He watched as the older prince got up and walked over to the window and when he saw the slight smile that appeared on his face as he looked out the window his ears once again perked and he was intrigued, seeing the other in a new light but quickly shaking his head and banishing the thoughts that appeared there. Fury thought that he had to be out of his mind at this point and he was a little annoyed at the fact that he was actually attracted to his slave since he'd always considered himself aloof and above such base instincts. Aside from that he had a mate though with Rina her only purpose was to provide him with an heir, he had no feelings for her either. Shaking his head almost fiercely Fury banished those thoughts before he asked, "Is there anything you would like to keep your idle mind out of trouble?" Within reason he would grant requests that the other prince made but more than that he was trying to occupy his own mind at this point lest he find himself in trouble of a completely different kind.

Kyler was just surprised that Fury even cared that he'd been mistreated on his way here since that really just wasn't something that he'd expected to happen when he found himself in the rumored-cruel prince's clutches. So he was surprised when Fury told him that they would be punished and he would have been more surprised to know that Fury was thinking of handling it personally, but he knew firsthand now that was not pleasant so he probably would have felt a little bit worse for the soldiers had Fury shared that little tidbit with him. Since that didn't happen he just asked if Fury did that to people and tilted his head slightly when Fury pinned his hears and answered, Kyler's own ears actually lifting from his head for the first time since his punishment earlier since this version of Fury was a lot less intimidating, at last when Fury's ire was aimed at someone else. The part about it not teaching anyone anything also was strange for Kyler, and he wondered vaguely what Fury thought he'd taught Kyler himself with his earlier punishment since the elder fox had only learned that pissing Fury off brought pain he still didn't regret his decision to try and attack the younger fox and he might do it again if he ever thought he'd win. He shook those thoughts off and asked about the chain and was pleased when it was removed an dafter listening to Fury's conditions he wandered over to the window to look out, not realizing that as he smiled at the children his expression softened to show that he really was a rather 'pretty' man and that Fury had noticed and was starting to feel interested in him. He likely wouldn't have reacted well to that right now so it was probably for the best that he didn't know so they avoided that minor freak out that he likely would have had. He would have stood there looking out the window for a while but then Fury suddenly asked him if he would like something to keep himself out of trouble and he once again looked surprised and confused, not sure if this was how slaves were normally treated but it seemed odd to him. He didn't have to think about it for long before deciding to go ahead and make a request since Fury was offering and hope he didn't make the man angry. "Do you have a library?" He asked, which he meant more like 'can I go to your library' since he knew that Fury had to have one, every sophisticated castle like this had one and he was an avid reader so he could quite happily stay there all day and stay out of trouble if that was what the man wanted. He sort of glanced at himself in the mirror after asking and flushed a bit at the clothes he was still wearing but he didn't ask if he could wear something else just yet since he was waiting to see if Fury would even allow him to go to the library or if the man was going to make him stay in this room. He wasn't going to risk further punishment from Fury though so whatever the younger kitsune decided he was going to go along with at least until his welts healed.

Fury wouldn't have really been surprised either to find out that Kyler was a bit confused by the way he was acting or by the fact that the elder prince didn't think that he'd learned anything from the punishment that he'd received earlier. The younger prince himself knew that this was going to be an ongoing process with his new pet but that was okay with him since he had spare time on his hands even though he was technically running a kingdom. And he would have even more free time once his father returned from his current mission though as of yet he wasn't entirely sure when that was going to happen. Not that it mattered, Fury simply occupied himself presently with trying to explain a few things to Kyler. He even removed the chain when the elder asked if it was necessary though he didn't do that without issuing a warning first since he could and would put the chain back if he thought that it was necessary. For awhile he watched Kyler at the window, feeling an odd sensation when he saw the way that Kyler's features softened as he gazed out the window, the teen thinking to himself that Kyler looked a lot better without the harsh or stoic expressions that he'd had on his face since his arrival. After awhile of watching and trying to force back these thoughts Fury decided that he needed some kind of distractions so he asked if there was anything that Kyler would like to keep his mind out of trouble, the teen's ears pricking forward as he listened to the question about a library. He started to say no just for the simple fact that it was a rather absurd question but in the end he decided against that course of action and simply nodded his head. "A rather extensive library but as I'm not quite ready to give you free rein of the place I'll make a compromise. I will accompany you there and you may choose a couple of books to bring back here," Fury said, not sure if Kyler would like this or not but that didn't really matter to him since as far as he was concerned he was being generous in offering this to a slave in the first place. And even he didn't know why it was that he was doing it, there was just something about Kyler that was compelling to him and he couldn't seem to help himself, and that irked him to a degree since he was an extremely self disciplined person most of the time. Save for when he was pushed to anger but that was a completely different matter altogether. Rising to his feet Fury gracefully sauntered across the room, looking at Kyler for a moment before asking, "Are you going to behave yourself and not try to run if I leave off the leash, Pet?" He purposefully added the nickname that he knew Kyler hated just to make sure that he was going to get an honest answer out of the older kitsune. Of course he could give chase if Kyler tried to run and he was fast but even should he fail there were guards posted at all of the exits so there was little chance of him getting away. Which wasn't to say that it was impossible, just highly unlikely.

Kyler would have been much happier if Fury didn't take such an active interest in him and didn't have enough time to train him either. He would have liked to be ignored or tossed with other slaves somewhere that he had the chance to get away but he highly doubted that was going to happen and he was starting to realize that he was stuck here and he might as well make the most of it--or at least pretend to so he didn't get hurt anymore. He lost his guarded look when he was watching the kids since he really did like children, but it returned full force when Fury asked if he wanted to do something to keep out of trouble. This was very strange to him and served to yet again confuse him and catch him off guard but after a few moments of thinking about it he ended up answering just because he knew he would be bored here and that boredom might lead to him doing something stupid that would piss Fury off. He knew the question he asked was absurd his pride just wouldn't let him ask if he could go to the library to get books so he went this route instead and probably would have snapped something rude at Fury that would have gotten him into trouble if Fury had decided to say something sarcastic to him in response. Since Fury managed to resist that urge Kyler was able to avoid getting himself into trouble. His ears flicked back when Fury offered his compromise since he didn't like the idea of being escorted around but he could understand why Fury would be wary and he likely would have been if their positions were reversed since it was too easy for him to get his hands on a weapon or run off if he weren't being watched. So after a few moments he nodded, accepting the compromise and then tensed was Fury sauntered towards him, starting to back up before reconsidering and forcing himself to straighten up and not cower in front of the smaller man. He scowled at the question that Fury asked him then, pinning his ears in annoyance at the pet name as well. "I wont run, and I have a name you know" he protested, being very careful to force his voice to be level in the hope that he wouldn't be hurt by Fury for what he said if he said it in a more or less respectful tone. After Fury answered that if he were going to he asked another question, or more like issued another request that he really didn't think he should have to issue since clothing was part of basic human decency but apparently that wasn't going to be given to him without him having to ask for it. "Are you going to make me wear this forever?" He asked, gesturing towards what was currently barely covering him, once again not asking for what he wanted since his pride was getting in the way but he would actually ask for clothes if Fury demanded it of him since he wanted proper covering enough to sacrifice a bit of pride to get it.

Fury was sort of enjoying his new pet at this point since Kyler didn't act like anyone else that he had dealings with on a regular basis, or at the very least there was something different about the older kitsune that intrigued him and he wanted to find out for certain what that something was. Which more or less guaranteed that he was going to be keeping Kyler close for the foreseeable future or at least until he grew weary of the other's company, whichever came first. He wasn't exactly the most social creature that ever lived and he couldn't stand the company of many people for long periods of time but he actually had a faint hope that Kyler might be different though he wasn't going to admit that to himself anytime soon or probably ever if the truth were known. After a few things were established between them Fury agreed to take Kyler to the library so that he could find something to read and occupy his time and he would not have been happy if his 'compromise' hadn't been agreed to. Mainly because it wasn't a compromise so much as it was terms and if Kyler hadn't agreed to them then he would have been forced to remain here and be bored. Surprising himself with the fact that he agreed to leave off the leash Fury watched as Kyler pinned his ears back in annoyance and that earned him a slight growl of warning since Fury was taking it as defiance and that was not something he was going to tolerate. The younger prince was only slightly pacified when Kyler said that he wouldn't run and when the older prince went on to say that he had a name Fury pinned his ears back and said, "You will answer to whatever I choose to call you Pet." He wanted to make himself clear on that one and while he might at some point start to use Kyler's name for the time being at least the older kitsune could just get used to being called 'pet' since that was the moniker that Fury had chosen for him, mainly because he could tell that Kyler hated it and that amused him. Kyler went on to complain about his attire as Fury saw it and that got an arched brow out of him as he said, "With an attitude like that I very well may. If you wish for something then make a request and if not then let us be on our way to the library." He of course knew exactly what it was that Kyler wanted but he wasn't going to offer it this time around and instead was going to make the older prince ask for it. A blow to his pride to be sure but one that Fury felt was going to be necessary just to assure that he succeeded in training his new pet the right way.

Kyler wasn't the most social creature in the world either, he had spent a lot of time alone at home studying or painting since he just liked a low stress life and both of those had soothed him. Now he needed a little soothing and being stuck in a room with a potentially dangerous kitsune really wasn't very soothing at all. So when Fury suggested they go to the library to get some books he knew that the 'compromise' that Fury was offering wasn't really a compromise and nodded since he really did want some books to read and he'd like some painting things too but he wasn't going to ask for them. Maybe later when he was more comfortable with Fury he would but right now he was being cautious so he was just going to take what Fury offered and keep his mouth shut as much as possible. He heard the growl that Fury gave him when he pinned his ears and he immediately forced them to relax so they were just flicked back rather than pinned, not aware that Fury was seeing that as defiance but that was not how the young man meant it to come across he was just annoyed and his ears always reflected his emotions. He'd never had a reason to need to control them before but now he realized that Fury apparently expected that out of him and he was going to try, if only to save himself from more pain. He went on to make his frustrated comment about the nickname that Fury liked to use for him and once again earned a pinned eared look from the other prince that made Kyler nervous and he very carefully stopped himself from pinning his own ears when Fury told him that he would answer to whatever Fury wanted to call him, even thought hat annoyed him. His jaw clenched when he heard that as he forced himself not to protest again and concentrated on keeping his ears pointed back but not pinned, making a mental note to bring it up again later but not push it for now. A few moments later he made yet another mistake, starting to think that was all he was going to be capable of doing with Fury with the way things had been going so far, and his face flushed when Fury told him to ask for what he wanted or walk to the library as he was. This was probably one of the things that was going to be hardest for Fury to break him of since he had a lot of pride, which pretty much came with being raised royal, so he didn't want to ask for anything but after a long pause-which was just shy of being too long-he finally forced himself to swallow a bit of that pride of his so he could ask the question Fury was demanding. "Can I have real clothes first?" he said, the words coming out a bit tense but that was the best he could manage he couldn't really force himself to drop far enough down to do more than that and he looked over at Fury to see what he was going to say.

Fury was accustomed to having pretty much everyone do as he commanded, which was a side effect of being the sole child and heir of his father, so to have someone challenge him even as mildly as Kyler was didn't really sit well with Fury, mainly because he was unaccustomed to it. However he was actually making allowances for Kyler that he wouldn't have were he just an ordinary slave or someone of lower birth, whether the other kitsune realized that or not. Still when he saw the way that Kyler pinned his ears Fury took that as defiance and that was not something he was going to overlook regardless of how high born his slave was so he pinned his own ears and growled in warning, slightly placated when that caused the older kitsune to raise his ears a bit. He expected for the slave to be respectful at all times or to at least fake it so he was not going to accept less than that, which was something that Kyler should learn quickly to save himself from some suffering at the hands of the silver haired teen. The argument over the name was something that Fury put a quick end to, letting his new slave know in no uncertain terms that he would call the older prince whatever he wished and Kyler would answer to it, Fury not caring whether or not he liked that, it was just the way that it was going to be. The next thing that the two of them argued about was whether Kyler was going to continue to wear the cloth that he had been given to tie around his waist and the way that Kyler phrased that inquiry caused Fury to say that he should leave him that way. After that he told Kyler to ask if he wanted something and when that got an extended pause out of the other kitsune he was about to say that they were going but before the words left his lips Kyler seemed to choke back his pride enough to ask about clothes. "Well I'm not completely pleased with the way that you asked that so...." he let his voice trail off as he made his way over to his closet, looking inside for clothes that didn't fit him but would fit the older male which he surprisingly enough did have since the tailors had kept him stocked with various sizes in case he had a growth spurt or something. It hadn't happened as of yet but there was still the chance that he would. Grabbing a pair of black pants he walked over to Kyler and tossed them to the other male, saying as he did so, "Here you are." He figured that would be better than the cloth that Kyler currently had, Fury looking at him after offering the pants and seeing how he would react to that.

Kyler was also accustomed to having everyone do as he commanded, which was his main problem right now since he wanted to issue commands and make demands but he was afraid to further bring down Fury's anger on his head. Which also bothered him but he had never been a fighter and he'd already found out that Fury was stronger even if the boy was younger and smaller than him so he wasn't too keen for a repeat. Still he was having trouble controlling his reactions to keep them to what Fury wanted but he was trying and he actually did realize that Fury was making some allowances for him since he knew that normal slaves would likely have been punished several times over for making the mistakes that he had been making since they came to Fury's room. He couldn't tell that his attempts to control his ears were placating Fury otherwise he might have been happier about having managed it, but for now he was just focused too much on his own feelings and reactions to pay much attention to Fury's and his tail had started lashing in irritation but that wasn't something he noticed or could really control when he was already focusing a lot of his attention on his ears. Eventually Fury made him ask for clothing and he had to fight a brief internal battle to actually make himself do it, and even then the words came out tense. He looked a little wary when Fury told him that he wasnt' pleased with how he asked for them, half expecting 'not pleased' to mean 'going to hurt you now' so he was sort of surprised and very much relieved when Fury went to his wardrobe and pulled out a pair of black pants. He caught them when they were tossed to him and nodded his head in a gesture of thanks rather than saying the word before carefully pulling them on under the loincloth and grimacing when the fabric touched his butt since he was still sore from that rather evil, thick strap. Once they were on he pulled the loincloth off and put it wherever Fury indicated he should put it then looked over at the silver fox and waited for Fury to lead the way out. True to his word he trailed after Fury, keeping about the same distance back as he had when he was on the leash and didn't make any attempt to wander off though he did pause a few times to look at something or people watch when something got his attention but he usually caught himself and took a few quicker steps to keep up with Fury since he did not want to be put back on the leash like an animal. When they got to the library he looked around, impressed by it but it was actually smaller than the one he had at home, which he was thinking was normal since his country was much more focused around the arts and philosophy and such while Fury's were more about war and being feared. At least that was what he thought because it was what he'd always been taught, he knew very little about Illyria aside from what his tutors had said and who knows how accurate they were. He was clearly curious and anxious to go look through the books and he actually started to wander off to do that before catching himself and looking at Fury, hating that he was actually forcing himself to wait for permission but he didnt' want to be beaten or returned to the room without anything to do so he was once again swallowing his pride for now so he could get something that he wanted out of it.

It seemed to Fury as though he and his new slave were going to do nothing more than butt heads with one another over every little thing and that was an irritation to him since he didn't want a pet that he was going to have to continuously threaten or else punish. Yes he was a bit of a sadist and yes he did enjoy inflicting pain on others but to him it was something that was best done in moderation which was the reason why he hadn't already punished Kyler several more times since the initial whipping and strapping that the older kitsune had already been given. Too much of a good thing and all that though it wasn't a conscious decision on Fury's part and more a subconscious way of thinking. He told Kyler that he wasn't happy with the way that he asked for the clothes and would have been highly amused if he'd known the internal musings that caused and he might have actually given the other prince a few smacks just to make that thought about him concrete however since he wasn't a mind reader he had no way of knowing so therefore they missed that fun little exchange. Instead he walked over to the wardrobe and pulled out a pair of pants which he tossed to Kyler and the way that the older decided to dress himself got a smirk out of the younger. "Embarrassed?" he asked in a bit of a taunting tone of voice once Kyler had discarded the loin cloth that he had been wearing, Fury gesturing toward a chute that led down to the laundry room. He watched as Kyler put the cloth down the chute and then he said, "Come." His tone was inherently commanding and once he'd said that he led the way down the hall from his room and to the library, the silver fox opening the doors and then stepping aside so that Kyler could enter. He was glad that Kyler decided to follow along behind him since he would have been annoyed if he'd had to chase after his new pet so it was really a good thing that Kyler kept his word. When Kyler looked to him Fury was actually really pleased by that and he nodded his head and said, "Feel free." He watched the other to see what he would do, wondering just how his opinion of Fury was forming at this point, fully expecting to be hated but since he was accustomed to that it wasn't a big deal. He was accustomed to being despised, mainly be people who knew very little about him or his own twisted little code of conduct since, contrary to popular belief, he did have one. While Kyler was looking for his books Fury went to a shelf and picked one up himself, the younger prince flipping it open and starting to read though he did keep an eye on what Kyler was doing just in case he decided to be stupid again.
